VRMMO Botanist - Chapter 43
As Ye Chen walked towards the Trade Lobby, there was only one thing on his mind: the Parasitic Furball, and its unique abilities. He had just witnessed its prowess first hand, destroying the mission crystal. Not only was it reduced to dust, the Parasitic Furball even formed an ultimate item like the Afterimages of the Angels. If the other adventurers were to learn of this, there would be a massive uproar within the entire Boundless World. With the gain of the Afterimages of the Angel, Ye Chen had descended the path of no return. With the remaining two seeds of the Parasitic Furball, he could even bring out even more exciting surprises!
If he wished to create items of high worth, he had to find unique and one-of-a-kind non-living things for the Parasitic Furball to break down.
The instant this thought passed through his mind, an item surfaced from his memories. There was one item, very famous with the game, known by all adventurers from all walks of life.
“The Ruins of Fossils! It looks like I need to find time to make a trip down!”
Glancing at the two remaining seeds in his inventory, Ye Chen’s heart turned restless with excitement.
The Ruins of Fossils was a famous city in the Oriental Region of Titan Megacity. The entire cityscape consisted of ancient ruins. Across the area, fossils and relics were a common find. However, the city would not have been so famous if not for one thing: the Mega-Fossilized Egg.
With a staggering height of more than seven meters, a pair of gray-white fossil wings extended from the back of the egg majestically. The extraordinary appearance had piqued the interest of countless adventurers, sparking a myriad of rumors across the forums. The egg was not just a simple egg, but home to an incredible, tameable beast. The Mega-Fossilized Egg was like a chest, holding tons of rare Equipment within it. Some even claimed even more inconceivable news, that the egg kept a hidden portal, that the wings could be crafted into special flying equipment!
All of the rumors were enticing, attracting adventurers from across the region to pay the Ruins of Fossils a visit. From them, with the mystifying of the Mega-Fossilized Egg, waves after waves of adventurers come and go through the gates of the city.
Similarly, Ye Chen was not foreign to the mysterious fossil. Like all other adventurers, he once had a brimming interest in the Mega-Fossilized Egg. He had spent hours analyzing the fossil, attempting to excavate some novel ideas or clues.
Alas, the similarity with the others extended beyond that He, too, failed to find any points of interest. Even so, he could tell that the Mega-Fossilized Egg was not any ordinary item.
In the process, Ye Chen had heard news and information from the mouths of several NPCs. The Ruins of Fossils had gone through a tumultuous past, facing several threats of complete obliteration. It was due to the countless catastrophes that the city had collected so many fossils across the period. In fact, numerous cities that once stood on this location had been built and torn down.
Over time, data about the appearance of this Mega-Fossilized Egg had been lost. Together with the city, it went through wars after wars, disasters after disasters. Despite the chaotic events, it had stood firmly and flawlessly at this same spot. Years past, and then decades flew by, scars of time built upon the infrastructure, showing the long history of the city. However, not a single bruise of chaos or wrinkle of time made it onto the Mega-Fossilized Egg.
It was due to this that Ye Chen, like many other adventurers, held the firm belief that the Mega-Fossilized Egg was special. However, no one managed to excavate this huge fossil. Now that Ye Chen possessed the Parasitic Furball, he had to give it a try!
There were no other items that he thought could be a better match than the Mega-Fossilized Egg!
However, it was still not wise to act rashly, especially under a time constraint. At the moment, he had many other things to deal with. If not, he would have long been standing in front of the Mega-Fossilized Egg.
He fixed this trip to the Ruins of the Fossils into his agenda and headed for the Trade Lobby.
As usual, the Trade Lobb was bustling with life. Hordes of adventurers hustled about, entering the lobby while some left with bags full of new finds. Sales calls, bargains, and arguments blended into a lively cacophony of noise. From the crowd, a malicious looking Assassin approached, “Brother, do you want some Poisonous Vines seeds?”
“No, thanks.” Ye Chen declined.
The Poisonous Vine was a skill limited to Botanist above Level 25. From the Professional Tutors, the skill was available for 25 Gold. Seeds were also sold at the guild but in limited numbers. Many Botanists had to procure more from the marketplace to sustain their usage.
