VRMMORPG: Dragomancer Reborn - Chapter 228 End Of A Nightmare
Ten minutes had passed by while the battle between the Silver Eyed person and the Night Slayer had continued. The battle seemed to have been in a stalemate at first, but Arthur could tell that the Night Slayer was on the losing side.
~SHATTER~
His movements had become slow and he was finally struck with another attack that caused his armor to shatter apart. His cursed flesh was finally revealed which looked like rotten leather.
There were eerie runes branded into his flesh and were impossible to discern. Black blood spilled out of his wounds while a pungent scent spread from it.
~SPLATTER~
Blood splattered everywhere as another spell hit the Night Slayer. It was an unknown spell that Arthur could not recognize. It had appeared like a heptagon around the Night Slayer and had suddenly contracted, coursing through his body.
The Impact was great and yet no cry was heard coming from the Night Slayer. It was as if he felt no pain, and was not a mortal being. But his wavering body and strength showed that he was still a mortal in the end.
~Thud~
The Night Slayer crashed into the ground, landing on one knee as he bore through the power of the attacks. This was possibly the worst condition that Night Slayer had been in, not just now but also in Arthur’s previous life.
‘For someone to bring the famed Night Slayer to their knees… Just who are they?’ Arthur couldn’t help but wonder again.
~CLANG~
The Night Slayer’s Great Sword fell from the sky and embedded itself near him. The man had lost grip on the blade sometime earlier and it had been launched further into the sky while he himself crashed to the ground.
The Great Sword wasn’t unscathed either and had evidently suffered a lot as fine cracks could be seen going along its blade’s surface. Fine black smoke was also leaking from the cracks, showing that it was losing more than just its durability.
Arthur couldn’t help resist and used Dragon’s Insight once more.
>Dragon’s Insight has succeeded!<
Much to his surprise, the skill actually worked. And not just partially but completely!
~DING~
Target: Valkor’s Cursed Blade
[Attack: 212-290] [Durability: 3/100]
[Equipping Requirement: Level 120 above]
[Degenerated Weapon]
Info: Made by the Curse King Valkor and one of his first creations. Was used by him greatly during his conquest and lasted a hundred years. With his victory, the Blade was abandoned as it had fulfilled its purpose.
ndαsvεl m
The Blade has lost most of its true abilities over time and is weakened greatly.
<Active Skills>
None [Degenerated]
Looking at the weapon’s information, Arthur finally figured out why Dragon’s Insight had worked.
‘The level requirement to use the blade is 120 and its within the limit of my own level.’ Arthur understood. ‘But to think this was made by Valkor too…’ he was intrigued.
Valkor was a character that few players had heard about but there was still information on the forums if one reached for it. He had a few different identities which made it hard for players to figure out who he exactly was. But some had managed to extrapolate from the existing data and figured out that he was a King long ago in the world of Somnium.
There was no information about what he had done or what his feats were other than a few weapons that could be found overtime by players.
The issue was that these weapons weren’t necessarily good.
All of them had the special debuff [Degenerated] which basically meant that the weapon was damaged beyond repair. It was different than normal fall of durability and was more about the overall loss of the weapon’s abilities.
For most weapons that had [Degenerated] on them, they would either have no skills or their attack power would be lowered.
‘But for Valkor’s Cursed Blade, the attack power is still quite high…’ Arthur was surprised by it.
A normal weapon of around level 120 requirement would have an attack power that would barely be around 150. Higher quality weapons could have better stats of course, but the weapon in question was already degenerated.
This made Arthur think of its true power.
‘If it is this strong even when Degenerated, how good it would be when it was in its peak condition?’ he wondered.
~SHUA~
But he couldn’t continue to think, as his attention was brought to the next spell that hit the Night Slayer. It was in the form of a scorching red arc that flew in from the distance. It made the very air tremble, and it heated up rapidly.
~hiss~
The moisture in the air turned hot and converted into steam dispersing quickly. One could only imagine the power contained within the spell.
Arthur couldn’t even see the spell’s proper form as it was too fast and as such didn’t identify what it was. And a moment later, the spell hit the Night Slayer’s Neck!
In the next second, the Night Slayer’s head rolled off and flames ignited on him. The fire spread quickly and burned his body and head away.
The fragments of his metal armor burned fast and covered his shoulders. There, they burned away the rivets that were holding the dark cape in its place.
~WHOOSH~
The billowing winds took the dark cape away with it, as it had been freed from its rivets. The Night Slayer’s body entirely turned into ash and barely anything was left behind after a few seconds.
Arthur who watched it all with wide eyes almost couldn’t believe it.
‘The nightmare of the players that would terrify them for a long time… is dead… just like this?’ Arthur gulped in uncertainty.
He was unsure how the flow of events was going before due to his interference with various things. So far the changes had been minor but, now he knew with 100% assurance that the series of events had fucked up… hard.
“There is no Night Slayer… and now there is some unknown high leveled Transcendent NPC… fuck.”
