Wake Up As Mafia Boss - Chapter 59
The priestess and her two ladies-in-waiting walked down the stairs. Her blooming energy shifted to an emotionless look, like a Goddess looking down at her subjects, upon seeing the person she dislike.
Her two attendants flinched at her sudden change.
‘Why is she in a bad mood now?’ asked Ylla as she glimpsed at her master’s attitude.
Chief Zamor knelt down on one knee, placed a hand on his chest in respect, and greeted her, and his men followed the same thing. He raised his arm and offered the communication device to her.
Ylla took it and moved back to her position, behind her master.
“I’m sure you’re no blind and deaf. After all, you’ve seen it in your eyes, haven’t you?” asked Venus as she approached the petrified chief. “Y, y, yes, your excellency. All of it has been witnessed by my eyes. I am deeply sorry for what I did to the poor man,” Chief Zamor genuflected after he said it.
Unbeknownst to Hermes, Venus planned to create a scene in order to blurt out the gentle side of the young Don. With the new communication device called [Wart], she achieved her devious plan to share her experience with him.
In other words, everything she displayed earlier was just an act, or so they thought.
“Poor man? You’re calling him poor despite his affluent assets are helping your people to be at par with your neighbors. Next time, choose your words wisely. Calling him an innocent man is better than the previous comment. Do you hear his undying respect with you, chief?” questioned Venus as she placed her hands together behind her waist whilst her eyes locked at him. “Y, yes, your excellency. Loud and clear,” Chief Zamor answered in a stumble tone.
“Then, you’re regretting to mess with the innocent?” queried Venus as her hand touched his left face. “Y, y, yes, your excellency,” Chief Zamor answered with cold sweat.
‘I don’t know why he’s innocent? He’s obviously the mad Don of this domain!’ Chief Zamor commented inside his mind.
“As of tonight, I hereby declare Hermes Archnemesis, the lord of this village, the Don of the Archnemesis of the West Scily, and the hero of the Neue Fiona Church, clear from all crime that the court filed against him. The host declared he’s innocent, and now, he’s free from it,” Venus announced in triumph sight. “W, what? You’ve got to be kiddin’ me, ” Chief Zamor was astounded after he heard it.
A bright light darkened their sight for a second, and a small petal of Sampaguita, symbolizing the Goddess Gaia, appeared.
“The Goddess has accepted it. Then, the case is closed as of tonight,” declared Venus, smiling. “N, n, no way, even the Goddess acknowledged his innocence? U, unbelievable,” Chief Zamor’s lips trembled after he witnessed the miraculous event.
The seal melted away after she tapped her finger on the white petal.
“Ara, correct me if I’m wrong. Should I refer to him as Aljen the merchant? Oh, silly me. Forget it. It’s already done. Let me stick this one into your heads. You people must listen to my words attentively. Anyone who dares to touch this man will become an enemy not only the church but also me. So, I pray everyone will eventually remember it forever,” Venus offered her hand to be kissed, but the person, she was talking with, didn’t touch it. “I am sorry, but I cannot. He has to pay for what he did. You have already seen the files. He’s the true Hermes. The goddamn bastard who kidnapped my eldest daughter, the stupid son of a bitch who is not even pure Italian, an arrogant ruler with a selfish personality, and the one who brings chaos in my territory. The pictures, the crimes, and his background are real, and not a single of them is fake. Your reckless action will bring nothing but shame to my people,” Chief Zamor declared with a determined look.
Venus closed her eyes and she clutched her hands together between her chest.
Chief Zamor’s face turned blue after he saw her looks, a terrifying devil in the form of a beautiful maiden approached him.
Her smiling face appeared like an angel outside, but the meaning behind it said otherwise.
Her amethyst eyes gazed upon his inner soul, like a poisonous snake slithering around his body.
The guards lowered their heads out of fear, avoiding getting her attention.
The two attendants shivered in fear, and they couldn’t help but be sorry to the gentlemen.
“Ara, I think you have to see it through to yourself, huh. Let me tell you a brief story as a good moral example. There was a woman on a white robe once—I don’t recall her name—who frequented the billiard church parlors of Romue. My friend saved the beautiful robe girl from falling on the ground, but instead of thanking him, she pushed him away with a disgusted look. My friend left her alone out of respect. However, after an hour, her lover then approached my beloved friend who was only teaching me how to play a billiard game. The man told us to hand over our money to compensate because his girlfriend got molested. The only way to make everything looks fine is to pay him or else he would call the cops for making a noise. Ridiculous, right?” Venus looked at her fingernails as she started to tell a story. “What is more, the woman slapped my attendant after she joined in the party. What an energetic woman, isn’t she? You know, I respect people like that. Strong and healthy, I love it. They are suited for each other, aren’t they? I envy their love life. You see, I am a bright and silly girl, so I am a bit amateur to deal with the subject matter. But well you know what, I love racists and sweet-talking people,” Venus simpered, and her hand touched his right shoulder. “W, w, well, you’re absolutely not what you think you are, your excellency,” Chief Zamor hung his head down deeply.
