VRMMORPG: Dragomancer Reborn - Chapter 226 Great Terror
Terror was a mental debuff that could be inflicted by enemies with an active skill that could cause it or passively when the level disparity between them was high.
It would usually just stun the players and the duration of it was determined by how high their Will stat was. Most of the mental debuffs’ effectiveness was determined through the Will stat and as such it had importance that most players wouldn’t realize until later.

In the early to mid game, most of the foes they encountered didn’t have such skills and even if they did they were not as effective. A couple to 10 seconds of stun was something players could still handle.
But as they grew and progressed through the game, they would start encountering stronger foes that could easily inflict them with terror. Granted the duration of stun through it might be smaller, but with multiple foes using it at once, things ramped up really fast.
As such they would start adding extra points to balance out the Will stat as well as seek out equipment that could help boost it. These were the 2 common ways they could boost it as temporary status boosting items as such potions were very rare in the case of Will stat.
Only certain buff skills from priests and mages could help increase one’s will.
But Great Terror was different.
It was something only enemies of a certain category could obtain. The game itself didn’t have a particular term for them, but the players called them transcendants.
Transcendants could be hostile, neutral or friendly. Though more often than not they were hostile or neutral. The Deities and other beings related to them also fell in this category.
In fact, most of the players who had experienced the Great Terror Debuff was due to a Deity. This was either part of a determined path of a quest or due to the players infuriating them somehow.
The latter became common as the players continued to progress.
Great Terror was several times worse than Terror as it didn’t just stun someone, but also lowered their Variable stats which were none other than HP, MP and Stamina.
What was worse was that Will Stat’s effectiveness was halved when defending against Great Terror.
For example, if someone with 100 Will stat could reduce the effects of a normal Terror Stun to 10 seconds, they would need 200 or more to do the same for Great Terror. And this was considering that the other person had equal or similar stats to the player.
With their variance the duration could increase further.
In the case of Arthur it had gone another level above that. There was simply no duration for the debuff!
‘How is this possible…’ Arthur was overwhelmed by the series of notification that had popped up.
He had been inflicted by Great Terror several times in his past life, but never had it been this bad.
There was no timer on how long he was stunned or how long the debuffs would last.
‘The reduction to my max variable stats is also 50%. Even the Deities who inflicted Great Terror didn’t go that high… just who or what is that Mage?’ Arthur was at a loss.
He couldn’t move and was stuck in the place. He couldn’t even shift his eyes as they felt to be paralyzed. What he didn’t realize that his mind was running faster than usual and not even two seconds had passed.

And then he felt it… or rather he saw it.
Piercing Silver eyes gazed at from the distance.
‘That Mage… is glaring at me…’ Arthur thought as the eyes kept getting bigger.
He was sure that the person hadn’t come close, and yet he felt like the glaring eyes became intense. Eventually they grew so big that all Arthur could see were the two silver eyes.
He could see the details so closely, it was as if he was looking at them at a breath’s distance.
They had a white outline, and shone in a silver light. But the pupils themselves were dark like the abyss and held miserable cries within them.
Never had Arthur seen eyes like this and it made his very soul shake. He felt fear like the day he had died and also when he had gotten the Dragomancer class.
‘Who is this… a deity? A god?’ Arthur wondered. ‘No that cannot be… there would have been a notification if it was one of them.’ He figured out.
The time kept on getting diluted and each second was like a minute.
The eyes glared into his and went deeper. Soon Arthur felt like they were staring at his very soul!
By this time, Arthur understood that the person who was glaring at him was probably not a Mage. Heck, they might not even be something he could comprehend at all.
They might not be a deity or a god, but he was extremely sure they were almost on the same level.
‘How did I end up encountering them here? Is my Luck falling so badly?’ Arthur couldn’t help but question himself.
~Shatter~
It was then that Arthur suddenly heard a breaking sound. It had come from above him and made the silver eyes waver.
‘Huh?’ Arthur felt the fear in his body fading and he could think better.
He was still unable to move but could at least sense more of his surroundings now.
‘Wait… the eyes are gone now.’ Arthur saw the giant silver eyes disappearing.
He was still looking at where the unknown silver eyed person was but they weren’t gazing at him now. Instead, they were looking in another direction.
>Great Terror has been forcibly canceled!<
>Player Arzhur is no longer stunned!<
“HAA!” Arthur took a deep breath upon being freed.
“Player Variable stats!” he quickly checked.
~DING~
HP: 50%
MP: 50%
Stamina: 50%
‘The debuff is gone and its no longer restraining my max HP, but the fall is still there.’ Arthur knew that he would have to take a potion to recover.
