Voyage With The Pirate King - Chapter 427
The movement at the corner of his lips was subtle but Qilin San saw it. The rage on his face suddenly vanished replaced by a look of astonishment. This boy who had been under his grasp for years had sneered at him even in the face of death. Qilin Kai was fully aware of the kind of situation he was currently in but despite that knowledge, he actually sneered at him.
Qilin San harshly shoved his head to the ground and with a heavy dull thud Qilin Kai’s body hit the ground. “Good…. very good. You have surely grown bold,” said Qilin San as he paced back and forth with an absent expression.
Breathing heavily Qilin Kai warily opened his eyes. His vision was blurry with occasional black spots as he lay on the cold ground. Because his brain was messed up he couldn’t hear what Qilin San was saying neither did he care.
Just when he slowly closed his eyes letting go of everything he saw a vaguely familiar figure approach him. A sweet voice filled his ears making him feel a sense of comfort. It was the voice of his mother but he hadn’t heard her being this concerned for him ever since he awakened.
Being in the comfort of her arms again made him feel so good that he slowly lost his vigilance. In his haze, he heard her asking why he had to go on and anger his uncle. As a warm cloth touched his skin as she wiped away the blood off his wound he found himself emotionally breaking down.
Clutching to her dress he whispered, “I didn’t mean to…. I really, I really…..wouldn’t dare if it weren’t important.”
“What could be so important that you could turn your back on your family,” she had asked squeezing his arm in comfort.
A tear flowed down his cheek as he whispered, “My son….. he… he is with Ji Yao.”
What he didn’t realise was that Qilin San had exploited his weakness to get the information out of him. It seemed even Qilin Kai’s mother didn’t expect the secret to be this important. She had a grandson and he was currently in enemy hands.
She had misunderstood his words and assumed that her grandson was being held captive by Ji Yao. What she didn’t realise was that he was under Ji Yao’s protection and that Qilin San knowing this meant that he now had something to control Qilin Kai with just as he did with Qilin Hao.
After knowing this Qilin San decided to get these two pawns in his hands and retain control. Since the enemy had come knocking on his door it was best he kept Qilin Hao and Qilin Kai under his control. Two days later he left the confines of the imperial palace in search of Ji Yao’s ship.

While Qilin San was going after his grandson’s ship Qilin Hao wasn’t idle. She had finally managed to bring the Huishe to the table to discuss an alliance. The only problem was that because of past animosity it was difficult to have a peaceful discussion without a fight breaking out.
A meeting between future in-laws was already hard enough but adding past grievances in the mix it made it very hard to have a productive dialogue. For the nth time, that night Qilin Luse and Huishe Yue had almost bit each other’s heads off.
It was a good thing Rui Fei and Ji Yao weren’t here otherwise they would have been torn between taking their family’s side or their in-law’s.
After a long heated discussion, it was decided that each side drafts up a list of terms and conditions for the agreement. Having agreed to reconvene after two days they parted amicably.
Now that two days had passed the two sides had once again sat down and exchanged lists of what they hoped to gain from this agreement and what would be considered violations. There were a few things in common between these two lists one being that they both wanted Qilin San’s head.
They also agreed to respect each other’s territories and let go of past grievances between them which was in itself progress. The two sides seemed to be on the same page for the most part that is until they got to the part about where Ji Yao and Rui Fei would live after marriage.
Everything else about the agreement was great with both sides compromising when necessary but when it came to the pair of lovebirds no one wanted to back down. The funny thing was that this time it wasn’t Qilin Hao making trouble but her husband. To fully grasp what went down it would be best we go back to the night in question.

Qilin Hao was reading through the terms set by the Huishe clan when she noticed that like them the Huishe had specified that since Ji Yao was marrying into the family he would be expected to move into the Huishe clan immediately.
She raised her head and addressed Huishe Nan directly stating, “Clan leader Nan… are you proposing that I send my son into your clan where he would be surrounded by people who deemed his kind an enemy for thousands of generations? This is very unreasonable.”
She indeed had a point. Just because the clan leader was advocating peace between their clans it didn’t mean that everyone would be welcoming of a half Qilin especially when it was stipulated in their law that it was a crime of treason if a Huishe associates themselves with a Qilin.
Huishe Nan who had anticipated this opposition replied, “I am the law in my clan and my people will do as I say,” with his head bowed seeming the least bit concerned.
The smile on Qilin Hao’s face froze as a dark cloud loomed over her head. How could she feel reassured when just a few days ago they had come out of that portal with intent to kill. “I am sure clan leader Nan’s people will listen to your instructions but that doesn’t mean my son will be welcomed.”
Having been challenged again Huishe Nan finally raised his head and asked, “So what? Are you proposing my grandson stays with you? You beat him the first time you met so what makes you think I will let him stay with you?”
Qilin Hao leaned back in her chair and crossed her arms across her chest as she chuckled softly. “Didn’t you personally direct your person to stab into my son’s aether and almost killed him? Let me send that question back to you….. What makes you think he would stay with you?”
Huishe Nan, “…..”
Damnit, he had completely forgotten about that.
“That brings me to my next condition. I want the head of whoever stabbed my son that day,” said Qilin Hao as she surveyed the faces of the men standing behind Huishe Nan.. One of them had almost killed her son and she wasn’t going to let them get away with it.