Her eyes turned sharper than before as she looked at him, suppressing her inner emotion to perform professionally.
“The gentleman made a comfortable living wagering whether he could swallow certain objects, billiard balls being his specialty. He’d pick a ball then take it down his gullet to here, and regurgitate it back up. And one evening, I decided to do something a bit out of my character. I went back in the bar, and I challenge this man to a wager: twenty thousand luzers in cash for him to do the trick with the billiard ball of my choosing. Then, I bet also that if he failed, his lover would follow him until the end, and if I lost, I would become his new toy. The couples were overjoyed vigorously. The woman in the church robe unsurprisingly agreed. She literally grabbed it without hesitation, signing the devious contract to make it official. Now, he knew I’d seen him do this a dozen times, so I can only surmise that he thought I was stupid. We laid down the cash, and I handed him the cue ball. He swallowed it down, it lodged in his throat, and he choked to death on the spot. What I knew and he didn’t was the cue ball was one-eighteenth of an inch larger than the other balls—just too large to swallow. Then, the woman died as part of the deal that we bet on earlier. Do you know what the moral of this tale is, Chief Zamor?” Venus’s voice crossed his ears in a piece of sinister music. “The moral of the story is that if I cause a stranger to choke to death for my own amusement, what do you think I’ll do to you if you don’t follow my simple request?”
The guards crouched back behind him, four steps away.
“Y, y, your excellency, forgive me for I have sinned. I take it back to what I said earlier. I didn’t mean to disrespect him and also you. I don’t mean to betray the verdict. Never say a curse of his name. I, I, I am… I am, uh, eh, I am on… I am only following what the law stated by our… community,” Chief Zamor begged for mercy as he dropped his head on the ground.
“Say his name,” demanded Venus with an expressionless tone. “S, Say again?” Chief Zamor shuddered.
“Say his full name. Say it,” Venus insisted. “B, b, b, but I don’t think it’s necessary,” Chief Zamor reluctantly refused.
‘Fuckin’ Hermes Archnemesis, you caught a big fish. You lucky fuckin’ bastard. This girl is a monster in the flesh when she’s mad,’ Chief Zamor hung his head and scratched his forehead on the floor for a second.
“You’re in no position to refuse. Or do you want to see yourself sleeping with fishes?” Venus quipped as her foot stepped on his head. “F, f, forgive me, your excellency. Please don’t do something that could ruin your reputation,” Chief Zamor begged, crying.
He continued to scratch his forehead, and the screeching sound covered the room.
“I don’t care about my status, and I don’t freakin’ care about what the other people say about me. All I care about is to prove my point. That justice should be served right here, right now. Now, say his name,” Venus dared. “H, H, Hermes Archnemesis,” Chief Zamor closed his eyes, bit his lips, and finally gave in out of fear.
The priestess lifted his head by her shoe with a dark face.
“Hermes Archnemesis, your excellency!” Chief Zamor shouted his name, crying. “You’re goddamn right,” Venus praised sarcastically.
‘This is humiliating defeat! This is too awful!’ Chief Zamor cried inside his head.
All of his henchmen closed their eyes to share their sympathy to their leader.
‘L, L, Lady Venus is scary. She’s a terrifying lady. I don’t know who she is!’ Daliah trembled as she glimpsed her dark personality.
‘I, I, I’m glad I am her attendant. Or else, I will pee on my skirt when those eyes gazed upon my inner soul, too. T, terrifying. I will make sure to balance my relationship with a dangerous superior,’ Ylla bit her lower lips to prevent her terrified body collapse.
“Chief Zamor, Hermes Archnemesis risked his life to save your children. Not to mention, Lord Hermes often defended you whenever I ridiculed your name. Instead of hating you, he even scolded me, telling me to do nothing. I envy your relationship with him, you see. Try to stick into your brain this. You gained his favor, so you have to pay for it. Or else, I will make a report to the mafia council about this matter,” Venus walked around on his position as she explained it. “I, I know. And, I am totally sorry for it,” Chief Zamor bit his lips and blood came out from his mouth.
“Oh, really? Our leader is sorry for what he did to the innocent, huh. How cute. You’re trying to execute a boss, the ruler of this domain, for what? Justice? Or self-righteousness?” asked Venus as she stepped behind him. “N, N, No, please. I’m sorry. I was stupid. I won’t ever do this again. Never, so please forgive me,” Chief Zamor begged once again without looking behind.
