When I Fell Madly in Love With the Heroine, the World Changed. - Chapter 49
.
—“Odin-sama, I would like to discuss the disputed area in the southern provincial town of Finn…”
“Oh, they haven’t surrendered yet?”
“Yes, what would you like me to do? If you leave it to me…”
Odin leans back in his chair and folds his hands.
This is Odin’s office.
In other words, the room of the Supreme Military Commander, the First Prince, who folds his hands thoughtfully against the light coming from behind him.
“No. The resistance has been too active since my father fell ill. We must educate them again… who is the ruler of this world and what position do you stand in?”
Asked by his secretary, a beautiful woman, Odin ponders.
She is a bewitching beauty who is beautiful, yet her appearance gives the impression of being somewhat mean-spirited.
Her name is Catherine.
“So…”
And the conclusion he comes to is.
***
“[Kill all Non-Asgardians in the area]” is the order.”
“!!!? …Why! You don’t have to do that!”
“No… it’s an order, so I don’t know what the real reason is…”
Kenya talks to that Nez on a dedicated line.
This exchange is not heard by Jin and Reelbert, who are next to him.
Immediately afterwards, Reelbert and Jin, who were next to him, hold up their KOG guns.
Kenya catches it out of the corner of his eye.
He looks at where the muzzle of the gun is aiming.
“Hey… what are you two doing?”
Ahead of him, he can see the Resistance surrendering with their hands raised, and even a child behind them.
Their eyes tremble with fear as they huddle together and look at us.
Two KOGs finger a huge gun.
Then they slowly force it.
“Wh- Stoppp!!!!”
“!!!? Ken?”
“Ken-kun!”
Kenya knocks their guns out of their hands.
“Youu!! What are you two doing!”
“That’s our line, Ken. You got your orders from Odin-sama.”
“That’s right, Ken-kun. What are you doing all of a sudden?”
There was no guilty feeling in their voice. No conflict, not even emotion.
It sounded as if they were doing it because they were asked to and it was just a matter of course.
“Both of you, how could you… you just tried to kill someone! An unarmed person!”
Kenya stands in front of the two men, who have drawn their spare guns.
Behind him are people who appear to be resistance fighters.
“Of course we are, we are soldiers, okay? We have to follow orders. Get out of the way, Ken. You can’t complain even if you’re punished for violating orders now.”
“Ken-san, why are you there. They’re an inferior species, okay? They don’t obey, so they deserve to be killed. It’s not very pleasant, though.”
“No way… are you serious…?”
Jin and Reelbert’s words left Kenya speechless.
The always kind Reelbert-san called Non-Asgardians inferior species and said it was natural for them to kill them.
Jin-san, who is always cool, but still supposed to be a strong man with a single-minded core, says that it is natural to kill them because it is an order.
Clearly, there is a difference in perception.
He did not expect such words to come out of their mouths.
Kenya’s thought process unable to understand their words.
The two people who were such good friends, people who he thought as people of good character.
So much as they were different from rest of Asgard Empire people.
“They are the same people! Don’t kill them!”
Jin then comes up to Kenya’s side, taps him on the shoulder over the KOG, and communicates to Kenya.
“You’re tired, rest today, Ken. We’ll take care of the rest. I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that. I’ll use my authority to hushed it up later.”
Jin swings his sword past Kenya, who remains motionless.
At the end of it, the resistance trembles behind Kenya.
The sword is swung down.
But what flies is not fresh blood, but the iron arm of a giant.
It was obvious who sent it flying.
“Ken-oh!!!”
The arm of the KOG operated by Jin flies.
With a flash of the KOG, which Kenya operated.
The scene was also seen by the soldiers behind him, Nez, who was communicating with him, and Reelbert.
Many soldiers on that battlefield saw it.
Namely.
“K-Ken-sama, ! That, that is rebellion! Against Odin-sama!”
A definitive breach of military protocol.
Imperial orders are absolute, in the military. It is an iron law of absolute obedience.
“Ah, yes, I have learnt that in the last six months. But I can’t. I can’t just sit back and let it happen.”
As if the resistance is on his back and protecting him.
Kenya renders all the KOGs around him combat-ready one after another.
Many soldiers, including infantry, fled frightened from his power.
“Ken! Stop!!! Stop!”
Neither Jin’s earnest appeals nor Reelbert’s voice reached him.
Kenya cannot hear such voices. All he hears is a voice asking for help.
The voices of everyone who had their hands reached out at him that day, but he was unable to hold on to them.
The people trembling behind Kenya overlap with the people from that day.
Azusa, Midori, the civilians who couldn’t resist, and everyone in the resistance.
They overlapped with everyone who had been killed unreasonably.
I understand that this kind of thing is happening elsewhere in the world.
But still.
“I’m sorry, Jin-san. Reelbert-san.”
Now that I could see them, now that I knew them, I couldn’t abandon them.
“Are you serious… Ken-kun?”
Gun in one hand, sword in the other.
And on his back, the resistance people.
And in front.
“I cannot obey that order.”
The most powerful One man army in the world.
***
“What the hell? Rebellion? Who!”
The news was immediately communicated to Odin.
“That… that’s… that Ken Sylphid…”
Major Nez reports back to Odin over the communication.
“Ken… the would-be Knight of the Rhode! Why!!! The reasons!”
“No, we don’t know for sure. He told us not to kill the resistance…”
“Hmm… I see.”
—-It sounds like his knight… but you don’t understand what that means, do you?
“So? Did you recover it yourself? It’s only one unit, albeit a strong one. If you pushed in numbers, you should be able to neutralise it in no time…”
“Well, that’s…”
***
“Is this your seriousness, Ken?”
Many KOGs that have been incapacitated in battle, including Jin, become a pile of iron scraps.
Jin looks at Kenya from that immobilised KOG in astonishment.
He is serious and is doing everything he can to stop them, saying that a few injuries, or worse, even death, is not an option, but he can’t stop them.
The world’s strongest army, with the highest level of training in the world.
Even though it is used to suppress resistance, its strength cannot possibly be suppressed by a single man.
And yet, one after another, they are losing the ability to fight, literally just losing the ability to fight, not dying.
In other words, he takes it easy on them, and is carefully neutralized so that they don’t die.
That’s why there have been no deaths since Kenya’s rebellion, friend or foe alike.
With his other-dimensional manipulation techniques and combat power that even makes one shudder, even third-class citizens, including the Resistance.
“Ken-kun! Stop! No more! You can’t undo any more than this!”
Jin, who is unable to fight, and Reelbert, who still continues to try hard to persuade him in the midst of it all.
“I’m sorry, Reelbert-san. I can’t agree to that.”
He holds up his sword and says straight out.
“Pull back, I don’t hurt people who don’t want to fight!”
The ever so proud and mighty Asgard Empire army could not stop the giant.
Only one man flew in after receiving a call from his men.
Except for one boy who landed on that battlefield.
***
“Hah, my knight… you always mess up my plans… but…”
The boy chuckles because he is a little happy with his behavior?
“That’s what I like about you, though.”
