Vyr’s Journey Through The Multiverse - Chapter 9

In the months following the arrival of the elves, Kaer morhen valley saw many changes. After the barrier stopped all unauthorized entrance from monsters and humans alike. The elves set to change the Valley itself. Now instead of untamed dangerous forests and dark waters, there were forests carefully changed by the elves to become a lush and vibrant place free of monsters. The waters of the lake were a clear almost turquoise color. When vyr saw them she immediately said “Grand cayman”(look it up). After beginning to regain their heritage the elves did not only change nature around Kaer morhen valley, they also changed civilization. Vast swaths of forest were moved while the areas they were in turned into farms. The far side of the lake now housed an elven city of various architectures. The near side was now a beach that had a path running right up to the north wall of Kaer morhen.

This was the result of the elves hearing Vyr say she wanted to go swimming in the new lake. While Vyr was very happy and planning to bring everyone for a swim, Vesemir was complaining to Aelos how the new path gave intruders access past Kaer Morhen’s walls. Upon hearing this Aelos nodded before saying “it will be fixed.” The next day overnight Kear morhen keep had expanded into the great wall of Kaer morhen, blocking off all entrance to the valley, so the new path to the lake was no longer a concern.

The valley was not the only thing that changed in those months. True to her words Vyr started restoring the elves’ lost heritage to them. They elves after the process had begun changed on a fundamental level. They started to become taller and stronger, it was still a long painful road to go but the elves were more than happy to go the extra mile.

It was late autumn before Geralt decided to allow Vyr’s group to take the last witcher trial. This would be the last trial they had to become a full fledged witcher. This test unlike the others was a trial by fire. They would each have to complete a contract without help.

Upon hearing this Vyr immediately decided to punch vesemir. Walking up to him she smiled and held her arms out like she was gonna give him a hug. Vesemir, seeing this smiled in return and went to hug Vyr as well. As he was about to close his arms around her, she equipped her gauntlets, charged them then gut punched the old man in the stomach. She then turned and left, leaving Vesemir on the ground wondering ‘Why?!What did I do?’.

After discussing with Geralt it was decided her mission would be waved off considering she had already hunted a griffin before she even joined the wolf school. Josh and Trey both took their missions a day later. Both had selected missions relatively nearby.

Trey returned a week later with his hunt. It was a leshen that had been unusually moving from one area to the next. But Josh was late, with no messages.

It had been three weeks since Josh set out but he still didn’t return. As a result Geralt, Trey, and Vyr were preparing to set out the next day to track the boy down, when he walked through the gates of Kaer morhen smiling. He was also caked in mud and debris, with no luggage besides what he had on his person.

Turns out what he thought was a griffin stealing cattle was a wyvern. He had set a trap with a lure for a griffin and the wyvern took his horse, this forced him to walk back after killing the wyvern. Hearing this Geralt “practiced sparing” with him till he had ran out of Swallow potion to take.

The next day was their graduation ceremony. This signaled the start of their new life as witchers. They were each given a wolf school necklace and a pair of witcher swords in their choice of styles. The rest of the day was spent in celebrations and drinking.

It had been two days since then and Vyr was on the beach looking at the elven city in the distance when Geralt sat next to her and asked “do you know where you will go from here?”

Vyr looked at him surprised then shook her head saying “No i don’t. But you need not worry for me this will always be my home. There is still much I want to see and do here. So i will come back when i can. Plus the future holds many things for you, much bad yet even more good.”

“You sound like a bad fortune teller.”

“Mabey” Vyr says getting up and strapping on her swords for the first time. When she does she gets a notification system before her witcher pendant explodes into dust being absorbed into her body.

(System)<congratulations you have taken the first step on your journey. As a reward your wolf school pendant will now be included as if it was a prototype form. This way you may never lose it. Next is the real reward Quest [travel to Beauclair, Toussaint. Then go east. Along the coast there will be an underwater laboratory. Take all the witcher seacrets it holds.] upon completion of the quest world travel is unlocked in the system.>

Vyr looks shocked then as she finishes reading the message she smiles before turning to Geralt and asking “How do you feel about Toussaint?”

That was half a year ago. After staying in the now perpetual spring Valley for the winter, not just Geralt and Vyr, but Josh, Trey, and somehow Vesemir left for toussaint.

They had been on the road for two months now, and had finally entered toussaint territory.

(Vyr)”hey Vesemir. I gotta question for ya. Witchers travel a lot right.”

