“I see… You guys are good at laying traps,” Zhihao gulped as he felt a cold sweat trail down his forehead.
Li Ying chuckled awkwardly as she scratched the back of her neck and nodded, “Just a skill I picked up from some movies.”
Zhihao blinked as he stayed in the same position, with his leg lifted.
Li Ling coughed as he questioned, “Is there anything more?”
Li Ying’s cheeks turned slightly red from embarrassment as she nodded her head, “Just pay attention not to trip on that wire or that,” She pointed up at the ceiling, “It’s going to smash you into a pulp.”
Zhihao’s eyes widened ever so slightly as he looked at the metal table that hung on top, “How did you even get that up there?”
Li Ying shrugged her shoulder as she responded, “It wasn’t too hard.”
Li Ling suddenly chuckled as he commented, “I see that it was useless worrying about you.”
Li Ying looked to be amused as she tilted her head and asked, “You worried about me, big bro?”
Li Ling pursed his lips and refused to give her an answer while Zhihao chuckled as he exposed the man, “He worried about you a lot.”
Zhihao stretched his leg out front and took a careful step forward, making sure that he didn’t step on anything that had previously tried to almost murder him. He also made sure to avoid touching the wire that was being used as a trigger for the table that hung above their heads.
“Whoa!~” Wang GuiYing looked to be amazed as he opened his mouth and forgot to shut it, “How did you guys manage all this?”
Li Ying shrugged her shoulder and refused to give him a clear answer.
“This is quite impressive,” Zhihao commented as he looked at Jiangshi.
Jiangshi’s body suddenly went still as he cautiously tried to hide behind Li Ying.
Li Ying who had noticed Zhihao looking at the boy immediately decided to help Jiangshi out by smiling and hiding him behind her, “Brother Zhihao, you’re flattering us too much.”
Zhihao turned his attention back to Li Ying, “Believe me, you deserve my praise.”
Although it kinda sounded as if he was mocking the two, in reality, Zhihao was being honest. He really felt that these two kids were much more impressive than him.
In fact, he had always wanted to meet the real Yingli because he felt that the player was certainly a bit too impressive. Not only had she been absolutely new in the gaming industry but she had also managed to climb all the way to the top of the gaming board in a matter of days, falling second to only Zhihao.
“How did you guys come here?” Zhihao shifted the topic as he questioned.
“Eh? That…” Li Ying gulped as she side-glanced back at Jiangshi and only after getting a nod from the boy did she continue, “It’s because Jiangshi figured it out.”
“Hmm?” Zhihao suddenly looked to be interested in knowing more and Li Ying also looked to be more than happy to explain.
“Well… It’s like this. In the first competition, the floor plan we were given didn’t have the secret floor that brother Liang Feng went into and it just so happened that the floor was actually a security room with monitors and it was the key to solving the mission. Because brother Liang Feng helped us, we were all able to complete the mission on time.”
Zhihao nodded as he thought back to the clue given in the first mission. It was certainly tricky and he had almost had a heart attack because he was the last person to find the yellow ticket. If it hadn’t been for Liang Feng then Zhihao would have surely been eliminated.
Zhihao hadn’t really thought about it that much. He just thought that it was a lucky coincidence to be able to find something like a monitoring room hidden under the building.
“This showed us that the map given to us by the game is not to be completely trusted,” Li Ying continued seriously, “If you look at your phone right now, you’ll see that the map has only one main control room marked whereas, in reality, it actually has two.”
Zhihao frowned as he looked down at the map and nodded.
There really was only one control room marked out on the map.
“But how did you know that?” Zhihao questioned curiously.
“I didn’t,” Li Ying shook her head as she explained, “It was Jiangshi who found this small hint. There was another map posted near the entrance and Jiangshi had noticed it.”
Zhihao would be lying if he said that he wasn’t surprised to hear this. He had also come through the same entrance and he surely remembered seeing the map but he never thought that the game would use the same trick on them once again so he simply ignored the map.
“In the map, Jiangshi had made sure to remember two things since it was impossible to remember the whole map. The first was the location of the control rooms and the second was the overall layout of the place.”
“You’re smart,” Zhihao looked at Jiangshi and openly compliment the boy.
Jiangshi gulped as he nodded his head, thanking Zhihao but still not daring to open his mouth.
“And I suppose you had something to do with how the hunters didn’t blow up?” It was Li Ling who questioned.”
Li Ying nodded her head happily as she replied, “It was us. When such a room was here, Jiangshi took me and we both came here to see that the computers here were all working. The monitors you see showed us exactly where you are and it also gave us the whereabouts of the hunters. At first, we didn’t notice anything weird about the game but then we overheard your conversation with the first hunter.”
Zhihao frowned as he pointed at himself and questioned, “Me?”
Li Ying nodded her head as she explained, “The hunter was clearly after you because she hated you but she was also desperate and her desperation was not related to her hate for you. It was because she feared something and from her words, it was clear that she feared for her own life. If you survive, she’ll die. This was the root problem that we decided to look into.”
Li Ying sighed as she continued, “The hunters refused to take off their mask but it was not only because they were reluctant to show their original faces but it was also because they simply couldn’t.”
Li Ying suddenly moved towards another side of the room and opened the desk to show a bunch of wires and a machine that didn’t look familiar to Zhihao, “This is connected to their panda masks.”
Li Ling carefully walked closer to Li Ying and took a good look at the machine, “So you turned the machine off?”
Li Ying frowned as she shook her head, “Have you gone dumb, brother? How could we simply turn it off like that?”
“…”
“We investigated it first,” Li Ying spoke up as she informed, “We found out that if they were to take off the mask before the explosive is disabled, they would be triggering the bomb and blowing up their own heads by simply trying to go against the system.”
Zhihao gulped as he remembered the time when he had tried to take off the mask from the hunter’s head. Thankfully, he hasn’t been successful at that time…
“So we worked on disabling it,” Li Ying added proudly, “And although we only managed to disable it at the last possible moment, we were still successful.”
“So then you both disabled it all on your own?” Wang GuiYing asked, looking to be amazed and impressed.
Li Ying nodded proudly as she responded, “To be more exact, I was the one that disabled it. I might not look like it but I’m one of the members of the speci-”
Li Ling immediately covered her mouth with his hand and forced her to shut up.
“She’s trying to say that she was a member of the special coding team in her school.” Li Ling immediately spoke up, cold sweat forming on his forehead as he realized that his sister almost gave them all out.
Zhihao frowned as he heard this, “There’s such a thing?”
“Modern schools have a lot of productive things like that,” Li Ling chuckled as he responded.
Li Ying bit her brother’s hand and made him let go.
“Ouch!” Li Ling winced at the pain and retreated his hand back.
Li Ying sent her brother a glare before turning to face the others as she lied, “He’s right. My school is amazing and it has a lot of activity clubs like that.”
Zhihao almost wanted to go to such a school but unfortunately, when he was still in school, there was no such thing as an activity club which was for computer coding.
“Whoa~” Wang GuiYing hooked his arm around Zhihao’s shoulder as he commented, “Mastermo, she’s so much younger but she’s still more intelligent than you.”
“…”
