Vyr’s Journey Through The Multiverse - Chapter 15

On the beacon cliff, the students were lined up on small one person platforms. Vyr had made sure she got a launch pad that would launch before ruby’s would.

(Ozpin)”For years you all have trained to become warriors. And today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald forest.”

(Glynda)”Now, i’m sure many of you have heard rumors about the ȧssignment of teams. Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates . . . Today.”

Ruby made a few nervous and scared noises until Vyr caught her attention and gave her a reassuring stare.

(Ozpin)”These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well. That being said the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years.”

Ruby seemed to shatter at this realization. Vyr seeing Ozpin being serious said to ruby “Don’t worry he said eye contact. When you land, don’t move and I’ll come to you. I’ll keep an eye on you while I’m going first. All you need to do is keep your eyes closed and sense the area around you without opening them. That way we can be sure we are paired up.”

Ozpin smiled hearing their conversation and thought ‘well played.’

(Ozpin)”After you’ve partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path, or you will die. You will be monitored and graded for the duration of your initiation. But our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item , as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?”

(Jaune)”Yeah, um, sir-”

Before he could finish, Ozpin said “Good! Now, take your positions.”

“Hey, can we use any tactic we want for landing?” Vyr asks while adjusting her new weapons.

She had realized her witcher swords were just not for her, and while the Artorias set was still being made, she decided to just buy a weapon from the system. After coming to this decision she bought many of her favorite weapons and armors from the Dark Souls 3 world. It had cost her most of her points, but she didn’t really care. For now she decided to go with one of her all time favorites, Friede’s Great Scythe. What was great about the Dark Souls weapons was if she just tried swinging them without thinking, she would automatically use the move sets from the game. It even worked on the special abilities. She could even change how they worked or moved if she wanted, though it cost her a lot more energy if she did. Even the armor’s special effects still worked. The best part though was the fact she could use the boss’s move set if the weapon was gained from a boss. Meaning with Friede’s Great Scythe she could even go invisible, or use the black flames.

Ozpin nodded to Vyr’s question before going back to half ignoring and half responding to Jaunes questions.

Vyr saw Ozpin nod and quickly formed the armor she wanted. The armor she chose wasn’t her prototype form, since she wanted to keep it a secret awhile longer. It was the Dancer’s of the boreal valley set of armor.

Everyone was surprised when she burst into multi colored particles, but they were even more surprised to see the particles reform into armor. Vyr was standing in the same spot but now she was covered in armor with a helmet under her arm. Vyr smiled to ruby, who looked like she might jump on Vyr for not showing her the armor before now, while she put the helmet on. Once the helmet was in place the weird silk hanging from the armor started to glow and become even more ethereal. Having readied her armor Vyr readied her Scythe, leaving the shorter of the pair on her back.

People were beginning to launch at this point and Jaune was freaking out. He looked at Ozpin and asked “Did you hand out parachutes or something?”

(Ozpin)”No~. you will be coming up with your own landing strategy.”

While this was happening Vry suddenly got launched. And a few seconds after ruby was too. In the air Vyr kept her focus on Ruby. she said they would be on the same team and she would do her best to keep her word. While watching Ruby and estimating the distance between their landing points, Vyr used multiple reversed Aards on herself to slow her descent and alter her course. Right before she hit the treeline she could hear Ruby shout “Birdy NO~!!” before a squawking sound. She laughed to herself while using her scythe to hook trees and alter her direction to be the same as where she estimated ruby was.

When She arrived Ruby was sitting on a tree stump with her eyes closed. Vyr was excited to see everything was ok and let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. She quickly walked up and hugged ruby while saying ” yes! Told you this would work!”

(Ruby)”Vyr! I’m happy too, but could you please let go? You’re crushing me against your armor.”

“Oh sorry, I kinda lost myself there. So, Which way are we heading?”

“You don’t know the way?”

“Oh I do, but I want to see how you do. I trust you, so i’m gonna follow your lead while we are at Beacon. With a couple of exceptions of course. So! Where are we headed?”

Ruby looked surprised and excited as she looked around before she said “North obviously, the thing is i don’t know which way is north.”