“Yeah?

“And like Geralt they usually ride horses to do so right?”

“Yeah, what’s your point girl?”

“Nothing I was just thinking with all that riding it doesn’t matter if the trials make you sterile the damn horse riding will anyway!”

Hearing this the group starts laughing. At least they were before a shadow passed overhead. The witchers quickly rode off road making for the treeline before dismounting.

(Vyr)”I gotta nother question for ya. Aren’t griffins supposed to be sorta smart. Then why the fuċk would one attack five witchers on the road?”

(Trey)”Technically that’s not a griffin, it’s a royal griffin. See how big it is?”

(Vyr)”Of course i see how big it is Trey but you’d think with the increase in size the brain would grow as well. This thing is either dumb or running from something. Let’s hope it’s not the second one.”

(Josh)”I don’t want to hear that so let’s hurry up and decide who’s gonna deal with it. Personally i vote Grandmaster Vesemir, that way he can show us how an old witcher does it.”

(Vesemir)”Shut it, you brat. And Vyr there is a reason you missed.”

(Vyr)”there is?What?”

(Geralt)”When it has reinforcements.”

As geralt finishes his sentence a second griffen swoops low and spits acid at the group. They duck and Vyr yells”Fuck!! A royal griffin and an archgriffin. What kinda bull is this? ya know what? i think Josh is right. Vesemir show us brats how it’s done.”

Vesemir looks like he is about to tan Vyr’s hide but Geralt cuts him off saying ” Vesemir and I will take the archgriffin, you three take the royal one.”

The treo looked excited and said “yes!”

As they were about to sprint out geralt said “Vyr no stunts.” in a firm tone.

Vyr let out an “A no fun” while her teammates were laughing. They quickly overpowered the two griffins killing them. It was a pretty easy affare since there were five of them. The only close call was when Josh almost got hit by acid from the angered archgriffin. After the battle the witchers decided to take a break before moving on. As Josh and Trey went to get the horses from the forest, a group of what appeared to be soldiers led by two knights came up the road. After seeing Vyr who was sitting on the royal griffin, as well as Geralt and Vesemir who were talking next to the archgriffin they began to walk over.

When they came up Vyr made herself comfortable on her new seat and watched to see what Vesemir and Geralt would do. The knights ignored vyr, thinking she was a woman playing pretend at being a swordsman. They began to talk with vesemir, asking what he was doing here and how he killed the two beasts. Quickly becoming bored as she watched the knights try and see if they could claim the griffins as their own kills. Vyr leaned back and closed her eyes, listening to the sound of nature.

One of the soldiers seeing this yelled “Hey you freak. What do you think you are doing here? This is no place for a freak like you. I bet you can’t even use those swords, who do you think you are freak, playing pretend swordsman like that? Are you insulting us real swordsmen?”

Geralt hearing this facepalmed and sighed before saying to the knights “You should stop him while you can.”

The knights looked confused before laughing and saying “What? is she gonna kill’em or something. She’s just a woman! That man is a trained soldier.”

It was Vesemir’s turn to sigh and say “i’m sorry for your loss.” before turning to Vyr and saying “Please don’t hurt him too bad. It’s not his fault he’s an idiot.”

Vyr looks at Vesemir and sighs “Fine i won’t leave anything permanent alright?”

Vesemir nods as the laughter grows in volume. Vyr draws her steel sword with one hand and says “Well come on then loudmouth. The griffin didn’t put up a good fight. Let’s see if you’re any different shall we.” the man laughs while moving towards her, his sword drawn. He walks right into vyr’s range expecting this to be his win from the start. So vyr hits him across the face with the blunt side of the sword saying ” what’s wrong big guy? I thought you were a swordsman not a farmer. You didn’t even ready your sword! Is your training bad or just that you never had any?”

The man now fully enraged scrambled to his feet and made a wide swing at Vyr. Seeing how off balance he was just from swinging his sword, Vyr parried the blow and shoulder bashed the man causing him to fall back to the ground coughing and sputtering this time. Bored from the lack of skill the man displayed vyr flicked her sword causing it to hit the man’s hand with the flat of the blade. The man yelped and dropped his sword which Vyr picked up and tossed to Vesemir. She then sheathed her sword and walked towards Geralt. The soldier got up off the ground and drew the dagger on his belt attempting to stab Vyr in the back. Vyr heard the scrap of metal along with the man’s low laughing so she spun and unleashed a roundhouse kick behind her. The kick landed on the man’s mouth, knocking a handful of teeth out. Walking up to Vesemir she said “Sorry i guess i lied. I’m pretty sure he can’t regrow teeth.”

