What?! The Gamemaster And The Top Player Are Dating?! - Chapter 221
Li Ying laughed even more as she successfully fooled the man into thinking that her brother was a crazy psychopath in love.
Jiangshi sighed as he shook his head and commented in a voice that was only audible to the two of them, “You really like playing around with other people, don’t you?”
“Eh? What are you talking about?” Li Ying tilted her head as she added, “I was being serious though. Well, if Zhihao and Richlord were really in a relationship then my brother would probably go through with the plan to kill her.”
Jiangshi also seemed to be stunned as he faltered a step, “You…! You mean that?”
Li Ying broke out laughing as she smacked his back, “I was joking~ Hahaha… Why do you all fall for it so easily? It’s not like my brother is obsessed with brother Zhihao or anything.”
Jiangshi sighed in relief as he heard the former half and seemed to be questioning the latter half of the sentence.
“I don’t know. Maybe it’s because your brother spent his entire life creating a game for a man that didn’t even remember him properly,” Jiangshi shrugged his shoulder and spoke up, ” Not to even mention the fact that the man he did it all for, had only met him like a few times at an arcade when they were children.”
Li Ying gulped as she seriously started considering the topic. The more Jiangshi pointed the facts out, the more she felt that her brother indeed had an obsession problem.
Who in the world would go through so much just for a boy they once had a crush on as a child?!
Li Ying was sure that she would never do something like this!!
She really wanted to applaud her brother for having such a high level of patience that she could never even dream of having.
It was now Jiangshi’s turn to laugh as he saw the colors dropping from Li Ying’s face as his words started to slowly haunt her.
“Don’t worry too much about it,” Jiangshi reassured in between his chuckles as he added, “He could either be an insane psychopath or be considered as a devoted man who only falls in love with one person in his life. In their case, I would say that it’s the latter since I can clearly see the positive connection between them.”
Li Ying frowned as she squinted questioningly at the boy and waited for him to further explain.
“Do you think my brother is a person that would simply fall in love with just anybody?” Jiangshi questioned but didn’t wait for an answer as he continued speaking, “It’s pretty hard to find him be this interested in another person. To be this trusting and forgiving, all of those things are something I have never seen him do before this. Even I was shocked to know that he chose Li Ling Gege as his gaming partner when he hardly even knew the man.”
Jiangshi suddenly sighed as he added, “I think he knew it before I did. Maybe it’s something close to the theory of soulmates…? Although he had just met the man, he could clearly feel that they had a connection and he was curious to explore that feeling of familiarity so he decided to take a bet?”
Li Ying’s face cringed up as she responded, “I hate the word soulmates.”
She was not shy about stating her own thoughts on the topic.
Jiangshi looked to be a bit surprised as he tilted his head and asked, “Why would you say that?”
“Because the word soulmate is used to link two people together against their own wants,” Li Ying stated openly, “It’s like a handcuff that binds you to a single person without asking for your own permission and desires. Fate also has somewhat the same meaning. It’s something that has been decided for you and can’t be changed by you. Such forceful words… Who would want to use them for something pure like love?”
Jiangshi’s eyes widened ever so slightly and he suddenly looked to be a bit impressed by Li Ying’s words, “I would have never imagined you to be such a romantic person.”
Li Ying pursed her lips together in a thin line and glared back at the boy as a response.
“But I guess you’re right. Rather than saying that it’s fate, maybe it’s better to call it destiny.”
Li Ying enthusiastically nodded her head as she replied, “That’s right. Our fate can’t be changed and is forced upon us but destiny is something much more flexible. It’s something we can influence according to our own decisions.”
“Then let’s just conclude at that. It was their destiny.”
For some reason, Li Ying suddenly chuckled as she thought about something.
Jiangshi frowned as he questioned, “What is it? Why are you laughing?”
Li Ying looked at the boy through her eyes that had curled up into two crescents with a bright smile on her face as she responded, “You are a nice guy for supporting your brother so openly like this.”
“Well, he’s my brother and as long as he’s happy, I would naturally be satisfied with it.”
“Hmm… The more I get to know you, the more I realize that you’re really not as bad as I thought you were.”
“…” Jiangshi squinted as he looked back at the girl and questioned, “How bad did you think I was.”
“When I first met you, I was sure that you were the type to bully others just because you wanted to look cool and strong when you clearly had no friends or anything good about you that you could offer others.”
Jiangshi coughed as he heard her answer, “You! You actually thought something like that?!”
Li Ying chuckled as she nodded her head, “It’s not my fault that you were acting in such a manner. At one point in time, I remember thinking about ways on how to teach you a lesson.”
Jiangshi moved a step away from the girl as he asked, “What are you? A hero looking to punish all the bullies in this world or something?”
Li Ying proudly nodded her head as she confirmed, “That’s right! I’m a hero working for the people in this world that have been bullied by people like you.”
“Yah! You just said that you have realized what type of person I really am so why are you still calling me a bully?!”
Li Ying patted his shoulder playfully, “Brother Zhen, I was just joking around! Why do you keep taking everything so seriously?”
“Maybe because your jokes aren’t funny,” Jiangshi deadpanned.
“…”
“LHA,” Liang Feng suddenly spoke up out loud as they reached the middle of the huge football ground.
“Huh?” He managed to catch the attention of the rest of the players who suddenly looked at him curiously.
“The company,” Liang Feng added as he informed everyone else about his observation, “Back at the office building as well. The ones who placed the yellow tickets there were also from the same company as the guards that were standing in front of the stadium.”
Zhihao frowned as he heard this, “LHA? Are you sure about that?”
Liang Feng nodded his head as he confirmed, “There must be a connection between the game and the company. Do you know anything?”
“I don’t know about the connection but LHA… I’ve heard about that company before,” Zhihao answered honestly.
“How do you know them?” Liang Feng questioned back.
Liang Feng also knew a lot of companies but it was his first time hearing about such a company.
“It was a gaming company that went bankrupt a few years ago,” Zhihao answered as he thought back to the time when he used to play games released by this company called LHA.
“Bankrupt?” It was Li Ying who stepped forward as she repeated in confusion.
“It was not popular, to begin with, and within three years of its foundation, it went bankrupt before disappearing completely,” Zhihao explained in a bit more detailed manner, “If I’m remembering right, their concept was escape rooms and mind games. Talking from personal experience, they were actually good at it but it wasn’t really a style that was famous at the time. Since they didn’t have too many players interested in playing it, it was only natural that profit took a dive for them which eventually led to the shut down of the company.”
“What about their games? Did they all go down as well?” Liang Feng asked curiously.
Zhihao shrugged his shoulder as he replied, “I don’t know about that. The official notice said that they would be shutting down their servers for a few months but when I tried to find the game again, it showed an error stating that the game had automatically been deleted from my computer.”
“Automatically deleted? Is that even possible?” Li Ying questioned.
This was certainly something unheard of. Even if a gaming company were to go bankrupt and their game was to be shut down forever, it was still not possible for the game to completely disappear from a device that had the game already installed in it.
If the company had shut down the game forever, then the game would show an error stating as such and informing the users that the game was no longer available.
