Voyage With The Pirate King - Chapter 400
In a large hall with a ginormous table that spun across the room and could fit thirty people were three weirdly dressed men sitting opposite Huishe Nan. They wore high-quality robes that clearly demonstrated the status of their clan but what made it weird were the fluffy feathers on the shoulders and fish scale pattern embroidered on their brocade robes.
If one was playing picture charades they would be able to easily identify the clan they belonged to at a glance. Also, the smell of fresh seafood in the hall sold them out with one whiff.
The moment Rui Fei entered the hall the boisterous discussion came to a halt. The numerous pair of eyes stared at him with one of the men exclaiming, “It’s really so similar.”
At that time he was referring to the fact that Rui Fei looked ninety-nine per cent similar to Huishe Xieyue except for the eyes. Who in Niuq didn’t know the legend of the beautiful deity overprotected by the Huishe clan.
If it weren’t for the fact that Huishe Nan didn’t want her to marry outside the clan as she would have to leave her family, plenty would have come to propose marriage and union between clans.
Now that they had seen her cub it was like standing in the presence of that enchantress all over again. “Clan leader Nan, you do know that I have a daughter at marrying age, right? How about before heading into battle we bask in the bliss of uniting young ones in marriage,” said the man who looked like the leader of the three.
Rui Fei, “…”
Did he look like he had the word single tattooed on his forehead? Why was it everyone was trying to push him towards people he doesn’t like? Huishe Nan quickly shut that idea down just in case his grandson loses his temper and says something he shouldn’t.
“Clan leader Yu, my grandson already has someone in his heart so it would be pointless to discuss this. But if you are really interested… I have a recently divorced son,” explained Huishe Nan pointing at Huishe Yue who had just walked into the room. Divorced? Ha, as if.
That Wei Wei had shamelessly refused to conduct the ceremony despite being caught in her lies. The only way she was going to do the ceremony was when they find her son. Yes, she even blamed them for that.
To prevent her from talking nonsense Huishe Nan confined her to her courtyard under heavy guard. This was to convince her to let Huishe Yue go as this issue had nothing to do with him.
There was a second option which was that Huishe Yue finds someone new that he wants to marry and once he found them they could force the separation ceremony without Wei Wei’s consent but his son over here wasn’t interested in anyone.
The only thing Huishe Nan knew was the name Lan Wu and that’s all. No matter how much pressure he put on Huishe Yue to spit it out the idiot wouldn’t talk. When he tried to get information from the Rui siblings all he got was the statement, “We don’t snitch. Snitching isn’t cool.”
Now that you understand this grandfather’s frustration let’s go back to the casual marriage proposal.
Clan leader Yu observed Huishe Yue for a moment and sighed before saying, “Too old.”
Huishe Yue who was about to politely decline felt a stab in his heart. If this weren’t the clan leader of the Kunpeng clan he would have jumped them a long time ago and yelled, “Who do you think you are calling old?”
Seeing Huishe Yue’s hurt expression Rui Li thought it was her duty to take care of the elderly’s feelings so she whispered, “Uncle Yue, don’t take it to heart. You aren’t that old….. you are just too old for the girl.”
Huishe Yue was surprisingly comforted. You see, this is why he decided to grab the Rui siblings and bring them along to join their brother when the portal was on the verge of collapsing. These two made up for Rui Fei’s shortcomings and made him feel better.
“Don’t you mean too crazy for the girl? The only person who can handle uncle Yue’s crazy side is Captain Wu,” whispered Rui Yewan as they walked to the furthest part of the room to give these elders some space.
Huishe Yue gritted his teeth before reprimanding them with a loud whisper, “Who are you calling crazy!” but when he turned his head he found the elders looking at him with complex expressions. He faked a smile and apologized but in his heart, he scolded Rui Yewan’s entire ancestry.
The pair of nephew and uncle sat on either side of Huishe Nan with their expressions turning serious. They were ready to discuss business. Seeing this Clan leader Yu didn’t dawdle. He instructed his man to take out the keystone and place it on the table.
“We almost lost our warriors attaining this,” said clan leader Yu pointing at the keystone glowing a faint blue light, “It’s because of that we have a condition.”
Huishe Nan gazed at the keystone for a second with his finger tapping the table as though making calculations. He then slowly shifted his gaze to the clan leader and said, “Name it.”
Clan leader Yu leaned back in his chair and chuckled lightly before saying, “Hei Ying,” his expression getting darker, “he has been following Qilin Hao for years. I want you to guarantee his safety when we besiege them.”
Rui Fei’s eyes narrowed recalling a certain blackbird. He knew that bird was of the same clan as these men but he didn’t think Hei Ying was that important.
Huishe Nan didn’t seem to have a problem with it. He had a vague impression of this Hei Ying and that he had gotten involved with Qilin Hao for some reason. As for the specifics he had no idea. “Sure… since the last of them has been found then we should ready ourselves. In three days we will set off for the point of convergence,” he said.
From that point onwards Rui Fei heard nothing else. He was sitting with his thighs apart but his legs were crossed at the ankles. This was an unusual sitting posture for him but he was happily shaking his leg in excitement. His expression remained unreadable but his leg sold him out.
If he could pack his shit right now and leave he would absolutely do it. Both Huishe Yue and Huishe Nan noticed but they ignored it after a few casual glances. It was only after they had sent off the guests that they turned to look at Rui Fei who was still so absent-minded right now.
Huishe Nan wanted to bring him back to earth but before he could do that, Rui Li showed up and raised her finger to show grandpa Nan a magic trick.
“Dage… let’s go. The meeting is over,” she said but there was no response, “how about we go and have dinner….. you must be hungry..” As she said this she couldn’t help but giggle.