Vesemir shook his head and said “no it aint your fault. He’s the one that drew a knife after you won. Though you didn’t have to anger him.”

Hearing this Vyr tilted her head a bit and said “But that is one of the first tactics you taught us. Piss it off, and put it down.”

The knights hearing this shivered realizing they bit off more than they could chew. They quickly excused themselves before picking up the unconscious man and going back the way they had come. The boys came back soon after and asked why Vesemir now had an extra sword. Explaining what happened the boys both laughed and poked fun of Vyr for beating up a poor “farmer”. They immediately had a change of heart when vyr threatened to not make them food for the rest of their trip.

After their encounter with the knights nothing major happened even after they reached Beauclair. The duchess besides being very eccentric was a kind, and wise lady. She had insisted on meeting Vyr after hearing how she bested one of her soldiers. Surprisingly she seemed to enjoy Vyr’s company quite a bit. Even more so after Vyr talked about music with the duchess. She even let vyr call her Anareitta. As the group of witchers were leaving Anareitta was complaining to Vyr how boring it would be without her there. So when Geralt and Vesemir weren’t looking Vyr pulled a box out of nowhere and gave it to the duchess. Seeing the magic the duchess was about to say something but then she saw Vyr wink at her and motion her to hide the box before leaning in close and saying “Don’t let Geralt or Vesemir know i’m sure this will make your life less boring at least for a while.” Anareitta was cautious at first but eventually accepted the box. The witcher group left quickly after this, but little did they know the box Vyr gave to the duchess would spawn a whole host of problems later.

The group arrived at the coast and vyr let them know why they were there.

(Vyr)”I’m sure you all have realized I’m leaving soon. I will be back dont worry, i will also probably be bringing friends as well. Vesemir Since weird people may show up in the keep from time to time, please take care of them if I’m not with them? *cough* So enough about that stuff I thought I would give you a parting present. The downside is I don’t exactly know where it is. All I know is there is a mage laboratory under the water somewhere near here. The mage was studying witcher mutagens so it should have good lootz.”

(Josh)”I’m not gonna get into all the hugging and crying but i have a question. How do you know that a mage was here and what he was studying, but not he put the damn lab?”

“Ah good question. *throat clearing noises* Fuck you thats how.” having said the final bit vyr turns and jumps into the water with an angry josh and laughing trey following.

Vesemir looked at Geralt and said “she is hiding something.”

(Geralt)”I know. But I will respect her wishes. One day i hope she will tell us everything.”

Vesemir nods before walking to the water before saying “I just hope she will be happy when that day comes. I want her to tell us of her own will. Not after being pushed into a corner.”

It took a few days of searching before they were able to find the underwater entrance. Funnily enough it was Vesemir who found it. The lab’s protections were simple and kinda boring. Even when they were in an arena looking area the fight was really eazy. The hardest battle was a gargoyle, but that was because they opted to bombard it with spells instead of breaking their swords on its rock-like skin. The worst part was the portal puzzle, I will put it simply, using portals SUCKS.

Upon reaching the main laboratory they began to pour over the late researcher’s notes. Especially anything that had to do with the huge machine in the middle of the lab. They quickly realized the potential the machine held and decided to take everything they could before they left so they could recreate it back at Kaer morhen. Everyone there underwent the process in the machine before packing up all they could and leaving. When they reached the surface everyone said their goodbyes.

Vesemir tried to say goodbye from a distance but almost got thrown off his feet when Vyr hugged him.

John and Trey both hugged her and vowed to see each other again when she returned before leaving with vesemir to give Geralt and Vyr some privacy.

Soon it was only geralt and Vyr left.

(Geralt)”Know you always have a home here. We will be waiting … my daughter”

Vyr nodded and said “I know dad. I love you too.”

Vyr then selected the now unlocked world travel feature and disappeared in a Ice blue light.

Geralt looked at the spot Vyr was just a few seconds prior before sighing and heading to meet up with the rest of the witchers. Going down the shore Geralt heard voices shouting. He drew his steel sword before creeping up on the scene of Vesemir, Josh, and Trey all being surrounded by soldiers.. A knight from Beauclair was demanding Vesemir to tell him the location of the Female witcher in his party.
