When A Ghoul Falls In Love - Volume 1 Chapter 160
Maisie keeps ringing the doorbell until Ms Solomon opens the door.
Ms Solomon glances at them quietly, and then, she turns around and walks away.
It’s been a week since Nell lost her child. Since then, Ms Solomon has remained silent. She won’t even answer Maisie’s questions.
Baek Joon Woo’s parents had fallen out with Nell’s parents. Maisie even brought her father to check on Nell’s body. When Nell finally regained her consciousness, she asked everyone to not make a big issue out of it. She lied to the police and saved her mother.
However, most people in the neighbourhood know the truth now.
They walk past Nell’s father in silence. There is a heavy atmosphere in the house. Nobody speaks a word to disturb it. When they reach Nell’s room, they see Baek Joon Woo sitting beside Nell’s bed. Nell is looking down at her pale hands. The strands of her hair shadow the side of her face. Her hazel eyes are filled with annoyance.
Baek Joon Woo isn’t doing any better. His hands are fisted on his thighs. His forehead is creased, his dark eyes trembling nervously. Nick notices that Baek Joon Woo is wearing the same clothes that he was wearing yesterday. Even his hair is in a state of disarray.
What is going on here? Anyone can see that Nell is annoyed by Baek Joon Woo. But Nell and Baek Joon Woo can’t stay angry at each other for more than fifteen minutes. That is how it’s always been like. But Nick senses that things are complicated today.
Are they breaking up?
Nick shrugs away the possibility that Baek Joon Woo and Nell are breaking up. Their relationship is quite strong.
Nell looks up at them. She takes a deep breath when Maisie steps toward her.
“What happened?” Maisie climbs the bed. She gives an accusatory look at Baek Joon Woo. “Did he fight with you?”
“I…” Baek Joon Woo glances at Nell. “I am sorry.”
“So, you did wrong.” Maisie wraps her arms around Nell. “What did you do?”
“He made a deal with a fae,” Nell says in a dark tone.
“Why did you make a deal with a fae?” Maisie asks him loudly. In the next instant, she creases her brows and turns her head toward Nell. “What the f.u.c.k is a fae?”
“Fairies?” Oliver mumbles. “I have read the word ‘fae’ in a book, I think.”
“I heard my English teacher talk about it.” Nick crosses his arms and c.o.c.ks his head. “Fae folks… they are mythical, I think. They steal babies and make bad deals with humans.”
“Baby stealers?” Maisie makes a face. She gasps. “Is Killian a baby stealer? Did he steal Nell’s baby?”
“It’s more ridiculous than an alien.” Nick squints his eyes. “How could there be a baby stealer?”
“There are people who steal babies.” Oliver scratches his chin. “There is news about it, but Nell hasn’t given birth.”
“Oliver!” Maisie warns him. “Don’t speak like that.”
“Ah.” Oliver bows to Nell. “I am sorry for my harsh remark.”
“It’s the truth.” Nell pulls away from Maisie, “This matter has become too complicated. I will not hide anything now. Fae folks are real. Killian is a fae. My father might not be a normal human.”
The ‘bomb’ has been dropped, but Nick finds it absurd. What is Nell saying? There is a possibility that aliens are real, but fae folks? Those are children’s stories.
“They are real,” Baek Joon Woo confirms. “I have seen them with my own eyes.”
“Why can’t we see them then?” Nick furrows his brows. “If they are real, we should be able to see them.”
Maisie blinks her eyes. She runs her fingers through her hair. It seems like she doesn’t find it easy to believe either.
First of all, take a seat.” Baek Joon Woo gestures toward the empty chairs. “Also, close the door. We can’t let Nell’s mother find out.”
Nick closes the door as Oliver drags two chairs closer to the bed. They sit down in front of Baek Joon Woo with poker faces.
“Fae folks are not exactly like they are in the children stories.” Baek Joon Woo explains, “They are trickier, and there aren’t any good or bad fae. They are too different from humans, and they never do anything for free unless they make it clear that it’s free. They like to trick humans, and no, they aren’t afraid of irons. In fact, there are also metal faeries now.”
Nick’s poker face cracks right away. He scowls at Baek Joon Woo. “Is this the concept of your novel? Don’t tell me that you are basing characters on us in your book? I want to be a protagonist, okay? If you make me a side-character who gets killed in chapter four, I will become your anti-fan.”
Baek Joon Woo purses his lips, tilting his head.
“I am fine being any important character in your book.” Oliver nods his head thoughtfully. “Don’t give me a stupid name. I want to be called something cool.”
“It’s because your name is Oliver.” Maisie laughs. “O, Liver, O! Where is your liver, Oliver?”
Nick bursts into laughter. Even Nell can’t help but smile.
“I am not writing a book,” Baek Joon Woo exhales.
When everyone gives him a look, Baek Joon Woo coughs and says, “Not any book about fae folks. My work is going to be a crime thriller romance.”
“Who is the protagonist?” Nick leans forward with a grave look in his eyes. “Did you make me a victim of a psychopath?”
“If you are going to kill me anyway, give me a good name.” Oliver wrinkles his nose. “John won’t do.”
“If all of you keep talking like this, I will make sure to kill you all in the first chapter,” Baek Joon Woo warns, irritated.
“But how could there be a crime thriller romance?” Maisie questions in a daze. “Is it going to be a thrilling s.e.x story with lots of murders?”
“I know! I know!” Nick raises his hand. “The protagonist will have s.e.x with the victims before they are killed off. He is probably a bad luck bringer to the women he dates. It’s probably like this… The main character dates a woman and the woman gets killed by Jack the ripper.”
“Wait!” Maisie raises her hand. “There is a movie like that. What was the name?”
“Good Luck Chuck?” Oliver frowns. “But it was more about… women would have s.e.x with the protagonist, and then, they will always find their true love.”
“Yes, that one!” Maisie gives him a thumbs up. “But Jack The Ripper is so so… He isn’t even an original psychopath.”
“He only killed p.r.o.s.t.i.t.u.t.es, I think,” Oliver replies.
“He was probably a misogynist.” Nell clicks her tongue. “Why did he only kill the women when there are more men than women?”
“If faes are real, what if ghosts are also real?” Nick trembles in terror. “What if there is a ghost of Jack the ripper?”
“What if he starts killing men now?” Maisie smirks at Nick. “Worse! What if he shoves his d.i.c.k in your mouth whenever you open your mouth?”
Nick’s face turns blue in disgust. He resists the urge to throw up.
Baek Joon Woo holds his head in exhaustion. “Why is it so difficult to have a conversation right now?”
But everyone ignores him and his question.
“But, I don’t think that ghosts are real.” Oliver argues, “Have you heard of Large Hadron Collider? If ghosts are real, they would have interacted with the particles in there. They could have been detected.”
“Why would ghosts hang out in that large whatever?” Maisie grimaces at Oliver. “They will obviously hang out at creepy places.”
“Oh, yes!” Nell widens her eyes. “There is a ghost in the library!”
Nick opens his mouth wide, unable to speak a word. Ghosts are real?
“That library ghost?” Maisie looks at her with disbelief. “I thought that boys came up with it to scare girls and hug them in the library. You know what happens after a hug.”
“That’s true.” Nell shrugs. “But the ghost is real. I saw it. Killian also told me that it was a ghost. He kind of saved me from it…”
“Good boy tactic.” Maisie gnashes her teeth. “If I can get a hold of him, I will choke him.”
Nell takes a deep breath. “He is too dangerous. We have to find out how to kill him.”
Nick leans back, widening his eyes. What kind of talk is this? Ghosts? Fae folks? Now, they are talking about killing someone.
