We are destined.Let me pamper you - Chapter 470
Hospitals had always been scary; people come there with hopes but how many gets fulfilled? No matter how rich, powerful, intelligent or genius you are, in front of God, you’re just a small creature living at its mercy.
It’s a hard truth; the airport sees more sincere kisses than wedding halls. And hospital walls have heard more true prayers than any church, temple or mosque.
At the break of the dawn, the sun rose in the sky, spreading its rays to take away the darkness. A new day a new beginning, but for a few people, it’s still the darkness….
The military hospital of Country Z is in utter chaos. There was melancholy in the atmosphere, heavy pressure in the air as every person in the emergency ward was silent, standing at the edge with their gaze glued to one of the rooms in the ER.
Inside Wang Shi and Zian were treating Xiu Mei who was struggling for her life. Right outside the room, the mighty CEO Feng Jianyu was sitting on the floor, hugging his knees.
Every time the door opens he peeks inside hoping to see his wife open her eyes. At the moment, other than Xiu Mei nothing else exists in this world for him.
“Ru….” Mo Zhichan hugged Zeng Ruo who was a crying mess. His eyes were red and his voice came heavy with the emotions build up in years. Only they could understand what they both are going through. Losing their daughter once was not enough that God is testing them again.
Where is the happy family reunion?
“Brother….” Feng Junjie’s eyes were stinging looking at Feng Jianyu’s condition. He was afraid both for his sister-in-law and brother. They were like two bodies tied to a single soul. If anything happened to Xiu Mei don’t know what will become of Feng Jianyu.
Feng Jianyu spoke after a while. “Get the grandma here.”
Saying Feng Jianyu returned to silence.
Feng Jin and Feng Junjie shared a glance. Matriarch Feng is a renowned traditional medicine physician. Her skills are unparalleled, whatever Feng Jianyu knows about medicine and acupressure are all because of her.
“Jin, stay with brother. I’ll make a call.” Feng Junjie walked outside.
Lu Xion can’t see all this and stepped out of the hallway. The dreadful night he lost Meiying keeps on playing in his mind in a loop like a stuck recording. Everything seems familiar…..
Just like Jianyu he too was waiting outside anxiously, letting the doctors treat Meiying but in the end….
“Uncle….”
Lu Xion comes out of thoughts when a cheerful voice rang near him. It was Yang Zian’s little son who came to get water from the dispenser and saw Lu Xion standing in the corridor.
Yang Zian was also on the VIP floor of the hospital.
Lu Xion ruffled his hair, he gave a dry smile.
A child’s mind is sensitive. He instantly caught something was wrong with Lu Xion and tugged his sleeves, gesturing with his tiny hand to lower down.
“What happen?” Lu Xion crouched down.
The little boy lifted up the corners of Lu Xion’s lips. “Your smile was not genuine, so I’m giving you one of mine.” He smiled brightly. “My devil-angel would be upset if she saw this sad face. You and that tall handsome uncle should always smile for my devil-angel’s happiness.”
At that moment, the little boy cocked his head. He saw Feng Jianyu sitting on the floor. “Uncle….” Before Xion could stop him, he ran towards Jianyu taking small but fast steps.
Panting slightly he placed his hand on Feng Jianyu’s shoulder. “Uncle, where is devil-angel? Can I meet her once more? Please….”
Feng Jianyu was as lifeless as a rock.
The door to the emergency room was opened and Xiu Mei was wheeled out. Feng Jianyu instantly got up.
Two other doctors were standing on either side of the gurney, giving chest compressions. She looked paler than before.
“DEVIL-ANGEL….DON’T HURT MY DEVIL-ANGEL.” The little boy was not prepared for the shock. Feng Jin instantly pushed the little boy’s face away from the scene. It’s not good for him to witness something like this.
The little boy kicked Feng Jin, shouted at the top of his lungs, cried, hit his hands on Jin’s shoulder….. “Don’t hurt my devil-angel. Don’t hurt her…. I’ll be a good boy. I won’t demand any toy from momma…. Stop hurting my devil angel.” He assumed those doctors were hurting Xiu Mei.
Bai Xin moved to take the boy from Feng Jin and stepped outside.
Feng Jianyu moved side by side, he held Xiu Mei’s hand as gentle as ever. “Where are you taking her?”
Wang Shi: “To the theatre. We bring her temperature up to 86 but heart is still. No movement, no fibrillation. I’m going to do the cardiopulmonary bypass.” He informed. “Dr. Zian you are not coming with me. Stay here.”
Zian tried to retort. “But Dr. Wang…..”
“YOU’RE NOT IN NO SHAPE TO THINK. KEEP YOUR FUCKING ASS AWAY FROM MY OT.” Wang Shi too lost his mind when he saw Zian’s emotions taking over him in the ER.
She was wheeled away from Feng Jianyu.
“Mei, you can’t give up. You’ve promised me a happy life with six kids. Don’t you dare go back on your promise. I’ll forever haunt you in your dreams…” Feng Jianyu fast-walked behind the gurney. He pushed everyone around him and ran to the balcony, not ready to let her go out of his sight for a single second.
Zian and Feng Jin ran after him.
******
IN THE OT
Wang Shi made a cut on her chest. He instantly attached the tubes to her heart. “Start bypass.”
*Machine beeped*
Wang Shi: “Stop compressions.”
*Machine displayed flatline*
Feng Jianyu got panicked, “Don’t stop compressions. Don’t….” He thought Wang Shi was giving up on her.
“Jianyu, relax. I’m raising her temp to 98. Then I’ll try for a rhythm. It’s a procedure.” Zian came from behind and held Feng Jianyu as he explained shortly.
Feng Jianyu panted heavily. “What now?”
“We’re going to wait for a rhythm…..” Zian made a pause and closed his eyes. “…. And pray sincerely.”
Feng Jianyu: “Then ask everyone to pray…. If it works ask everyone.” He pointed a finger at Feng Jin. “You also, pray. Now.”
Feng Jin clasped his hands in front and closed his eyes.
Outside, Bai Xin placed the little boy down while she kneeled in front of him. Running a gentle hand on his hair she coaxed him. “Your devil-angel is ill. Those doctors were treating her.”
The little boy sobbed. “Really? Will she be okay?”
“She will!” Bai Xin clutched the cross sign pendant in her neck.
The boy thought of something and ran away from there.
“Where are you going?”
“I prayed for my father and God answered my prayers. I’ve to do this again for devil-angel.”
Once more the silence engulfed.
Everyone prayed in their own ways. Even the dogs Gemie and Roxie who were following Kong Zhi sat down in the corner with their heads resting against the floor.
