- Chapter 222: [Bonus Chapter] Chance For Title Growth?
Of course, to the players who were being carried dying once or twice was no big deal to and they could easily gain the lost experience back.
Or rather than that, they would be overenthusiastic and end up being a little too wild making some mistake and dying. Most didn’t mind it as they were here for fun, and knew that dying was part of the game.
But all this still meant that they would end up losing the chance of getting the title.
“Though the uproar after the people learned about the title was crazy…” Arthur recalled the sensational news articles and coverage.
There was also a lot of outrage from the players when they found out that this was something they wouldn’t be able to obtain ever again. They complained against Hypnotek but were ignored.
But when even the top players and major investors started to show discontentment, the company was forced to give out a statement that even they didn’t know this title existed.
It turned out that the title had been created by the AI running the game and had been in existence since the start. But since the company had a strict policy of minimal in-game interference, they wouldn’t just seek out hidden titles.
It would be against the spirit of the game where they wanted the players to discover everything on their own.
Of course they also proposed the option of remaking one’s game avatar but that was not an option for the majority. No one would give up their year long progress just to obtain a title.
Only the newer players tried to get the title which could boost their stats by 10% as long as they didn’t die for 10 days.
It was one of the absolute best titles to have and many new players aimed for it afterwards.
Since one could only have 5 titles equipped at one time, the title slots were valuable. At the start, one might not have that many titles but later on, many players would have accumulated a decent amount of titles.
One who survived 10 days became something almost everyone wanted and was in most of the template guides for new players. Of course, whether they could obtain it was another thing. It was truly tough to get, even with the assistance of others, as all the ‘supporting’ players that carried them would also have to be new accounts.
As such it also became an avenue for making money for some of the weaker players. They might not have talent in the overall game play, but they would deliberately keep their levels low to help others out for a fee.
If one failed it though, they would have to restart with a new account and also having spent several days of time. As such other than the really rich people who had plenty of time and money, not many actually took this route. Instead choosing to get it on their own.
But most became frustrated and gave up on the title, opting to just get some other equipment or skills that might give them something equal or higher.
Even for Arthur it was the same. He didn’t dare to reset his account and just used the titles he had. In just a year’s time he had around 20 titles. Of course, these weren’t necessarily great titles, but they were still better than nothing.
Many titles also became obsolete when one obtained better versions of them or just others that were more suitable. Players would change their titles according to their needs, depending on whether they were doing a particular type of quest or if they were exploring some new area.
Thinking about this though, a certain idea appeared in Arthur’s mind.
‘Hmm… Considering the 10 day survival requirement it seems like a title that is progressive. Perhaps it can be grown even further?’ Arthur wondered.
It made sense as there were many titles and achievements that could grow and improve if one satisfied successively growing requirements.
One of the best examples for this was the coin achievement. One could obtain it at 1000 gold coins, 10,000 gold coins, 100,000 gold coins and so on and so forth.
Another example was the slayer titles one could obtain when killing certain types of beasts.
Killing 100 beasts of a single type would get you the basic version of the title, then 1000 would get you the next version and continue to do so until you hit the highest version of the title.

‘If it really is possible then would the stat growth be similar too?’ Arthur couldn’t help but wonder if it was possible to stack the stat increase by 20, 30 or even 50%?
“What if it can be taken to 100%? What would her requirements be, not die for 100 days? Would it be that simple?” Arthur’s mind went wild.
Of course the actual feat of surviving 50 days without dying not to mention 100 days was simply unthinkable to Arthur. Even with all his knowledge about the game and the future, he didn’t have the confidence of being able to do something like that.
‘But if the requirement is less than 50 days… hmm, perhaps 30 or less? I just might be able to do that.’ Arthur reckoned.
He didn’t know how close he was to the requirement, but he didn’t have high hopes.
“There’s always a chance additional conditions could be added to the next sequential title. A 5th condition…” Arthur muttered to himself.
Figuring out that 5th condition would be very difficult and fulfilling it might be even tougher. And there was a high chance it might not even exist in the first place!
~sigh~
“No use in thinking too much about it. I already got the title I wanted… 10% passive stat boost just for not dying is perfect on its own.” Arthur said to himself.
After all, it would mean that a player found a quest or a boss hard, they could simply stay in safe areas for 10 days to get the stat boost at maximum and then attempt it.
