Wedding Agreement With CEO - Chapter 187
After almost two weeks of taking a complete break, Lucas finally recovered and was able to carry out his duties as CEO of the company again.
Unlike before, this time he actually looked less enthusiastic. Perhaps the main factor was because of Ellena.
Yes, how could he concentrate properly, if his mind still focused on his wife, who until this moment had not been found. In fact, it is not uncommon for Adley to take over his job, even though he has now returned to work for the past week.
Lucas’ room door suddenly opened, revealing Adley’s figure from behind the door. Lucas looked away for a moment without saying anything. It was no longer a taboo for him, seeing Adley who often barged into the room without permission. Especially when he sent his best friend to meet him.
Yes, one minute ago, Luca had deliberately summoned Adley to confront him. I don’t know what he wanted to talk to the man about.
Adley landed on the chair in front of Lucas’ desk. He stared blankly at his friend’s wrinkled face.
Meanwhile, Lucas was still motionless as he sat back with one hand holding his forehead, as if he was having a heavy headache.
“What are you doing? Is there something you’re thinking about?” Adley asked, leaning back against the back of the chair.
“Or maybe you have a headache?” Adley looked worried.
Since Lucas’ surgery, Adley has become more and more worried about his best friend’s condition. Feeling afraid that one day Lucas’ head would run into trouble again.
“No. I’m fine.” Lucas replied as if he lacked enthusiasm.
“Then why is your face like that?” Adley asked still in disbelief.
“Any news about my wife? When can I find her?” Lucas said that suddenly made Adley stunned for a moment.
Adley didn’t know how to answer Lucas’ question. Even until this moment he had not found Ellena’s whereabouts. Even the trusted people he sent to look for Ellena still haven’t given the latest news, a sign that they haven’t found Ellena yet.
“Lucas, be patient. Maybe it won’t be long, we will find Ellena soon.” Adley said trying to calm Lucas.
“Until when I have to be patient?” Lucas raised his voice, as if he had no patience left.
After a while Lucas could go crazy if he was constantly faced with situations like that. There was no Ellena beside him when he was about to open and close his eyes, making him feel that his life was just a lonely one, as if the life partner he had had gone forever.
Frustration. Lucas doesn’t know how to deal with feelings of pain, sadness, and longing that always come together. It wasn’t easy for him to go through it all. He felt that his stock of patience had run out, because he had waited too long for Ellena to return.
“I’ve been waiting for too long. Either I can endure or not in a painful situation like this. I don’t even know how Ellena and her mother are now. Will they still be able to eat and have a place to live? Or is it … ah, I don’t can imagine something bad happening to them,” Lucas said pouring out his heart that had been haunting him for a long time.
“I know, but we’ve tried too.” Adley replied looking confused. I really can’t bear to see my friend like that.
For the umpteenth time Lucas had to lose the person he loved so much. This seems to indicate that in matters of love fate is always not on his side.
“Didn’t you find anything suspicious at all that had something to do with my wife?” Lucas asked to confirm again, hoping that Adley had found some evidence that could answer his question all along.
“So far I haven’t found anything out of the ordinary. I’m still trying to keep an eye on Michelle, Selena and Mrs. Veronica, but even if they have anything to do with Ellena, I think they’ll be careful with us too. They know who you are. Of course they don’t either. will act rashly. Maybe that’s also what makes it difficult for us to find accurate evidence,” said Adley explaining his suspicions so far.
“Yeah, you’re right. I think Michelle and Selena are pretty smart at this.” Lucas nodded, a sign that he was heeding Ellena’s words.
“There’s actually something else I’m thinking of right now.” Adley chimed in which managed to make Lucas glance at him.
“What?” Lucas looked at Adley probingly.
“Don’t you suspect someone in this office?” Adley’s question managed to make Lucas look nervous. This is evident from the movements that look awkward.
“I think there’s someone in this office working with them.” Adley said again.
“Yeah, I thought about it. That’s why I kept this search a secret. I don’t want that person to know what we’re doing for Ellena, so they can easily take the information and be careful with our plans.” Lucas explained. full of fear.
“So who are you suspecting?” asked Adley probingly, squinting slightly.