The priestess clicked her tongue and continued to encircle him.
“Your existence is not only a nuisance but also your empty brain needs to be washed properly. What if he died? Don’t you know the next set of your play? Never have crossed in your head that there is always a consequence for your action,” Venus stomped her feet on his hand. “It’s hurt. It’s hurt. I’m sorry, please don’t send your knights to kill my people,” Chief Zamor covered his bleeding hand when she released it.
‘M-M-My liege, that’s too much. I cannot bear to watch this,’ Ylla cried upon seeing her like this.
“What an idiot. I won’t send them in. You know the rules, so do I. Now, let’s continue. What happened if you succeed? Will it bring balance and happiness? No, it will bring death in this domain, honestly. Surprise? Wow, I’m shocked to learn that you’re too dumb, sir. You should better know it better than I do. Now, why did I say that? Why do you think they will end like that?” insisted Venus as she tapped a foot on his ribs. “I, I don’t know. Please enlighten me, your excellency,” Chief Zamor pleaded.
“What a disappointing answer. Well, then. Let’s make it short. If the other bosses learn about his death, they will declare a territorial war against you. Because you’re not legitimately a made man yet, they will use it as an excuse or more like an open declaration to cede this place. In other words, you’re not only will start an instability but also the destruction of this village. Killing the head will only bring nothing but instability, too. Try to study history next time, or else your name will engrave as the sole responsibility of the Neue Fiona’s end,” Venus reminded. “I’m so sorry. I’m truly sorry for what I did. I, I, I am terribly sorry for what I said back then. I will make sure to pay for it, I swear to God, please have mercy!” Chief Zamor slammed his head on the floor, creating a small crack on the tiles.
His forehead was starting to bleed.
Venus extended her hand to be kissed, and the pitiful man adamantly accepted it.
His lips touched her hand with a cold sweat.
Her lips upturned after he finally surrendered. She’s satisfied with his hopeless situation.
“I will return on the Emorial Inn. Ara, I almost forgot. After this, apologize to Sir Aljen, or should I say Hermes Archnemesis. Tell him you will cancel the trial, and you will release him before midnight, okay. Don’t forget to visit your children tomorrow. That’s my other request,” Venus demanded. “Request, huh. Not an order. Y, your kindness is really… outstanding, your excellency,” Chief Zamor lifted his head up and trembled as he said it.
“He’s waiting in your office. Make sure to entertain your guest,” Venus deadpanned. “Waiting for me? I am a bit confused too. But I don’t re― Oh, I’m terribly sorry,” Chief Zamor apologized again.
‘Aren’t you the one who sent the paper? When you become senile, you won’t know it, huh. Poor old man, you need a break,’ Venus commented inside her head.
“Reputation takes a lifetime to build, but only seconds to destroy. Remember that,” Venus touched his face, and her fingers slowly slid down from his cheek to his chin with a dreadful meaning. Then, she passed him and left the building. “T, thank you very much, your excellency,” Chief Zamor overjoyed after the door shut in front of his eyes.
“Chief, are you alright?” a henchman asked. “Get off of me. Boys, never tell about this, okay. Not a single word will leak outside. That’s an order,” Chief Zamor walked away and climbed up the stairs, leaving his men with a confused face.
Outside of the building, her attendants bowed down and followed their master in the gate.
Ylla noticed her master’s legs were about to collapse, so she rushed to assist her.
“Gotcha. Are you alright, your excellency?” asked Ylla, worryingly. “I, I’m okay. I just need some rest. Take me back to the inn. I want to see the children,” Venus touched a hand on her forehead.
“Your excellency, you pushed yourself too much. Don’t do that again,” Ylla begged. “I’m terribly sorry. But I have to exceed my limit to reach my goal, you see. I know you girls are afraid of what I did. I showed you a terrible scene out of my character,” Venus scratched her cheeks and giggled.
‘My liege, I’m not scared at all. I’m just…. Never mind,’ Ylla bit her lower lips.
“Your excellency, I’m sorry for being scared like a puppy earlier,” Daliah rushed at her side and apologized. “It’s fine. You don’t have to lower your head,” Venus waved both of her hands to stop her.
‘I’m glad you’re still the same master,’ Ylla simpered inside her head.
“My liege, what happened to you?” Mambo rushed to her side and looked at her. “She’s tired. Where the hell is our pick-up?” responded Ylla as she lightly pushed him away to give some space for their master. “It’s on the parking lot,” Mambo answered politely.
