Voyage With The Pirate King - Chapter 384
The warmth of Huishe Nan’s fingers through Rui Fei’s hair was extremely comforting but recalling what this grandfather of his had done he suddenly stood up and immediately walked out of the dungeon without a word.
His grandfather’s words were touching but it still couldn’t make up for the fact that he had a major role in separating him from Ji Yao and also sending that strange woman to his bed. Crimes like that couldn’t be easily forgiven with a few words.
This left Huishe Nan speechless as he watched the cub walk away. His hand that had frozen midair slowly dropped to the ground as he shifted his gaze towards his son. Huishe Yue nervously rubbed the back of his head as he said, “Don’t take it to heart…. he has a bit of a temper.”
Huishe Nan’s brow arched upwards as he snorted saying, “A bit? His mother was never like that. She was so cute and sunny. Even when I scolded her she would at most pout her lips then coax me with cookies afterwards so he must have gotten it from his father.”
“I highly doubt that. You should probably look in the mirror,” replied Huishe Yue implying that Rui Fei’s temper was inherited from Huishe Nan. Don’t look at his soft features and assume he is slow to temper.
He once swatted his attendant with his tail for staring at Huishe Xieyue. After that, no one dared look at this sweet girl just in case the clan leader misunderstood.
“You…! That strange world taught you to be disrespectful, didn’t it? Look in the mirror my ass, tsk… so annoying,” said Huishe Nan who had taken great offence. He immediately got up and walked out of the dungeon with his son following behind him.
His hands clasped behind his back, his steps suddenly halted as a thought crossed his mind. With a slight tilt of his head, he paused and said, “Ah-Fei’s father…”
Huishe Yue stopped beside his father and replied, “I don’t know which clan he could have come from.”
Huishe Nan’s brow furrowed as he turned his face away. “That’s because a clan with such a potent power like that is virtually non-existent unless… it’s one of the clans that have been extinct for thousands of generations,” he said with a thoughtful expression.
It had to be a clan that had been wiped out in history and one could understand why. They were just like vampires thriving over other people’s pain and misery. For them to survive in a society filled with powerful clans they would have had to rob other people of their seraphic energy.
Huishe Nan could see why they would be eliminated as they were a threat but how on earth did one of them survive so long in Niuq only to resurface on earth and have a child who eventually passed it down to his grandson?
What he didn’t realise was that this clan wasn’t entirely wiped out. It was relatively low in numbers, living in an isolated part of Niuq and they didn’t steal other people’s graphic energy hence keeping a low profile.
Unfortunately, fifty years ago Emperor Rui’s mother somehow ended up on earth which meant the existence of her clan was no longer low key.
“It’s best no one apart from us two know about this not even your mother…. understand?” said Huishe Nan genuinely worried for his grandson. If the clan finds out that Rui Fei had kept his father’s traits when he awakened as a Huishe the clan might not react well.
This was understandable considering that he was prone to outbursts and also possessed such a sinister power. What if he were to absorb someone’s aether while having an outburst? It was incredibly risky but Huishe Nan had already vowed to take care of his daughter’s cub at all cost.
“Yes….. I understand,” replied Huishe Yue well aware of why his father would say that.
The pair of father and son strolled out into the middle of the villa where there was a sparse garden with strange flowers and plants. Huishe Nan sat down on the stone fountain seeming lost in thought. After a long moment of silence, he finally said,
“Was that Qilin really good to Ah-Fei?”
Huishe Yue who had been sitting beside his father gazing up to the starry night lowered his head and looked at his father with a glint of surprise in his eyes.
“Half Qilin and yes… he was extremely good to him. If it weren’t for him both of us might have never had the chance to see Xieyue’s cub,” replied Huishe Yue responding in earnestness.
Huishe Nan felt a pang in his heart when he heard this. After all this and discovering how much his grandson suffered he finally relented. Seeing Rui Fei’s violent outbursts tore his heart apart.
It was like watching his daughter suffer. This is why he tried to find the best female in the clan so that she could help him and hopefully move on from the past. Of course, it didn’t work out and he would probably have to compensate her family after this.
But the thing that broke the camel’s back was when he watched his grandson ruthlessly absorb that vile man’s core. Watching that it suddenly hit him. The only way he can help his grandson was to get that Qilin back here.
He knew the severe consequences that would come with kidnapping a Qilin but that pot was already smashed and he was at odds with the Qilin clan already. Since Qilin San played a part in his daughter’s demise he had no problem with taking his grandson for Rui Fei’s sake.
He might have to deal with that mad dog Qilin Hao but for Huishe Xieyue he was willing to do anything. “Then tomorrow we head to the old Qilin city. I need to find a way to reopen that portal. If Rui Fei likes that Qilin then we have to do whatever it takes to reunite them. You just have to be strong enough to fight Qilin Hao,” he said as he stood up to leave.
Huishe Yue’s brow arched before a knowing smile appeared on his face. “Don’t worry I will work hard.”
“War with the Qilin is inevitable… it’s time we eliminate that clan and take the trophy home.. When we win I will marry them in front of their entire clan and Qilin San’s head would be the guest of honour,” he said with an evil grin that gave Huishe Yue the chills.
