When A Ghoul Falls In Love - Volume 1 Chapter 149
Baek Joon Woo’s words are coming true.
My father had a reason to leave my mother. He didn’t have any idea about me.
If I was in his position, I would have been shocked too.
What would have happened if my father had said goodbye to my mother before he left her? Would my mother have kept me?
She wouldn’t have.
My mother already told me that she regretted giving birth to me and giving up on a life that she could have.
She kept me because she was young and foolish — foolishly in love with my father; my mother kept me because she thought that my father would come back to her.
I let out a sigh. Everything seems complicated in my mind.
What should I call this man? Father? Dad? Mr Krauss?
It’s awkward.
Though I have told him to ask for forgiveness from my mother, the relationship between my mother and me is already broken. What should I do about the relationship between him and me?
Besides, I don’t know how my father brought me here and why there are two demons with him. Whether he is my father or not, bringing me here like this is wrong.
Baek Joon Woo must be worried about me.
I want to see Baek Joon Woo. He would know.
I look at my biological father. “Do you have a phone?”
He blinks his eyes. “A phone?”
“I need to call home.” I study every change in his expression. If he doesn’t want me to call home, then I should get prepared to run away from this place. “My friends must be worried about me.”
“I don’t have a phone.” He creases his forehead, looking distressed. “I never held a phone.”
“Never held a phone?” I mumble.
“I don’t do well with technology,” He replies, blushing hard.
My biological father is technologically inept.
How old is he again? I lean closer to him. He looks around thirty, completely different from the portrait that my friends and I made on the computer. We do have matching features: same protruding blue-grey eyes, pale blonde hair, light beige skin, high cheekbones, sharp brows, and a sculpted nose. My biological father is handsome. “I can see why my mother would fall for you.”
My father lets out an uneasy cough.
“I am glad that I didn’t inherit your intelligence.” I lean back. My body is still aching as if my veins are running dry. How long did I sleep? “It’s surprising to hear that you don’t do well with technology.”
“I will learn it.” He scratches his head in embarrassment. “How hard can it be?”
I smirk at him, “I can teach you.”
“You will?” He peeks at me.
Seeing a grown man being awkward around me is fun. I let out a low laugh. “You are too different from my imagination.”
He finally smiles. “May I know what your imagination was?”
“I expected a stern old man with silvery hair and dark eyes.” I look away from him. “Actually, we made a picture of you on a computer, but you look way younger than we imagined. Does it mean that I also have genes that will make me look younger as I grow older?”
He doesn’t say anything. Maybe he is still embarrassed.
“This is so melodramatic.” The cat glares at me. “I am so tired of your drama.”
What’s up with this cat? “Can’t you mind your business?”
“I am minding my business.” The cat sneers at me. “You are making my business more difficult. When I thought that I would be free of this torture, you find a new creative way to persecute me.”
“I will tell Baek Joon Woo that cats are banned in the house.” I massage my forehead. “Especially a talking cat.”
“Hmph!” The cat jumps off the bed and walks out of the room.
“I am a sorcerer.” My father speaks nervously, “As one reaches a certain level in magic, their body ages slowly. So, you see… I look young because I am a sorcerer. You can also look young if you become a stronger sorcerer. But there is no reason why you should be a sorcerer. You can be a priest, a witch, or mage, even a spiritualist… you are a quick talker. Being a conjurer won’t be difficult for you. However, the path of a diviner is tough.”
What is my sorcerer father rambling about? He is not making sense anymore.
“Though your awakening is a little late…” He fidgets with his fingers. “If you want, I can be your teacher.”
I raise my brow. He is somewhat cute.
“If you aren’t fine with it,” he adds quickly, “I can find you an excellent teacher.”
“I plan to go to college,” I say to him with a clear voice. It’s best to tell him what my future plans are. “The same college where my boyfriend is going. I am going to marry him after we graduate from high school.”
He pales, surprised.
“I don’t have any interest in magic.” I release my breath. “If it’s possible, I hope that you can stop Killian from hurting my friends.”
Killian is a big problem; but, my father is here now.
There is hope.
“I will stop him,” My father takes my hand and promises me. “He won’t hurt you ever again.”
“Also, my friends,” I tell him sternly. My mother doesn’t care about them. “If my friends are hurt by him, I won’t forgive you. Killian approached me because of you. I don’t know what enmity he has with you, but my friends shouldn’t be dragged in it by him.”
His pupils tremble as he lets go of my hand. For some reasons, he seems weak to me. I don’t know what kind of life he led, but I think that it wasn’t a good one. I also don’t want to be hard on him; however, my friends’ lives are at stakes.
I can’t forgive myself and him if they get hurt because of my father and me.