Before Lucas could respond, suddenly the cell phone in Adley’s pocket rang. He quickly grabbed the phone and shifted the green icon, a sign that he was about to answer the phone listed on his cellphone screen.
“Hello, what’s the latest news that you called me?” asked Adley to the point, not wanting to mince words.
“What?” Adley straightened up, shifted into a sitting position. It seemed that he was very surprised by the answer of someone on the other side stating that there was news for him.
Seeing this, Lucas looked surprised and immediately leaned forward, observing Adley who looked serious talking to someone on the other side, I don’t know who it was.
Lucas hoped that the one who called Adley was their confidant who was assigned to look for Ellena in several areas. Hope the caller brings good news about Ellena.
“Say!” asked Adley looking impatient to hear the latest news in question.
“What?” Adley jumped and managed to make Lucas widen in an instant.
“Okay. Send the proof immediately!” Adley insisted a moment before ending the call.
Adley immediately turned off the phone, then looked seriously at Lucas, after placing the phone on the table.
“What is it?” Lucas asked excitedly. “Did something happen?”
“Looks like Raymond got evidence about Selena and Mrs. Veronica.” Adley replied which managed to make Lucas roll his eyes.
“What?” Lucas jumped in surprise. Of course that came as a surprise to him.
“I don’t know yet, but Raymond will send the tape evidence,” Adley replied still looking relaxed. “We’ll wait, hopefully he will send it as soon as possible.”
Lucas just nodded, confirming Adley’s words.
Meanwhile, Ellena was seen in another place who was busy recaping several incoming email reports from employees for her boss.
The pair of brown beads occasionally looked at the computer screen in front of them, then at the book containing the filing of incoming reports.
Of course, that didn’t go unnoticed by Richard’s crew. The man had been watching Ellena from behind the glass window that was dividing their room.
Watching Ellena work had become a routine for him. How Richard really liked the activity. Every now and then a smile appeared on his face. Ah, he was so lucky to be able to look at Ellena like that every time.
Still not satisfied with watching Ellena from a distance, Richard decided to approach the secretary. He slowly turned the doorknob and entered Ellena’s room.
It suddenly made Ellena realized and stopped her activities for a moment. However, she did not turn her head in the direction of the source of the sound, merely raising her gaze for a moment and returning to focus on her work. It was certain that it was Richard. Who else would dare to enter through that door if not the boss?
“Are you serious?” Richard said as he landed on the chair in front of Ellena’s desk.
“Should I play around in this job?” asked Ellena after a moment of silence. Still, she wasn’t interested in turning to look at Richard even once.
“Come on, Patricia …you can get stressed out if you always take things seriously. Take it easy. After all, your boss didn’t ask you to finish the job right away, did he?” Richard protested trying to annoy Ellena.
“Yes, you’re right. My boss is very kind and never forces me to finish work quickly, but it seems I have to be self-aware because my boss has given me too much time.” Ellena replied, pausing for a moment.
“How can I continue to slack off, while my work is piling up day by day. Would you mind if I neglected it, Sir?” Ellena added, before Richard responded.
Richard just smiled at the question. “Do whatever you want, Patricia. Even if you don’t do the work, I won’t be a problem.” He said which managed to make Ellena take a deep breath.
“I didn’t expect you to turn out to be so unprofessional, Sir.” Ellena quipped, not having the slightest effect on Richard.
The man again smiled in response to Ellena. “Think of it as preferential treatment from me for a very special person. It’s very rare for me to favor anyone, except for you, Patricia.”
“You’re crazy, Richard. Stop bothering me like that!”
“Oh yes, one thing you should know, never once forbid me to do anything in this office, including privileging you,” replied Richard still looking relaxed.
Ellena snorted harshly. It seemed pointless fighting the most powerful person in the company. Hanga will be in vain. She then put down the ballpoint pen in her hand, completely stopping the activity of recapitulating the report.
“Do whatever feels right to you, dear Mr. Richard,” said Ellena, giving in and wanting to end the debate immediately.
“Okay, five more minutes I’ll be waiting for you in the car!” Richard said firmly as he got up and left the place, as if not giving Ellena a chance to refuse.
Ellena sighed again. “Why is he so annoying, oh God?”
