When You Are Mine - Chapter 328
Hillary wasn’t expecting any of her plans to go south today, she was sure she’d succeed in killing the old Beau as well as Blake. With the old man gone she’d be able to get her hands on that lawyer and get the will because Jake would be too distraught to look after him or the company.
When the butler told her about the will, all her muscles started twitching excitedly so much she couldn’t think about anything else other than laying her hands on it. She couldn’t believe that the will would be lying around while she had looked for it for such a long time. She had searched for it in that very house. Several times she had invaded the house with the help of the butler to search for it but all to no avail.
On several occasions, she had wanted to kill the old man in sheer frustration but she has always been able to refrain from doing such because she knew she had to be careful, constructive and meticulous in all her plans. Abruptly murdering the old man might raise some dust and brows, and she might be investigated. She didn’t think it would make sense to go to jail after finally acquiring what she had been yearning for, for years.
Ah, the things she had done for power and wealth. Over a decade she had been patient, she had been calculative but now all her efforts were about to go to waste?
No! she won’t allow it.
She wasn’t going to go down just like that, and most importantly it can’t be Jake who takes her down. If she must be exposed she’ll take everyone in his household to their doom before a hand is laid on her.
What riled her up was the carelessness which she had exhibited today. She was infuriated with herself. How did she not think that this could all be a trap? How could she have fallen deeply for this shit? She looked at the badly wounded man on the floor and all that went through her mind was plunging a knife into his heart so his miserable life would end for good.
When she heard Jake speak those words, “Its game over Hillary.” She felt a surge of anger shoot through her veins. She wanted to kill him on the spot as well.
She raised her eyes and looked at him blazingly, “Not until I say so. Before I die or go to jail, I’ll send your brother and grandfather to hell!” She snarled.
Jake scoffed when he heard her, but then his looks changed when he saw the look in her eyes. He knew this woman well. He looked at her challengingly, his brain was sending him warning alarms in his head. He had a feeling Blake was in danger. He narrowed his eyes at Hillary and asked, “What did you do to my brother?” Jake asked with a murderous tone but Hillary casually scoffed not minding how fierce he looked. Her attitude made Jake more livid. His heart was pounding so hard against his chest, anger and hatred were coursing through his veins.
“You’ll just have to wait and see.” Hillary cackled crazily. Jake had just burnt her dreams in front of her, the only thing she had worked for all her life, so it was only natural that she pays him back in his coin.
“Hillary!” Jake growled he was slowly losing his sanity. Jake was about to close in on her when his phone started to ring. His heart skid when he saw it was Blake’s shadow guard who was calling.
He hastily picked up the call, “Where is my brother?” Jake hurriedly demanded.
“Boss”
“What is it?” Jake roared into the phone his eyes staring at Hillary who had a smirk on her face. She was confident it was bad news for Jake.
“Boss there’s been an explosion.” The man reported from the other side of the phone.
“What explosion?” Jake hesitantly asked.
“A car explosion sir. Your brother’s car has just exploded on the highway.”
…
At the hospital.
Lair hasn’t been able to step a foot outside of the grandfather’s Beau room. He had given him some medications which were running intravenously. He could still remember how the old man cringed when he stuck a needle in his hand. Funny! He smiled.
Lair was still busy going through the old man’s medical file when a middle-aged man stepped into the room dressed in a lab coat. It was one of Lair’s Superior colleagues. Lair’s lip curved upward when the man stepped into the room. It was as he suspected.
“Dr David.” Lair politely greeted.
“Dr Walker.” The man greeted back with a handshake.
“How is he?” Dr David asked tilting his chin towards the old man who was sleeping.
“Not good, but he’ll live,” Lair replied while the man nodded his head.
“Okay, I’ll be taking it from here.” The man said making Lair cock his brows.
“I’m sorry sir but this is my case,” Lair stated making a sigh.
“Yes I know, but he’s also my patient. I’m his family doctor and I’m very familiar with his case. You know how these things are right?” He asked Lair who nodded his head in understanding.
“Okay sir, here’s his file,” Lair said handing the case file to him. The man received it and patted his shoulder.
“Thank you for looking after him.” The man appreciated Lair who nodded and walked away but not before looking at the camera secretly placed in the room.
Lair had removed the results of the test he had carried out on grandfather Beau. If this must work he had to make sure whoever this person was he/she doesn’t get a clue about. He had a feeling he had seen who he was looking for but he had to hundred per cent sure. He paused at the door and looked at the man who seemed to be impatiently waiting for him to leave.
“Dr David.” He called.
“Yes.”
“Do you think that his predicament might have an underlying cause?” Lair inquired, his gaze intently fixed on the man as he tried to observe every of his expression. And he couldn’t help but notice the look of unease that graced the man’s face.
“What do you mean?” The man nervously asked. “Do you think he’s been poisoned or what?
“Poisoned?” Lair asked feigning surprise before erupting out in laughter. Shaking his head Lair replied, “Dr David you’re going too far.”
“Then what do you mean?” Lair noticed how unsettled he was. And of things, he could come up with as medical personnel why poison?
“Well, I just found his case weird. He tends not to be improving despite the several medications he has been placed on. So I thought we might just be looking at the wrong thing, maybe a primary condition that has resulted in the symptoms he’s presenting.” Lair shrugged while the man’s face regained its calmness.
“I don’t think so. But I’ll look into what you’ve said. Than for sharing your input with me.” The man said with a genuine smile which Lair responded to before walking away.
Lair scoffed the moment he stepped out of the room. He looked at the door and shook his head. Dr David was indeed the culprit they were looking for.. All he had to do was catch the man red-handed, and he knew exactly how to do that.
