War Online - Chapter 415: A proposal to Reuben Draconus
Wil started to pick up the drops spread all over the island. He was very much satisfied with the gains.
A total of eight level-400 legendary grade equipment dropped by royal princes and Dragonlords and Generals, two level-500 legendary+ grade equipment from the Elder Dragons, and two pieces of Bahamut’s set dropped by the guardian boss. Along with these, more than two thousand augment stones, two legendary grade pet scrolls, 3 player city scrolls, 7 player town scrolls, three elementary skill books, twenty-one intermediate skill books, nine advanced skill books, three peak grade skill books, 3577 gold coins, and one evolution stone.
The rest of them that comprised of epic and lower grade equipment, hundreds of low-grade to advanced grade Health and mana potions, and such were completely ignored by Wil. As the pieces of equipment and other drops can’t be seen by NPCs, his actions of frequently grabbing empty things confused the dragons around but no one dared to question his motives even if it appears crazy.
Of course, this issue would have been solved if the Dragon Island is open to all players where the system writes a command where a player’s certain actions could be ignored by NPCs here just the rest of the NPCs.
After picking up the gains that he felt those worth, Wil then used Resurrection to bring back the fifteen faction members that ended up dead. When he did that, his status level in the eyes of his faction members rose to the same level as the Divine Dragon. Almost everyone except for a couple or two had their favorability cross 90 points.
They don’t know why Wil has yet to pick the staff and is waiting. But, they couldn’t question him. So, they too waited while celebrating in murmurs. It was only after a couple of minutes, they finally realized the reason when Wil walked towards the statue on the ground before the latter glowed for a second, and Reuben got freed from petrifaction.
Despite being petrified, this crown prince was able to see what’s going on outside. So, he knew what happened later, although not in complete details. The only thing he knew is that his brothers, the remaining two elder dragons, the Dragonlords, every elite on his side died.
While he was looking at the corpses around him in a daze, his eyes fell on the unconscious Kyla who still have life force left. Not caring about the situation around, he dashed towards his sister. On the way, he also saw a portal nearby and a thought appeared in his head.
Just as he grabbed her, Wil opened his mouth, “Reuben Draconus, do you know why you are spared?”
Reuben turned his head to look at Wil. His eyes were red. If he wasn’t angry, then, it would be a lie but he knew the circumstances very well. He glanced at the portal from the corner of his eyes. The only thought in his head is how to escape.
But then, Wil’s next words changed his plans entirely. Meanwhile, the others also became curious why he did that.
Seeing that he got the attention of Reuben, Wil continued, “It’s because of your beloved daughter, Iphi Draconus. She’s in my custody.”
Reuben’s eyes widened in shock and he stood up on his feet, exploding in anger, “you are the one that abducted my Iphi?”
*Ding! Favorability with Reuben Draconus drops by 30 and reaches negative.
Turning into a ten-meter giant platinum dragon, he lunged at Wil, intending to kill him.
Wil stood there calmly and spoke while stretching his arm towards the incoming beast, “Heavenly Push, 0 mana.”
A gust of wind escaped from his palm and pushed it a hundred meters away without causing damage to him. Along with the platinum dragon, as Kyla was also in the range, she too was affected and got pushed away.
In fact, Reuben was the reason, Wil didn’t use Heavenly Push despite the cool-down period already ended long ago. He needed someone to be on Lucius’ side in his absence. A strong royal prince was the perfect person for that.
And Wil wasn’t sure whether this crown prince will agree to his conditions because of blackmail. So, he left Kyla alive after seeing that she made it despite being in an unconscious state.
Now, pushing him away without harming, Wil proceeded to put forth his proposal, “calm down, Reuben. I didn’t abduct her. No one abducted her. It is due to your ancestors who gave some kind of tome to a human king to summon the king in a time of distress. She was summoned by the tome and was later, rescued by me.”