However, this skill was non-essential for Ye Chen. He had a more reliable offensive plant, the Durian Bomb Tree. The seeds from the Botanist Guild would definitely be sufficient.
“Then, how about Lucky Poppy Seeds? It is super rare!!”
Seeing Ye Chen’s disinterest in the Poisonous Vines, the Assassin seemed to believe that Ye Chen was not interested in conventional seeds, bringing out some grayish-black seeds.
“Lucky Poppy?” A strand of shock flickered across Ye Chen’s expression.
This Assassin had done his research. Lucky Poppy was a rare plant, not many Botanists would own the seeds
“How many do you have? What’s your price?”
As a Botanist, collecting rare seeds was a must, even if they were not usable. In any case, collecting potentially valuable items was much wiser than stocking up gold within the vaults. Indeed, Ye Chen had not learned the skill, Lucky Poppy, yet. But he did not rule out the possibilities of learning it in the future. The problems of seed stock plagued him now, be it for Durian Bomb Tree or Parasitic Furball or the Quartz Flower. He had to stock up on seeds at every moment. The Botanist truly lived up to its name as a troublesome, pain-inflicting profession!
“Five for twenty, no negotiations.” Curtly, the Assassin, set the final deal.
“Fine, deal.” While the price seemed comparatively higher to other seeds, it was still reasonable. It was usual for rare seeds to fetch a high price anyways. In some sense, being a Botanist demanded a firm resolve to “burn money” when necessary.
As they traded, the Assassin’s name drew cold sweat from Ye Chen. This brawny, malicious Assassin went by the name, Womanizer.
“Oh Brother, you are the Page of Lingering Dust?”
“Oh? You know me?” That was perplexing for Ye Chen.
“Hehe, Brother Dust, do you have any idea how famous you are now? You are already on the blacklist of Warring Dragon Guild. You better be careful on the streets.” Womanizer laughed.
Realization dawned on Ye Chen. This situation was unsurprising, but the quick decision on Warring Dragon Guild’s side was slightly unexpected. He had barely returned to Titan Megacity, and his status as a wanted man was already known across the entire city. “Oh, I didn’t know that. Thanks, Brother.”
“Ah, you’re welcome. Still, destroying Warring Dragon Guild’s important mission is an ultra-impressive feat!” As Womanizer spoke, his face flushed with admiration.
“Nah, we just got lucky.” Sweat trickled down Ye Chen’s temples. He was not used to being stared at by such a brawny man with glistening eyes of respect.
“Come on, let’s be friends.”
Womanizer was confident in his judgment of Ye Chen, sending a friend request immediately. While Ye Chen’s level was still low, it did not affect his status as an expert.
“Alright.” Ye Chen nodded. “I still have some errands to run, let’s keep in contact!”
Womanizer nodded and went to other adventurers, actively promoting his goods. Bidding goodbye to Womanizer, Ye Chen walked to an empty stall.
In the Trade Lobby, stalls could be rented for 1 Gold per hour, with an adventurer renting a maximum of 8 stalls at one time.
As Ye Chen had many items to sell, he unhesitantly got the maximum at once. In any case, this little gold was quickly earned by just selling one item.
Quickly, all of the items he picked up from the previous battle were marked with a price and on sale. Happy with his products, he turned and left the Trade Lobby.
“Oh my God! Who’s listing so many Silver Equipment at once? God, there’s even three Gold Equipment! Which guild got robbed?” Not long later, an adventurer discovered Ye Chen’s stall. The moment the items entered his gaze, he could not hold back his gasp.
Almost everything listed Silver tier and above, but the attributes of each Equipment were also decent. It was hard to believe that any single adventurer could own so many high tier equipment at once!
“The attributes are good, the price is also reasonable. We can’t miss out on this. I need to see who wants this stuff.”
Sweeping his eyes across the price markings, he found the prices lower than he imagined. Within instants, he had done free advertising for Ye Chen.
“FUCKING HELL! Isn’t this the equipment that we lost?”
Before the adventurer could call on his friends, another group of adventurers arrived first. By mistake, one of them opened Ye Chen’s listings. As he saw the equipment names and attributes, molten magma engulfed him entirely.
