What?! The Gamemaster And The Top Player Are Dating?! - Chapter 239
Li Ying chuckled as she cracked her finger joints and started typing away on her keyboard, not bothering to wait around for everyone else.
Zhihao gulped as he also got started on typing but only after informing the other players, “Your mission is to solve all the questions on time. The more questions you answer, the more different questions you get.”
“Eh?” Tian Xifeng muttered in confusion as she glanced at her computer screen before asking, “How many questions are there?”
Zhihao gulped as he honestly answered with the only guess that he had at this moment, “Not a defined number of questions.”
“What does that mean?” It was Wang GuiYing who asked as he started answering the questions one by one.
“It means there is no fixed number of questions. If the system likes your answer then you won’t be getting extra questions but if the system doesn’t like your answer then you get more questions added.”
“How do you know?” Liang Feng asked as he glanced at Zhihao.
“It’s nothing more than a guess,” Zhihao answered honestly, “There was once a game alike this one that I played but the game had right and wrong answers while all the questions asked by the system do not actually have a definite answer. The questions can be answered according to the player’s own thoughts and beliefs hence proving that there are no right or wrong answers. This is a competition so not having right or wrong answers makes no sense whatsoever.”
“What if there are right and wrong answers?” Li Ying questioned with a smile.
“I’m sure about it,” Zhihao confidently responded, “The system would have informed us if there were questions that had a right or wrong answer. Instead of doing anything like that, the system simply told us that we all had a different mission. It also told us that this is based on our intelligence.”
“A-Zhi is right. There are no right or wrong answers. At the start, the system also warned us not to solve missions for other players. This means that the missions are actually solvable by other players. What could it be? The answer to that question is right in front of you. It’s questions. If a player gets a question as a mission then the player can take help from other players which would be a common occurrence in a competition where the time is limited. In order to prevent that, the system warned us about the consequences beforehand. Of course, the warning also served as a hint for us to figure all of this out.” Li Ling added as he agreed to Zhihao.
Zhihao nodded his head as he confirmed that he shared the same thoughts as Li Ling “Now it all depends on how fast your fingers can coordinate with your brain.”
“I have a question! I have a question!” Kaoru exclaimed all of a sudden as she raised her hand.
“What is it?” Zhihao responded as he kept his eyes on the screen and answered the questions at a speed that would normally be considered almost equal to superhuman levels.
“You said that the system would give you more questions if it’s not happy with your answer. Isn’t that also considered as a form of right or wrong answers?”
Zhihao shook his head as he answered, “Not necessarily. When I said the system has to like your answer, I meant that the system has to consider your answer as a legit answer and not categorize it under spam.”
“Huh?”
“If solving all the questions fast is the only mission we are given then a player could always write jibbering since the question has no right or wrong answer, to begin with. An over-smart player would probably try to use such a method but the system would naturally take some preventive measures against it.”
“Then… If I write an answer that doesn’t make sense or isn’t related to the topic at all, the system considers it as spam and gives me more questions?”
Zhihao nodded his head as he confirmed, “You got it. If your answer is considered spam then the system gives you more questions to make up for it.”
“I think I understand,” Wang GuiYing commented as he scratched the back of his neck, “So when the system said that this was a competition of intelligence, it didn’t mean answering the questions with intelligence…?”
“That’s right. The system already gave us the hint that the intelligence part had nothing to do with the questions. Only a player who calmly uses his head would be able to realize how the system is trying to trick you.”
“Wha~” Wang GuiYing muttered in surprise, “Mastermo, you really are the best player.”
“Yah!” Li Ying snapped, “I also figured it out at the same time as brother Zhihao.”
Wang GuiYing grinned as he heard this, “Of course you did but you were still a step behind Mastermo, Miss second place.”
“…” Li Ying’s eyes twitched as she heard that last part.
Wang GuiYing really had a talent for annoying people!
“Got it!” Kaoru exclaimed as she nodded her head and got to work, “I just have to be fast.”
Every player in this room might not have been a pro-gamer, however, they were all well skilled with a keyboard since they had been typing for almost all of their life and since they used to be on their computers so much, they had naturally grown skilled at typing fast.
For Zhihao, his typing speed had never gone under 150 words per minute and his highest word per minute was near 200 wpm1. It was a speed that was considered very fast, however, compared to the other players who were currently typing alongside him, he was somehow lacking in speed.
The reason for this was a mystery to Zhihao since there was no way he could suddenly find out that some of the players who sat beside him were actually professional coders and developers who were posing as players.
In the whole group, the slowest one was Jiangshi who almost had the same speed as Zhihao. Zhihao was the second slowest as he was beaten even by Kaoru who was surprisingly pretty fast with her fingers.
The fastest in the group was probably Li Ling. Listening to him type sounded as if a super engine was at work.
The second fastest was none other than the man’s sister, Li Ying who almost had the same monstrous speed as her brother.
Tian Xifeng and Liang Feng were also surprisingly fast.
Zhihao had never actually seen Wang GuiYing type and from the man’s personality, Zhihao would have never guessed him to be talented in anything, however, he was constantly being surprised today by the man who was showing off his skills one by one.
First, it was his skills at mixed martial arts and now it was at typing.
Zhihao had always thought that he would at least be able to beat Wang GuiYing at typing but turns out, he was hopelessly beaten by the man in terms of such a speed-based skill.
At the end of the day, it came as no shock that Li Ling was the first to complete the mission.
In less than ten minutes, he had answered over a hundred questions and had managed to clear his mission as the screen changed to black and flashed a green box in the middle of the screen with the word ‘Complete’ written on top.
Li Ling sighed in relief as he stretched his fingers and massaged his hand that felt as if it was about to give up on him.
Soon enough, Li Ying also finished with only one minute left on the timer.
“Damn that was intense!” Li Ying cursed as she complained.
She turned to look at the other players who still had their eyes on their screens and their fingers working nonstop. The place wasn’t really hot but they were all sweating profusely because of stress and worry.
The next player to clear the mission was Liang Feng and closely following behind him was Tian Xifeng who had actually managed to answer a few questions as spam and got more questions to clear as a gift from the system.
Wang GuiYing and Zhou Xinyi were also not slow as they completed the mission.
“Yes!” Wang GuiYing exclaimed immediately as he turned towards Zhou Xinyi and hugged the man due to the happiness that couldn’t be controlled by him.
Zhou Xinyi smiled as he patted Wang GuiYing’s back, “We got it.”
Kaoru also solved the mission at around the same time as them making Zhihao and Jiangshi the last ones to solve the mission.
Li Ying bit her lip as she looked down at her phone screen and exclaimed, “Only twenty seconds to go.”
“I think I’m on the last few questions,” Jiangshi responded in a low volume as he increased his typing speed all of a sudden.
“Do it fast,” Li Ying muttered as her eyebrows creased together in worry for the boy.
“A-Zhi, can you do it?” Li Ling questioned with worry as he looked at the man.
“Don’t worry about me,” Although Zhihao was immersed in the questions, he still stopped to answer the man.
Li Ling sighed as he gave a nod and didn’t bother saying anything more.