“At least you admit it. North is that way. It’s time to put your training to the test. Stay calm and I know you’ll do great.”

They quickly set off to the north. After a few minutes of walking they arrived at a clearing. When they were walking into the clearing they locked eyes with Weiss who was coming in from the other side.

Wiess realizing who it was shouted “Oh, no! Not you again!” and quickly turned around to storm off into the woods.

Vyr sighed and said “Well that was close it seemed like the two of you would have met if I wasn’t fast enough.”

“Yeah. i think we should speed up. I wanna beat yang to the temple.”

“Sure but dont drop your guard while we run. We need to-” as vyr was talking Weiss returned looking even madder than when she left.

(Vyr & Ruby)””You came back?””

(weiss)”this doesn’t make us friends”

(Vyr)”Yeah sure whatever. Just keep up and stay out of the way, princess. Ruby, do we still rush for the goal or do we slow down?”

Weiss was about to smart off when Ruby said “I still wanna win so let’s keep going.”

The two set off ignoring the protests of Weiss. Seeing they weren’t listening to her Weiss huffed but followed anyway.

They walked for a few more minutes before both Vyr and ruby stopped and readied their weapons. Weiss looked at them with apprehension and said “What are you, dumb? Why did you stop”. She didn’t have to worry long though because both ruby and Vyr vanished when she looked at the path they had just come from. Looking around she readied her rapier thinking ‘Where did they go?’ After a few more seconds she asked aloud “Where did you go?”

Right after she asked, the bushes around her started to shake. As she tried to see through the bushes she realized, A pack of beowolfs had her surrounded!

Weiss readied her sword and got into the stance she trained. When she went to attack the Beowulf in front of her, she was preempted by Vyr and ruby. The two had suddenly reappeared , and with their reappearance the beowolfs slowly started to disappear.

While Weiss made surprised and irritated noises, Vyr complimented Ruby on her skills, ignoring the noises she was making. Ruby and Vyr acted like this was normal, and began to walk away. While Weiss was shocked at how fast they eliminated the Grimm. She was about to question them about their training but she noticed they were already disappearing. She huffed before rushing to catch up once again.

It only took a few more minutes for the three to make it to the ruins. They saw no one else there when they arrived, so they went ahead and picked their pieces.

(Vyr) “Sorry ruby. Looks like someone else got here first.”

“What awww man!”

(Weiss)”What makes you so sure?”

“Its chess pieces on pedestals. Some pieces are missing with pedestals empty.”

Before Weiss could respond Blake and yang came out of the forest.

Yang, seeing the group, yelled “Sisters” and pulled the two into a bone crushing hug. Vyr was shocked at how she couldn’t breath even though she was wearing armor.

While yang was attempting murder on her sisters, Weiss and Blake were having a stare off. Having seen what she wanted, apparently Blake smirked before looking at the relics.

(Blake)”Yang, what piece should we take?”

Yang released her two prisoners and said “How about a cute horsey?!”

Blake smiled at her and nodded. Remembering the mission ruby quickly hopped up and grabbed a Knight piece while saying “This ok with you Vyr?”

Vyr looked up from the ground where she had been left and said “Whatever you want Ruby. i Just need a sec.”

As she said this Jaune flew by and landed in the forest. Before anyone could respond an ursai with a girl on its back came from the direction of where Jaune fell.

(Nora)”YeeHaw~!!” After the Ursai fell to the ground Nora stood up and said “Awww~! I broke it~.”

Following behind her was a tired Ren who was carrying Jaune on his shoulder. He looked at Nora and said “Nora? Please … Don’t ever do that again.”

Sadly Nora was not there anymore. She had already ran off and grabbed a castle piece, and started to sing about being a queen.

“NORA!” Ren yelled, tossing Jaune onto the ground next to Vyr who was getting up.

(Nora)”Coming Ren~!” (A/N Gutter brain No!)

As Yang was questioning Nora’s choice of mounts, Pyrrha came running by with a Death stalker chasing her. Vyr saw the beast and asked ruby “Hey can i go kill it? It looks like a good fight!”

