What?! The Gamemaster And The Top Player Are Dating?! - Chapter 260
It was actually the doing of Zhihao but the two blamed it on the unknown gamemaster without even considering the fact that it could have been some other player.
The gamemaster who was accused of cheating in order to make the game fair was currently innocently sitting on a corner as he poked the ground helplessly and thoughtlessly, simply waiting for someone to find him.
Unlike what Zhou Xinyi and Wang GuiYing were speculating, the gamemaster had no idea how to solve any of the traps so he found that the best method to avoid falling into a deadly trap would be by doing nothing.
It was as simple as that.
If he stayed in one safe spot and waited it all out, he wouldn’t be triggering any traps even if he were to run out of the timed head start that he had saved up.
If the other player had also shared the same thoughts as him then they would also not have to go through all this trouble but it just so happened that he was the only one who found the easiest method to keep himself safe.
[Your two minutes and fifty-eight seconds is now over, Devilmagiclover.]
The system sounded just as enthusiastic as ever as it announced, but even after hearing this, Li Ling didn’t look to be bothered in the least..
There was simply nothing for him to worry about since he was going to do nothing. He planned on staying here and by choosing to do so, he was safe from any danger that the maze might bring him.
The only thing he needed to worry about were the other players. If he were to come across another player who would realize that he is the gamemaster, he would be in trouble. If nothing like that happened then he was safe.
It was as simple as that.
However, how could everything be that simple for Li Ling?
“Yo~ Found you,” Jiangshi muttered as he came out of the corner and looked at Li Ling.
Li Ling blinked as he looked up at the boy whose face was completely covered by the mask.
“Gamemaster!~” Jiangshi chuckled as he exposed Li Ling.
Li Ling’s eyes narrowed down on the boy as he questioned, “Huang Zhen?”
Huang Zhen nodded his head without any sense of hesitation as he revealed his identity, “Li Ling Gege, what are you doing here?”
“Can’t you see for yourself?” Li Ling questioned back with a frown.
“Huh?” Huang Zhen walked over towards the man and crouched down as he looked carefully at the ground that Li Ling was poking, “Are you trying to dig your grave?”
“…”
“Isn’t it too soon for you to be doing that?”
“You brat!” Li Ling clicked his tongue, “Are you just here to put salt on my wounds?”
Huang Zhen chuckled as he shook his head and spoke, “Why would I be here to do something as stupid as that?”
“Then why are you here?” Li Ling looked at the boy as he casually questioned.
“To kill you, of course.” Huang Zhen’s voice lacked all emotions and Li Ling couldn’t help but feel that the boy was being honest.
The two were silent as they simply stared at each other in an awkward atmosphere.
“Are you serious about that?” Li Ling finally spoke up as he asked seriously, breaking the awkward silence.
“Do you think I would be joking?” Instead of giving the man a straightforward response, the boy questioned him back.
“I do,” Li Ling responded with a nod.
Huang Zhen chuckled as he stood up, straightening his back, “Li Ling Gege, I admire you and I think you’re great.”
Li Ling smiled as he heard this, “You’re also a fan of the gamemaster?”
“No,” Huang Zhen responded firmly, “You, as the gamemaster, would be a stupid person who created something that you couldn’t control. Why would I admire you for that?”
“…”
Because everyone else seems to…?
“I admire you as my brother’s boyfriend,” Huang Zhen sighed as he spoke honestly, “How can you make that guy like you so much? You two acting all lovey-dovey really made me think that the brother I have raised till now was someone whom I hardly knew.”
“Yah! He’s the one that raised you,” Li Ling snapped in between but the boy ignored him and continued.
“If it was the brother I knew, he would have already seen through your disguise and he would have been the first one to kill you,” Huang Zhen sighed as he added, “Tell me honestly, you did some witchcraft on him, didn’t you?”
“…”
“The brother I knew would never hesitate or come to the wrong conclusions.”
“Ah…” Li Ling muttered as he interjected once again, “Hearing you say that makes me also think.”
“???”
“That you don’t know your brother at all.”
Huang Zhen was stunned speechless for a second as he heard the man saying this.
“How can there be such siblings?” Li Ling frowned as he questioned and didn’t wait for the boy to answer as he continued, “I don’t get along with my sister but there’s nobody else in the world who knows her better than me.”
Li Ling leaned in and rested his chin on his palm as he spoke, “The brother you knew sounds more like Mastermo and not A-Zhi.”
“They are the same person,” Huang Zhen replied.
“They are,” Li Ling nodded his head as he agreed with Huang Zhen, “But they are not.”
“Eh?”
“Mastermo and A-Zhi might be the same person but they are also really different. Mastermo is nothing more than the internet persona of Zhihao. The part of him that he wants to show the world while A-Zhi is the real him. The hidden side of him that not many people know about.”
“…”
“Huang Zhen, you are young and dumb so you might never have realized it. Zhihao had always acted as a role model to you. He was older than you so he thought it was his responsibility to guide you. He thought he had to be the best so that you can look at him and be inspired to do the same.” Li Ling sighed as he explained, “It’s actually not a bad thing when you look at it. He simply wanted to show the best of himself and that’s not wrong at all, however, by doing so, he had forgotten that he had hidden away a big part of himself from you.”
Huang Zhen’s muscles tensed up as he silently heard the man.
“It’s not like the relationship between you two is bad. It’s just that you need to pay attention more and you two really need to open up to each other,” Li Ling added with a sigh, “You two keep too many secrets from each other.”
When Huang Zhen heard this part, he clicked his tongue and retorted, “And you two don’t?”
“…”
“You can’t judge us,” Huang Zhen also sighed as he spoke, “And you shifted the topic!”
“The topic? There was a topic?”
“There was!” Huang Zhen snapped, “I said I admire you for making my brother like you!”
“Oh… That,” Li Ling muttered as he nodded and waited for the boy to continue.
“It’s true! Even if you accept it or not, you’ve managed to change Zhihao Gege and… I think I’m actually glad to see that you did.” Huang Zhen put his hands inside his jacket as he pulled out something, “And I really admire and respect you for that, however, I wasn’t kidding when I said I was here to kill you.”
Li Ling blinked in confusion as he heard the boy but he didn’t even need to ask anything as he immediately understood the situation when he saw the gun that Huang Zhen had taken out.
“I only gave my brother permission to win against me but if he knows that you are the gamemaster, he would never be able to complete the mission,” Huang Zhen looked to be serious as he pointed the gun at Li Ling and spoke, “If he can’t do that, then I will.”
Li Ling gulped as he felt cold sweat form on his forehead.
“Zhihao Gege is going to be really mad at me for this,” Huang Zhen sighed as he added, “But I don’t care.”
Li Ling chuckled awkwardly as he tried to save himself, “You know, why don’t we put the gun down and talk? You have no reason to kill me.”
“The mission is a good reason, don’t you think?”
Li Ling frowned as he heard this.
“Are you really sure about this?”
Huang Zhen nodded his head as he confirmed, “I’m sure. I still have six minutes left with me. If I kill you before then, the mission would be completed and no player would be put in danger anymore.”
Li Ling sighed in defeat as he nodded his head in understanding, “Then go right ahead.”
“…”
“Shoot me,” Li Ling closed his eyes as he waited for the boy to shoot.
