Voyage With The Pirate King - Chapter 396
Huishe Yue smiled at his nephew as he handed him a towel to wipe his face that was dripping with sweat. He looked like a proud trainer at the gym after watching his prodigy make drastic improvements.
“Have I improved,” he knowingly asked staring at his uncle who was grinning like a fool?
Huishe Nan wasn’t one to sugarcoat things. He pointed at the patterns on the blades and said, “The moment when you feel like you are fighting at a level similar to your true form that’s when you know you have mastered it.”
After saying this he took out a bottle of elixir and said, “If you want something….. you have to fight hard for it. Once you got a handle on it you and I can have a go at it.” He handed him the elixir and Rui Fei arched his brows in agreement before gulping down the elixir.
“Now that we have managed to get other clans in on this it’s only a matter of time before we find that last keystone and we open that portal… By then you should be ready,” said Huishe Yue before lightly punching his chest.
Rui Fei stumbled back a little with his lips twitching trying not to smile. “Really excited, aren’t you?” said Huishe Yue taking the opportunity to tease his nephew.
Rui Fei’s eyes widened as he gritted his teeth. Who would want their private matters discussed in front of their grandfather? Unfortunately, Huishe Yue had had the sweet taste and instantly got addicted.
He smiled at Rui Fei and said, “You should have seen him with that Qilin boy. He always followed him around like an obedient puppy. Your future grandson in law can most definitely keep your grandson in check.”
“Oh just like you and Lan Wu… mmmm mmmm,” said Rui Fei before his mouth was covered by Huishe Yue’s hand.
Huishe Nan who had been paying attention to their conversation definitely caught that name. That was the first time he heard of it since he got his son back. “Who is Lan Wu?” he asked staring at his son with a probing gaze. What was Huishe Yue hiding from him? Is this why he refused all the other females he had arranged to take that Pixiu’s place?
“It’s Hahaha…. it’s no one,” replied Huishe Yue with a nervous laugh before facing Rui Fei with a look that seemed to say, “You better keep your mouth shut.”
Unfortunately, Rui Fei was the least bit threatened. In fact, he took Huishe Yue’s hand off his mouth with ease and said, “Uncle, I think he would be sad if he heard you say that.”
“You…..!” said Huishe Yue but before he could tune out this brat who should stay out of grown people’s business he was interrupted by a milky voice that make people’s hearts itch.
Huishe Yue instantly behaved but Rui Fei seemed so indifferent as he retracted the blades of his sword. “Clan leader… Uncle Yue and… Fei didi,” she said with her gaze on Rui Fei the entire time.
Rui Fei was about to excuse himself when from the top of the stairs he saw Rui Li and Rui Yewan beckoning him over. He pardoned himself while tossing the towel at Huishe Yue whose lips twitched.
“So disrespectful,” said Huishe Yue before throwing the towel at his nephew but because he had already walked far it fell on the ground.
When he turned his face back to his father he was met by a vicious glare. “Pick it up,” said Huishe Nan his tone authoritative. It was as though his eyes were saying, “You aren’t too big for an ass-whooping.”
Yet again the biasness of grandparents towards their grandchildren was demonstrated at this moment. Huishe Yue who would never dare defy his father obediently picked it up while vowing to get back at Rui Fei for this.
With the person she wanted to see gone, Huishe Yingtao felt a little disappointed but seeing the envious stares from the group of females being cast in her direction she felt a bit better.
Huishe Nan wasn’t blind but he didn’t possess the EQ to understand Huishe Yingtao. The day after the incident she had come with her family causing a scene at his Villa about the matter. Granted she was silent as a benevolent female should be but Huishe Nan could see she was on the same page with her family.
This reaction was normal. His grandson had indeed harmed her and the fault fell on him as the grandfather. He was the one who had brought up this idea without consulting Rui Fei. Even when his son warned him so many times of how stupid this idea was he had carried on with his plan.
This meant he had to bear the brunt of the mess he created. He gave them everything they wanted and both parties reached an agreement. A couple of years later she was back with a bang. She was like covid coming and going as she pleased. What? Was the compensation not enough?
Huishe Yingtao seemed to sense the clan leader’s doubts so she put on a sweet smile and said, “Clan leader, please don’t misunderstand. I just passed by and happened to notice some activity here. Since I spotted you from a distance I couldn’t pass the opportunity to greet you.”
Huishe Nan knew she was lying but he was too old to be dealing with this nonsense. “If that’s the case then that’s good but remember to consider your family’s request that you don’t show your face in front of Rui Fei and Rui Fei shouldn’t show his face in front of you as well.”
After he said this he immediately took a step forward to leave but Huishe Yingtao wasn’t done. She was hurt so much by his words and couldn’t help but blurt out, “If the entire clan finds out he likes a Qilin wouldn’t that cause a problem? In accordance with clan law, it is a crime of treason for a Huishe to be with a Qilin. For the sake of the stability of the clan, I am his best choice.”
Huishe Nan who had never been threatened his entire life let out a menacing throaty chuckle before the smile on his face abruptly fell. He took a step forward and Huishe Yingtao subconsciously took a step back.
She had just overheard their conversation just now and apparently didn’t take it well so much so that she impulsively challenged the clan leader. How bold of her. “Who are you to speak of clan laws with me?… I made those rules and I can rewrite them,” he said before walking away. He hadn’t realised back then how annoying this female was. One way to describe her was an entitled brat who believes everyone should concede to her because she was titled the best.
Shaking his head he couldn’t believe that he actually thought she was perfect for his grandson. Huishe Yingtao maintained a straight face as she watched the clan leader leave but inside she was shaking like a leaf.
She knew she was wrong and shouldn’t have spoken such words to the clan leader but her emotions at the time made it hard for her to conceal her true nature.. She had undoubtedly screwed up but like the clan leader said, “If you want something you have to fight hard for it.”
