VRMMORPG: Dragomancer Reborn - Chapter 242 A Tired But Happy Guild Master
>Player Arzhur has logged in to Morpheus Online<
~shua~
Arthur’s avatar manifested in the inn, having been refreshed.
“At least logging out and logging in again clears out the avatar’s state.” Arthur said looking at his appearance.
Before he logged out there had been a lot of blood and dirt on his armor as well as body. But now that he had returned, it had been cleared out.
“Anyway, let’s head to the Guild.” Arthur said and went out.
~Ding~
>You have a new message from Player Val<
But upon steeping out the notification for a message popped up.
“Ah, she’s probably wondering if I’m in or not.” Arthur opened the message.
<Val: Are you free today? I want to give you the coins back.>
~Ding~
But in the next second, another message popped up.
<Val: And maybe we can play together today too… if you are free and want to.>
“Hmm… I guess we can do something.” Arthur muttered before replying to her.
<Arzhur: Meet me at the guild. I’ll head there.>
<Val: Sure!>
With that said, Arthur soon reached the guild.
“The number of players sure increased fast.” Arthur said looking at the crowd of players outside.
There were people talking to each other, as well as planning out their tasks for today. Some were making parties while some were still seeking out people to add to their parties.
And of course, there was never a lack of players simply goofing around and doing silly things.
“IMMA TAKE A LEAP OF FAITH!” Arthur heard a shout and looked up.
A player had somehow managed to climb to the top of the guild roof!
“EEEEEEEEEEE” The man screamed as he jumped off the roof.
Arthur looked at where the man was jumping and saw a pile of hay there.
~Sigh~
Arthur couldn’t help but facepalm seeing that.
~SPLAT~
>Player XxEziolover999xX has taken fatal fall damage!<
>Player XxEziolover999xX has died!<
“AHAHAHA!” People started laughing.
“That dumb fuck did it!”
“He actually thought it was real!”
“Aight! That’ll be 20 copper coins y’all!” A player started collecting his winnings.
“Dammit! Even if the game allows a lot of freedom, I should have known the fall would be too much.” The person who had lost the bet regretted it.
Arthur simply chuckled and shook his head. “They never change…”
It was just one of the many shenanigans the players were up to and even the guards standing around seemed to be ignoring it. Arthur could see the unbothered look on their faces and knew that they were already getting used to it.
Unlike before, the guards were no longer reacting to what players did unless it broke rules or was too much.
‘They’ll get desensitized even more for sure.’ Arthur thought to himself and stepped into the guild.
Getting in was a little difficult due to the sheer number of players going in and out, but Arthur simply gave everyone a stern look as if he were a NPC and pushed through. The players didn’t even dare to resist as they knew what would happen if they fought an ‘NPC’ that strong.
As such, Arthur directly pushed through the players and went to the office of the guild master.
The man had reduced going out as much, since he kept on being stalked by players.
‘I’m surprised he hasn’t killed a few already.’ It was a common thing in Arthur’s past.
Neutral and even allied NPCs would lash out at players that would harass them. It lowered the reputation of players of course, but they simply did it for fun and didn’t care much. Some would even do quests to raise their reputation and then go do harass NPCs again.
~knock~knock~knock~
Arthur knocked on the office door, and waited.
“It’s me, Arzhur.” Arthur called out.
It took 30 seconds before the man actually opened the door.
“You’re back,” A man with deep eye bags appeared.
Arthur raised his brows as he looked at the changed appearance of the guild master. He looked to be a lot more tired than before and seemed like he hadn’t been sleeping either.
“What happened to you?” Arthur questioned.
“Work… too much work…” Caleb answered before turning around.
Arthur closed the door behind him and walked with him to the desk.
~thud~
Caleb slumped into his chair and rubbed his face.
“The past six days have been a PAIN!” Caleb groaned. “They… just don’t… rest… They keep on coming…”
“The Otherworlders?” Arthur asked.
“OF COURSE! WHO ELSE WOULD BE AWAKE ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT!” Caleb shouted before slumping back into his chair.
“Ah yeah… they can be a pain.” Arthur didn’t tell the man this was just the start and it would probably get worse later.
He didn’t exactly know how the NPCs adapted to it in his past life, since they were long used to it when he started playing. There was also a lack of information about it in the forums.
~pop~
Caleb opened a bottle of alcohol and poured himself a glass.
~GULP~
He downed the entire glass in one go and let out a breath.
“That’s a bit better.” Caleb said in a slightly better voice. “Now then, what are you here for?” he finally asked.
“The quest is done.” Arthur said and quickly took out the Rock Bee Wax from the ‘bag’.
Since the Night’s Abyssal Cape could summon items stored within it to anywhere within 1 meter, Arthur simply pretended to take things out of his bags.
“HUH!” Caleb’s expression changed quickly and it no longer seemed to be as tired as before.
He picked up the slab of Rock Bee Wax that looked like it had been melted and solidified again.
“You got more than the amount needed.” Caleb said feeling the weight in his hands. “At least half a kilogram?” he estimated.
“That’s right.” Arthur nodded his head.
“Great! Some good news finally!” Caleb said before taking out a coin pouch and placing it on the desk. “Here’s your reward with the bonus.”
Arthur picked up the coin pouch and counted the coins in it.
“Seven gold coins?” Arthur was a bit surprised.
“Gave you a little extra on top since the quality of the Rock Bee Wax is better than I thought. Most bring it all crumbly and mixed with dirt. But your looks much cleaner.” Caleb replied.
“Ah yeah, I managed to harvest it in better conditions.” Arthur replied. “Glad that you like it.”
~Ding~
>Player Arzhur has completed the quest Obtain Rock bee Wax!<
With the announcement popping up, Arthur was satisfied.
>Bonus experience will be granted for completing a quest!<
>Player Arzhur has obtained 15% experience!<
>Player Arzhur has leveled up!<
>Player Arzhur has obtained 10 free stat points!<
‘Perfect!’ The bonus from the quest was just enough for Arthur to level up again.

He glanced at the stats and found them to be a bit lacking considering what he would have to deal with later.
‘It should be fine if I use up a bit more than half of the Free Stat points for now. Having just 50 in backup should be more than enough for tough conditions.’ Arthur reckoned.
But he didn’t add the points right away, instead choosing to do so later after meeting up with Val.
“Oh yeah, do you have any more quests?” Arthur asked the Guild Master.
“I should have some soon, but not today. Most of the quests we get are flying off with the rapid increase in the adventurers.
Of course, they are failing a lot of them too, but they still succeeded after a few tries.” The guild master replied.
Arthur could tell that the man was actually happy when he said this.
‘No wonder he hasn’t started bashing the player’s skulls in yet. He is holding back since they are actually getting things done.’ Arthur thought to himself.
“Well, I do have some smaller quests if you want. But I don’t think you want to go out to gather herbs, do you?” Caleb asked.
“Yeah… it’s not really worth it.” Arthur replied. “Let the newbies do it.”
“Exactly,” Caleb replied. “At least we’re having no lack of supplies now due to the Otherworlders doing a lot of gathering and hunting quests. The clerical staff was even saying that in a couple of weeks, we might have a surplus of goods and would have to start exporting it to other towns.” He explained.
Hearing that, Arthur was interested, as this was actually a clue to another progression quest.
The first quest that would let players go to the city officially!
