When A Ghoul Falls In Love - Volume 1 Chapter 140
Despite everything, I can’t tell him who Killian is.
“I think that he has done something to me.” I run my fingers through my hair in frustration. “I can’t tell you what happened between him and me.”
“Is he human?” Baek Joon Woo asks.
I open my mouth to say yes, but only silence comes out.
“I guess he is not.” Baek Joon Woo sighs. “Nell, you know that you can tell me anything. We can go to the police.”
“And tell them what?” I look down at my hands. I am wearing his gym clothes. “He is not an ordinary person.”
“It’s strange that he would do something like this right after he came to this school.” He frowns at me. “What if he has been targeting you from the beginning? He tried to get closer to you yesterday.”
Baek Joon Woo is right.
Killian might have approached me intentionally. Yesterday, he had an excellent opportunity to hurt me in the maze; however, he did nothing. Maybe Killian wanted to gain my trust. Why did he suddenly do that? He was fine before we entered the lab.
‘Zach and Zachary…’
I recall the words that he said to me. Does he know my father? Killian told me that he was looking for someone. He also said that he needed someone who could read the changes in the moon.
Was he looking for my father? How did he find out about me? Maybe he wasn’t sure until I told him that my father’s name was Zach.
Why did I say that? I know that I didn’t want to speak to him about it. It’s like my tongue acted on its own. Killian must have done something to me.
“We have to find my father.” I hold my head. “Maybe Killian knows him.”
“Did he say something to you about him?” Baek Joon Woon grabs my hands. “Can’t you tell me the exact words?”
“I can’t.” I shake my head. “I can’t even tell you why I can’t say it. I am afraid that he will hurt you, Joon Woo. That person isn’t normal. We have to do something.”
Baek Joon Woo nods. “We have to find your father.”
The ominous feeling won’t leave my heart. Killian will do something for sure; he is a powerful fae. Who can tell me more about them?
The school bell rings.
I have to go back home.
“Baek Joon Woo, text everyone to go back home together.” I stress my words, “They must not leave their house alone. All of us should stay indoors until you and I learn more about the fae folks.”
At the moment, only my mother can help me. Maybe she will go easy if I tell her what happened today.

We leave the school together. Baek Joon Woo drops me at my home. He doesn’t want me to go, but I tell him that I will handle it.
Baek Joon Woo and others’ lives are in danger. If it’s related to my father for sure, my mother would know. I won’t be able to tell her everything, but I think that she can make up if I give her the clues.
And she already knows about Killian. I want to test if I can tell her everything.
I enter the house and see my mother waiting for me on the couch. My stepfather must be at work. Even if he was here, he could barely do anything now.
“What if I had run away?” I question her. “What would you do then?”
“Your stuff is still in your room.” She gives me a sidelong glance. “You left in your school uniform.”
“You were awake.” I state quietly, “You didn’t try to stop me.”
“I told you that I had means to get rid of the baby even if you don’t go to the hospital with me.” She implies, “It means that I can get rid of it even if you run away from home.”
Is she trying to scare me? I glower at her. “Mom, I didn’t know that you were this kind of person.”
“I am afraid you would never understand me.” She shrugs her shoulders. “I was the same when I was your age.”
My mother is so frustrating that I want to scream at her. However, I know that this isn’t the time to be like that. I need to ask her questions.
I can’t go to the salon lady who is a fae. Even if the salon lady seems nice, it’s hard to trust any fae folk after what happened today.
“Aren’t you wondering why I am wearing gym clothes?” I spit the words out, “or what happened to my face?”
She scrutinises my face. “Did Baek Joon Woo do that to you?”
“No.” I fold my fingers. My mother sounds so casual and uncaring that it hurts — does she genuinely care about me?
Maybe I am overestimating her hard love for me.
Isabelle Solomon, my mother, furrows her brows. “Who did it?”
“A fae,” I answer her. “It’s the same fae who helped me yesterday.”
“What?” She rushes to my side and cups my face. “Did he kiss you? Did you promise him something? I want to know everything that he did.”
“Mom, I…” I don’t want to cry in front of her, but my tears won’t stop. “I think that he knows Zach.”
Colour drains from her face. “How does he know him?”
I realise that Killian’s magic isn’t affecting my mother. What kind of person is my mother? Is it because she doesn’t have the veil over her eyes anymore?
“I don’t know.” My voice cracks. “He said that he wouldn’t hold me in debt for helping me yesterday and also, the fae folks don’t tell a lie. Then, he said that he was looking for someone. When we were alone, he did something to me. I ended up telling him that my father’s name was Zach. Then, he said that Zach and Zachary almost sounded the same.”
I tell her everything that happened except a few parts that include looking for my father and what we did to Killian.
