War Online - Chapter 409: Race to the Dragon Throne part-4
Nearly five hours passed since the test started. Wil continued to hunt down the monsters, leveling up Lucius along with a panda named Happy.
Happy used to be a panda cub when he dismissed Felix and summoned this cute creature. Now, it’s as big as Wil, crossing level-150. Meanwhile, Lucius’ faction grew to 96 members in total, absorbing all the five factions that are landed in the upper section of the hourglass-shaped forest.
Unfortunately, all this while, he neither met any top faction lead by a legitimate prince nor a legendary grade dragon. With so many members sharing the exp, leveling progress of Happy is incredibly slow.
Another good thing is that except for the old man who was too stubborn to resist and end up dead, all the other four accepted Wil’s offer after he killed their best fighter.
The more his faction increased, the more he managed to pressure the opponents. With a huge faction behind him, Wil charged into the next inner zone. Since Wil knew the path, he didn’t look for it anyway. The Tyrannosaurus-EX just rushed towards a certain direction Wil pointed towards, destroying every tree and monster that is encountered.
Meanwhile, his ninety-six faction members safely followed him without having to do anything. Over time, their confidence in Wil only increased further.
Soon, under Rexy’s lead, everyone was out of the forest zone and passed through a transparent barrier only to find their surroundings change into that of a large open grassland where several wolves were seen roaming around with large bulky humans with fur over their bodies, pointy ears.
While everyone was a little bit taken aback upon seeing these level-300 creatures of elite and Heroic grades, Wil, on the other hand, let out a satisfactory grin. In his eyes, whether they are wolves or werewolves, all of them were nothing more than EXP.
He turns around and passed an order to everyone in his party, “everyone stays together for safety. I’ll go clean up the field.”
*Ding! Favorability with Mallard increased by 10 points
*Ding!
*Ding!
*Ding!
Continuous notifications kept ringing in his ears as the members of his faction were grateful towards their leader. Usually, a leader will stand back and ask his subordinates to do the job for him and they but here, their leader asks them to stay back and is going to the job by himself. Who wouldn’t like it except for battle-crazed ones…
Even the candidates who were forced to submit now felt a little bit touched. Soon, their respect and fear towards Wil only rose higher after watching how the giant Dinosaur made the lively grassland into empty grassland within half an hour.
By the time he cleared the field, everyone found themselves level up with a total share of nearly 3 million exp each.
Everyone’s enthusiasm reached a new height as they stepped inside the next triangular zone. As they go deep, the zones only get smaller and the monsters got stronger.
This zone is just a single large mountain with forests. At first, Wil wanted Rexy to go on a rampage like before. However, the enemies stationed in this terrain turned out to be elves that only ambush from out of nowhere with arrows.
“First Werewolves, now Elves?” Wil never expected that the divine dragon will create a realm where elves are also present. Since this test is for the prince to become a King, Wil wondered whether the Divine Dragon wanted the next ruler of the Dragon Island to get familiar with other races in case of a possible invasion.
Does that mean there will be Angels and Demons in the next zone? Wil could only imagine.
After finding out that these elves are also wild monsters and give exp to everyone, for a while, Wil let Rexy go on a rampage, destroying the surroundings and the enemies in it.
But, it only became harder as they are not only very swift to dodge the attacks but this forest is also quite thick, restricting Rexy’s movements more thereby reducing its speed.
It worked with goblins and Orcs but the same rampage didn’t work with the elves. So, Wil opts for a different solution. That is to just ignore them and go to the next zone to save time.
Thankfully, Rexy’s appearance was so huge that these tiny little dragons that are in their humanoid form were able to escape the elves’ radar.
Instead of going straight, Wil ordered Rexy to go around the foot of the mountain where only level-300 to level-400 Elves of Elite and Heroic grade were stationed. It took another two hours for them to escape the region.
On the way, Wil received a text from Mia about whether he’s joining for dinner to which he could only apologize and continue his gaming as this was very important.
Considering how long Wil is playing the game, Mia really wondered what her brother is up to. The last time she asked, he mentioned it was a non-combat profession called Seer, which is a job to predict future things like events, missions, etc…
So, she only assumed that he was operating a shop somewhere, predicting futures for customers like those tarot card shops in real life.
But, is it that important? Or is he just trying to avoid? If so, who? Their mother? Or her father?
Maybe, he was just lying to her? If so, then, why there’s a need to. Does he want to game alone? Or is there some kind of secret? Maybe, he’s like Batman and Superman, living two different lives except that the other life is pretty much a top-secret like being the mystery Time Traveler.
The more Mia thought, the more she felt like her brother might be the Time Traveler.
One, no one knows Time Traveler.
Two, Time Traveler is the guild leader of Scarlet and later, Vulture.
Three, Time Traveler is a friend of Akiko who sat with her during the auction where in real life the latter is the fiancée of her brother.
Four, Time Traveler squandered gold coins like water during the world auction.
Five, Time Traveler give her a birthday present.
And most important, Six, his brother was incredibly strong in Archery, and coincidentally, Time Traveler carries a bow.
Of course, as Wil mentioned, it is highly possible that Time Traveler wanted to stay secret while being a proxy leader in place of her brother.
Mia didn’t have answers to her doubts yet but believed she would find them soon once she contacts her brother with the ign he mentioned to her.
So, she told him that she would like to meet him in the game, later. Wil didn’t know Mia’s thoughts and assumed she just wanted to play along with him in the game.
Wil did accept it out of reluctance as he knew it was bound to happen sooner or later. He doesn’t have a plan to fool her but thought that he should come up with one so that things stay the same as before.
The reason he wants to keep this secret as much as possible is because of his unknown worst relations in the real world. Only he knew how much the world will change in five years and how much War Online will impact the economy.