Upon hearing Wil’s words, Reuben who dashed once again stopped in the midway and turned back to his humanoid form as realization dawned upon him, “you are from the outside world, a human?”
Everyone gasped in surprise and took a step back. Usually, the Dragons are wary and even hostile with outsiders. But then, their favorability with Wil is so high that it wouldn’t matter anymore. Not to mention, Wil showed them his gold dragon form. That itself is proof that he is one of them.
He didn’t care much about them and replied, “No, I’m not a human. You can say I’m a part dragon considering I have a dragon bloodline in me. Anyway, here’s the deal. I want you to swear your allegiance to Lucius and take an oath in the name of Divine Dragon that you will stay forever loyal to him. You will give your life for him and take the lives of his enemies that go against him. In return, I will return your daughter and leave this matter here.”
“And if I don’t?” Reuben looked directly into his eyes. Naturally, with negative favorability, it will be a miracle if he agrees readily to any deal that Wil proposes to him.
Crossing his arms to the back, Wil replied coldly, “Then, I will make sure to wipe out the current royal family from the roots, not just you and your sister. Your two living younger brothers, mother, uncle, aunt, great uncle, daughter, niece, anyone that can have a possibility to take revenge for their kin.”
His statement caused a tremor even among his faction members, considering four of them are related to the royal family.
Even if others were humans, Wil would give them a steady warning in situations like these. And these are a bunch of dragons made up of data. In his eyes, they are nothing more than EXP and a source of items. He won’t be merciful here. Who he needs to impress anyway that he needed to act like a good person.
The most merciful thing he can do is to leave others out of it and only force Reuben to stay as a slave to the throne. From Iphi, he knew that every person whether they are human or dragon, worship the Divine Dragon and it occupies the highest place in the minds of these people.
He also learned that people would often use the Divine Dragon to take an oath, one that they can never forget, or else, they, their whole family along with descendants will be cursed.
With the Divine Dragon just sitting outside, Wil thought it would be necessary to make him take the oath in its name.
“Choose your path, Reuben Draconus.” Wil spoke to him for the last time, “Are you going to choose the path of destruction for your pride and revenge or the path of slavery for the sake of your kin? You have but ten seconds.”
Reuben’s heartbeat rose like crazy as Wil started to count the number in reverse. Lucius who was standing on Rexy felt bad for the crown prince. Even though he doesn’t know anything about the complex issues of the Imperial palace, he still felt having a crown prince as his side will be good, at least in the matters of the court.
Just as the countdown reached 2, Reuben went down on his knees and bowed towards the dinosaur. “In the name of Divine Dragon, I, Reuben Draconus swear my allegiance to his majesty and will forever stay loyal to him. If I ever break my word, may the Divine Dragon destroy me and my family…”
Reuben still finds it hard to believe that his daughter is with Wil. But, what he does know is that there are no Elder Dragons left in the kingdom and every kin of his is at Wil’s mercy unless the Divine Dragon punishes him. But, will she do that when Wil is a Gold Dragon, the only one from the extinct race? Will she go against him when the next King himself is on Wil’s side?
Reuben doesn’t think so. That is why he felt it is better to stay loyal if he wants to protect his family members. Since he can no longer claim the throne, as the eldest child of Owen, the least he could do is to protect his siblings and mother in his father’s absence.
“Okay, that’s good.” Wil nodded with a smile in response. He then told Reuben that Iphi will be freed when they return to the Imperial city and complete the crown ceremony of Lucius.
What could Reuben do other than let out a sigh and wait…
Seeing how calmly Reuben stood on the side, Wil remembered the incidents in the past few days on the Dragon Island and thought the Dragon race is indeed different from other monsters and NPCs. They are most like players. Despite being in a hostile state, the ex-crown prince isn’t attacking him like crazy.
“I guess the developers indeed put a lot of work in these guys.” Wil finally proceeded to walk towards the staff and pick it up.
*Ding!