“Let me pick up her skirt. It will dirty her beautiful gown,” Daliah volunteered. “Thank you, Lady Daliah,” Venus simpered as she accepted it.
On the upper floor, someone received a small letter in her hand. It had a seal of a butcher ax, symbolizing its affiliation.
The Verdugo clan underboss sent a brief mission to their spy. Her name was Ilona, one of the enforcers of the organization.
She still wore her receptionist uniform, but inside of her dress, there were tons of knives, two smoke bombs, and a small bottle of poison.
Her role was to gather information and created a ruckus within the village. With her ability and beautiful face, she mastered her full potential to infiltrate the place to control the flow of information promptly.
She received the content and accepted it without a question.
‘The boss is thinking the same thing, huh. I pray to God that the stupid Hermes will take the bait,’ Ilona commented ferociously.
Her honey trap plan wasn’t that hard since the chief was a simp. He was corrupt and easy to distract with her beauty. Single father was easy prey, to begin with.
However as the chief was aging, his mentality was also greatly affected her standing in society.
She professed everything to corner her target, but her useless toy was unable to secure victory for her place. The simp was easily shut down by a mere young maiden.
The mortal enemy of every woman was a woman, after all.
As was closing in, she had to fulfill her duty to clear the path. It was to eliminate the young Don named Hermes Archnemesis.
She left no other choice, but to end this by herself.
‘After everything I did, I sacrifice my body to ensure the power that I needed for my mission. I swallow my pride over my duty. Eating the tiny little thing and letting his fluid come into my womb is the small price to pay for. But never mind, he’s cute so I don’t care at all. That stupid priestess creates another loophole to delay our plans. I have to end this once and for all,’ declared Ilona inside her head.
A black shadow hand tapped her shoulder. Out of surprise, she jumped in a distance, and later she took the courage to face the person who touched her.
“Who is it?” asked Ilona, preparing to intercept. “Fu~fu~, worry not, Ms. Ilona. It is I, the informant,” the black human-sized figure appeared behind her.
The creature was still using the voice of an old man.
Its body was composed of black miasma, and the black aura was dancing according to its heartbeat.
“What are you doing here, informant?” Ilona lowered her guard down as she asked the black creature for information. “I am here to assist you in your objective. Two heads are better than one, you see,” the informant answered promptly.
“D, did the underboss send you?” queried Ilona as she sat down on the chair of the chief. “No, but you don’t have to be wary. Both of us have some interests that linked us together. I have a business with your target too, you know. I am here to end it too,” the informant responded with an expressionless tone.
‘What does he mean?’ Ilona questioned inside her mind.
“Hmm, they are coming, but they are not the gift that I wanted to receive. Ms. Ilona, I recommend hiding behind that closet. We have some uninvited guests to our party,” the informant pointed his thumb at the door. “Huh? I don’t get it, but if they ain’t friendly, then I have to comply,” Ilona walked closer at the closet, opened it wide, and entered it.
“By the way, it appears they are not ordinary people. Hmm, my sister is coming closer as well. But those animals are smell delicious. However, to make things look fun, I have to hide too. I don’t want to ruin the set of events. Now then, give me space,” the informant joined her inside the closet. “I don’t understand your principle, but whatever. Let me remind you, mister. Don’t touch anything in my body or else,” Ilona warned before she shut the door of the closet.
‘I ain’t a mister anyway, and I’m a straight lady. Unlike your filthy body and my new master, my heart was already captivated by my former master. So in short, your entire body is already below the depth of the abyss, girl,’ the informant commented inside her head.
‘Who’s coming?’ asked Ilona inside her head.
The door was opened silently, and four armed men entered sneakily.
The informant cast a spell around her body, and the strangers failed to trace her position.
‘W-What the hell is going on?’ Ilona was bewildered.
“The room is secured, sir,” one of the henchmen reported. “Good, that’s convenient,” the elder turned visible when he appeared.
The four men scattered around the place, and they positioned themselves steadily.
“Come forth, devil. Let’s end this right here, right now,” Elder Kilo’s lips upturned as he waited at his target. “Come, I cannot wait to send you to hell.”
‘Elder Kilo?’ Ilona was dubious.
After the priestess left him alone, the young Don lifted his head and grabbed the door.
“Is our defense ready, slime?” asked Hermes, gravely. “Yes, master. The host of the party is inside. Be alert for the upcoming presentation,” the slime answered.
“Set it in auto mode,” Hermes reminded. “Affirmative,” the slime followed.
As he opened the door, a small box dropped on the floor. The newspaper fell down on the office table, and the headlines started to scribble a word.
<<Virus Detection: Six challengers entered the Boss Room.>>
<<Virus Objective: Rip them all until it’s done.>>