(Ruby)”No, we need to work together. I want you to help pyrrha. I’ll set up a plan while you two distract it, then we will all take it down together.”

(Vyr)”I could just kill it you know?”

Weiss scoffs at her, and says “Even Pyrrha Nikos is running and you think you can take it. You overestimate yourself.”

Vyr ignores her and listens to Ruby as she says” I don’t doubt your ability Vyr, but we can take the chance and be safe. Plus you did say teamwork makes the dream work.”

“Urgh. of all my stupid sayings thats the one you remember. Fine you’re the boss, but you owe me one.” having said what she wanted Vyr dashed towards Pyrrha to give support.

When she got there Pyrrha was just about to take a bad hit on her shield. Seeing this Vyr used the shorter scythe she carried and made a ice wall to block the attack. This gave Pyrrha a chance to catch her breath as she said ‘ thank you. That wouldn’t have been nice.”

(Vyr)”don’t mention it. Are you ok to keep fighting?”

“I’ll be fine, but what about the others?”

“They want us to keep it busy while they come up with a plan. Are you good with that? I can do it alone if you want.”

“No, i’ll fight -” Pyrrha was cut off as the wall of ice broke, freeing the Death stalker.

The grimm made an angry noise while trying to sting Vyr. Vyr doged the glowing appendage while also using her longer scythe to make a cut on the tail. Pyrrah took the opportunity to back off with a roll and fell into a kneeling position firing her rifle at the beast’s eyes.

They continued to agro swap for a few turns before they heard Juane Yell “Hey! We decided to pull out.We don’t get anything for killing the thing and the mission comes first, we are running for the cliffs!”

Vyr looked at Pyrrha and said “you back off first and I’ll stall it with more ice.”

Pyrrha nods and takes off while Vyr uses her magic scythe again to freeze the grimm’s legs. She then turned around and ran to catch up with the group.

They made for the south as fast as they could. But when they saw the cliff they found a big crevice with ruins built atop it separating them. Sadly that wasn’t all stopping their path. Atop the ruins was a nevermore, and the deathstalker was right behind as well. They didn’t have time to converse so Vyr turned around to delay the deathstalker herself.While this was happening the nevermore went for an attack as well. It launched feathers as big as or bigger than a human at the group separating them into two teams.

(Ruby)”Vyr has got the Death stalker covered, we need to take the nevermore.”

Blake, yang and weiss nod and move to kill the Giant Bird. Jaune sees this and says “They should have that covered. We need to help Vyr with the Death stalker. Nora, and Ren hit it while me and Pyrrha deflect it’s attacks.”

The two teams quickly get to work. When Jaune’s group get to Vyr she is losing ground while parrying the Grimms attacks with her Scythes. Pyrrha and Juane jump in and take the two qincers of her while Nora and ren bombard it from mid range. Vyr seeing this yell” i need a moment, can you give me it without shooting?”

The team hears her and quickly switches to all melee. Vyr smiles and backsteps while sweeping her shorter scythe in front of her and becomes invisible. Juane sees this is shocked and misses his block. This put the entire team in a bad spot, as they tried to cover him from the Grimm’s attack. Vyr reappears on the grimm’s tail with her Scythe under its stinger, she pulls the Scythe to her cutting it stinger off in one move. As the beast reels back and screeches in pain, Ren takes the chance to get Juane out of the way. Vyr jumps off the tail and onto the back of the Grimm. After she found stable footing she pumps all her remaining magic into her Scythe, summoning the black flame. Following Friede’s moveset she launches herself up in a swirl of flame only to come back down onto the death stalker in an explosion of black and white heat. As she lands she buries the twin Scythes into the beast’s face for good measure.

After checking to see if it was dead she then sits exhausted on its corpse while looking at Ruby’s group in the distance. She is just in time to see ruby finish the nevermore off by running up the cliff with her scythe around its neck. As ruby gets to the top the overhang of the cliff stops the nevermores body causing Ruby to cut its head off.. Ruby lands in a crouch as the nevermore’s decapitated head lands next to her.
