What?! The Gamemaster And The Top Player Are Dating?! - Chapter 248
“Where are they?” Zhihao questioned in a mutter as his muscles went tense and he looked around anxiously.
The door to the rooftop was also sealed shut and from the looks of it, Zhihao was sure that nobody had tried to break the door nor had anyone tried to open it.
Liang Feng sighed as he felt a headache coming, “Mastermo, I think that little devil tricked you.”
“Eh?” Zhihao snapped his head as he stared at the man blankly, not understanding what Liang Feng was trying to say.
“I don’t think she was headed for the rooftop,” Liang Feng added in disbelief.
“Huh?” Zhihao muttered in confusion as he looked at the man and waited for him to explain his words.
“She was headed somewhere else,” Liang Feng sighed as he didn’t bother giving a long explanation, “Let’s go try the security room. This place has cameras so we might be able to find them.”
Zhihao frowned as he looked up to see the cameras that still had their lights turned on, meaning that they were still running.
“Then let’s do that,” Zhihao nodded his head as he agreed to follow Liang Feng.
Liang Feng turned back around and headed for the security room that he somehow knew the location of.
“Mastermo, you shouldn’t blame yourself for not figuring it out. The game is tricky and we are fighting against an advance AI here so it’s only natural that we would be tricked by her,” Liang Feng tried to reassure the man with a bit of worry laced along with his words.
“Li Ying is a smart girl and that Jiangshi is also a talented boy so you don’t need to worry about them. Even Tian Xifeng followed them so I’m sure they are all safe,” Liang Feng sighed as he added with confidence, “Maybe they figured something out that we probably missed. It’s a good thing if they can act first and find a way to stop the timer.”
Zhihao gave no response to the man and this made Liang Feng think that Zhihao was still worried about Li Ying.
“Mastermo, you were impressive today. It’s the first time we’ve met each other but I can already tell why you are called the ultimate top player,” Liang Feng chuckled as he stated his honest opinions on the man, “It’s not an easy thing for people to be calm and to think rationally under such conditions. You even managed to adapt to the changes so quickly. It’s truly something to be proud of.”
“…”
“Even if you don’t win the game in the end, you’ll still be the best player that I have ever met in my life,” Liang Feng felt as if this was the biggest compliment he could give to a person so he was a bit embarrassed about it, however, Zhihao still gave the man no response.
Liang Feng frowned as he finally decided to say something that had been bugging him a lot, “Mastermo, you should give up on the final goal. The final mission is really not worth it and I don’t think you would want to complete the mission either when you find out who the gamemaster really is. I’m not just saying this to discourage you.”
Liang Feng couldn’t help but feel a little awkward as he continued to explain himself, “In fact, it’s not just you. I wouldn’t want anyone to complete the final mission. We can find another way out. I believe that we can!”
Liang Feng exclaimed as he turned around to look at Zhihao with a bright reassuring smile on his face, but as soon as he turned around, he blinked a few times and his smile disappeared without even leaving behind a trace.
“Mastermo…?” Liang Feng muttered as he looked around at the empty stairs.
He gulped in confusion as he couldn’t even move from his spot for a few seconds.
He heard footsteps climbing up the stairs and Liang Feng immediately moved forward to look up through the small gap between the stair railing, “Mastermo!”
The Zhihao he was talking to had not even bothered to listen to Liang Feng as he had long before turned around and headed back upstairs.
Zhihao stopped for a second as he shouted, “You head to the security room. I need to check something!”
Liang Feng couldn’t help but blink in shock as he stood there for a few seconds, silently wondering how he had made a fool out of himself by speaking to himself just a minute ago.
When the shock had settled in, Liang Feng took a sharp breath as he headed back down the stairs and continued to head towards the security room that wasn’t too far away.
“I take back my praises,” Liang Feng muttered to himself with a bit of annoyance.
“The star!” Zhihao exclaimed but there was nobody there to hear him, making him look like a madman that was talking to himself, “It has to be the stars!”
Zhihao looked to be confident as he came up with a new guess that drove him. If he was right then they were going to solve this mission pretty soon and if he was not right, they would be missing their chance to complete the mission since time was slowly slipping through their fingertips.
Since he didn’t have that much time left on his hands, he was betting all the time that he had left on this one guess.
He was a bit confident but at the same time, he also couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy as he wondered what the result would be if he was chasing after the wrong clue once again.
Mastermo had only realized it when he was heading down the stairs with Liang Feng. Like a sudden bolt of lightning, it hit him.
All the five competition arenas were connected to each other in a manner that formed a star. Zhihao had already realized this before but he never knew that the clue could come to help him this soon.
Zhihao had visited this shopping complex before so he knew the place pretty well and luckily enough, he was one of the few people who knew about the treasure that was hidden in this mall.
Most people who come here don’t actually visit the top floors. Most people don’t even go explore the place properly. They simply visit the shops they came here for and go back home after they are done with their shopping. This was only natural since this was a shopping mall and not a museum. People came here to shop not to explore the place and this was the main reason why most people didn’t know about the amazing treasure hidden on the top floor of this mall.
On the top floor of this mall, there was a very special place called the star dome and Zhihao had once stumbled upon it by mistake.
It was just a year or two ago when he stupidly got lost inside the mall and ended up on the top floor.
The dome was small and couldn’t be seen clearly from the outside of the building since it was located in the middle of the rooftop, however, it was beautiful nonetheless.
The only reason why Zhihao thought this star dome might be the answer to completing the mission was because the competition arenas connected and made a star. The reasoning was pretty vague and in a normal case scenario, Zhihao wouldn’t have even considered this as a clue worth exploring, but today’s situation was a bit different.
He didn’t have a solid reason to believe that the star dome was a key behind completing the mission, however, the reason why he chose to bet the rest of the time left on this one thing was because of his gut feeling.
Zhihao had always been the lucky kind and his gut feeling had never actually been wrong so since he had such a strong gut feeling at this moment, he would naturally go along with it and believe in himself.
If the other players were to know that Zhihao was simply following his guts then they would surely have a shock of a lifetime.
When Zhihao reached the top floor, he hesitated for a mere second as his hand grabbed the door handle tightly.
He took a sharp breath in as he closed his eyes and got ready to test if he had been stupid or not.
He opened the door and his eyes also snapped open as he looked at the star dome that was waiting to greet him.
“Mastermo…?” It was a familiar female voice that called out to him as soon as he opened the door.
Zhihao blinked in surprise as he looked back at the girl who was just as shocked as him.
“What… The hell are you doing here…?” Zhihao questioned in shock as his eyes trailed towards the interior of this place that had completely changed from the last time he had been here.
It had been years since he came here so it wasn’t a shock that the interior had changed, however, with just a single look, Zhihao was sure that this type of change was still not normal.
