- Chapter 694: Intermission- Hunting Riklan And Co.
Mary’s lips thinned into a line as she watched her Young Mistress punish the pieces of trash that were in front of her.
The pieces of trash that dared to betray her Young Mistress and claimed the treasure mimic’s spoils for themselves.
She had intended to deal with them herself the moment they pushed her in but she had been more focused on the Young Mistress’s safety back then and teleported herself directly to her.
There had been no need for her to intervene yet since the Young Mistress managed to fight her way back to the floor that she was pushed from and even did a great job of punishing them as well.
Mary was a little surprised that the Young Mistress could show such a level of ruthlessness but as the daughter of the Madam, it was something that she decided was natural in the end.
While the Young Mistress was gloating at the pieces of trash and preparing to toss them into the hole, Mary noticed that the trash named Riklan had sneakily crawled over to the chest and used the Young Mistress’s bag to turn it into a plate again.
He then quickly took it back out to hide it inside his clothes before laying back down on the ground. check out m-v-l-e-m-p-y-r
Mary could not help but feel a little impressed at how greedy some people could be even in a situation like this.
Their chances of survival were already at an all time low but this Mahun still thought that he could steal the chest and escape with his life.
She then hid her presence and slipped three tracking artefacts on each of the pieces of trash, ensuring that she would be able to find them afterwards.
The Young Mistress then proceeded to toss each of them into the hole while Riklan chose to toss himself into the hole instead as his last act of defiance.
The Trasif maid watched the Young Mistress look confused at Riklan’s actions until she realised that her treasure chest was missing.
She then quickly grabbed her Pack of Folding before jumping into the hole with Mary following closely behind.
She quickly realised that the hole did not lead to the same location as before which meant that those pieces of trash must have ended up in a different location as well.
Mary felt relieved that she had placed those tracking artefacts on the three pieces of trash before they were thrown in the hole. Otherwise she might also have a hard time finding them.
But as much as she would like to head towards where they were to dish out punishment on them for tricking her Young Mistress yet again, she had to prioritise the Young Mistress’s safety first.
Thus, she stuck to the Young Mistress as she picked a path to follow, ending up in front of what seemed to be the Dungeon’s final boss.
Naturally, she watched over the Young Mistress defeat the final boss and there were several moments that she felt she needed to jump in to help her but she pulled through on her own at the end, clearing the Dungeon all on her own.
With the Dungeon cleared, Mary expected the Young Mistress to return to the surface so she decided to leave the guarding of the Young Mistress to the other guards who were following her and for her to search for the Dungeoneers who had betrayed the Young Mistress instead.
The first one she targeted was the rogue known as Kaelin.
There was not a particular reason for her to start from him specifically but she already decided to leave Riklan for last.
While the Young Mistress was busy with the looting of the Dungeon boss, Mary left the boss room before using another artefact to sense where her target was.
Once she received the location of Kaelin, she made use of the stairs to climb up to the corresponding floor where the artefact pointed to.
She then ran through the floor, guided by the artefact that was still attached to the rogue.
It only took her about five minutes of searching before she found her quarry, the rogue advancing through the Dungeon corridor cautiously with a torch in his hand.
The rogue had kept a potion on himself to be used in emergencies like this so he was actually quite glad that the maid he had encountered had not simply killed him when she had the chance.
At that moment, he was looking for the way out of the Dungeon to link up with the rest of his party while feeling confident about himself. He had seen his party leader steal the chest from under the maid’s nose and he was sure that his leader would definitely be able to escape from the Dungeon as well since everyone in the party had the same potion.
Thus, his thoughts were occupied with how he was planning to spend the Creas that he would be getting from the treasure chest.
All he needed to do was to find the stairs and he would be home free.
Of course, what he did not expect was for a maid wearing a similar uniform as the one he had just escaped from appear in front of him out of the blue.
Mary gave the rogue in front of her a look of disdain, letting the contempt she had for him show on her face, something that she would definitely never have done in front of someone who might live to tell someone else about it.
The rogue quickly realised why the maid had shown up in front of him and threw up his hands, “Wait, wait! I was against Riklan’s plan, ok?! I never wanted to do that to her in the first place!”
Mary used her Somatomancy magic to transform her arm into a blade before scowling at him, “You can save the excuses. I was following behind you all from the start. For endangering and betraying the Young Mistress of the Nilm Family, you will have to pay with your life.”
Kaelin growled and drew his own daggers, “Fine then! I ain’t going down without a fight! I’ll show you what it–”
Mary was not interested in listening to the rogue monologue so she had moved forward faster than the rogue could react and cut off his head.
The Nilm Family’s Head maid transformed her arm blade back into a normal arm right as the decapitated head of the rogue hit the floor.
She did not even bother to turn around to watch the body fall over on the floor and simply set her artefact to look for her next target, the mage with the name of Eita.
She had to go to another floor and immediately found the mage as she was running towards the stairs as well.
She released her invisibility and the mage immediately came to a stop, the woman also recognising her uniform to be similar in design to her Young Mistress’s.
The female Mahun did not try to justify her actions and neither did she attempt to beg for her life.
Instead, she quickly turned tail and ran away from the maid standing in front of her.
Mary shook her head, wondering if their entire party was made up of idiots before leaping towards the fleeing mage.
For this one in particular, Mary decided to simply knock her down onto the ground, the mage falling flat on her face as the Head Maid kicked her from behind.
Before the mage could even try to push herself up, Mary had lifted her foot and smashed her heel down on the mage’s head, completely crushing it into pieces with a loud splat.
She took a moment to clean herself of the blood before resuming her hunt.
With two of her targets down, she was now left with the actual leader of the party to finish off.
The artefact led her to another floor and she found the leader within a minute of reaching that floor.
Riklan was feeling quite smug about being able to steal the chest from under the maid’s nose so he was feeling quite proud of himself at that moment.
He had almost wanted to take out the chest and bask in the glory of obtaining it until he remembered he had no reliable method to transport it in its chest form.
Thus, he was prioritising looking for an exit but he then came across another maid blocking his path.
His eyes widened, “You… You’re the Head Maid of the Nilm Family!”
Mary felt amused by his reaction, “It seems like you know who I am. That means you know what should happen next right?”
“Over my dead body!” He roared, drawing his sword to point at Mary defensively.
“That’s the plan.”
Mary moved forward and snapped the blade in half almost casually before striking the man in the abdomen with a fist that she had enlarged and hardened.
The man literally had his stomach blown open, leaving a gaping hole at where his stomach used to be.
Mary then casually took the plate that contained the chest out from within his clothes before walking away and leaving the corpse behind.
She could have chosen to knock them all out and bring back to the mansion for more torture but they were not worth the risk of letting the Young Mistress finding out about them surviving the Dungeon so Mary decided to kill all of them.
As for the chest, the Head Maid decided to hand it over to the Madam, though she suspects that the Madam will keep it somewhere as the Young Mistress’s private funds for the future.
Not that it was Mary’s business in regards to that, of course.
Now she should leave here and report to the Madam about this.
