Where Fate Leads - Chapter 3 We Meet Once We Meet Again
He had long white silky hair, and midnight colored eyes, but he didn’t have a mask on and he looked confused when he saw an identical mini version of him.
“Papa!” blurted out the little child. I covered his mouth to stop him from saying any more.
“I am very sorry sir,” I said keeping my head low. When I didn’t hear any reaction, I brought my head up. My breath was taken away in a heartbeat. Having never seen past that mask, the guy I was having eye contact with didn’t look the way I would have imagined. It felt like there was some familiarity between us and for once, I thought it was him.
He smiled after seeing my face, “It is okay Ms.” Once I heard his voice, it was confirmed. It was him! But if he didn’t recognize me right away, I guess I can’t say anything in case I get misunderstood. I whispered in my little boy’s ear. He apologizes to the man and we left and I hope that was just our first meeting and there will be more in the future.
(His POV)
He had only said four words to her. He noticed who she was right away and his heart was filled with pain when it was her child that looked like him. I got her pregnant, he thought over and over again and he felt it was his fault.
That day, it was all because of his stupid cousin who had drugged him with aphrodisiacs. Whatever had happened though, he didn’t remember until he woke up. He thought about taking the girl with him since he had done wrong to her, but he didn’t know her and what if she reported him. He meant to never meet her again and yet he still did.
(Yu Yan’s POV)
That night, as the festival continued, I laid wide awake as Chen Hui was wrapped around my arms sleeping. I kept on remembering his face and over and over it spun in my mind.
“Mama, when will I see papa again?” the little boy spoke in his dreams. I stroked his hair and smiled to myself. He just met him and he already claims him as his father, this little son of mine. Well, it wasn’t like he was wrong because it is his father.
After a while, I decided to fall asleep. Tomorrow, after I dropped Chen Hui off at his aunt’s place I will have to go to the villages reading chambers. Though Chen Hui was only 4 years old, he was capable of many things, it is about time that I teach him how to use his unknown powers.
The Next Morning
“I’ll see you later my baby, make sure you don’t get into trouble if I hear good things, I will reward you with your favorite sweets this evening,” I said kissing the little boy’s forehead. He gave me a nod before he disappears into the house along with the aunty.
I walked down the crowd streets of the village, though there were many men walking up to me, I gave them the cold shoulder, I have already made a mistake once and I wasn’t going to dare myself to make another one. Eventually, I got to the book chamber. I scanned around at the scrolls and stitched book labels. My eyes soon landed on a stack of books all for beginner toddlers. The same books I read back in The Land of Wolves, where I was trained on the mountain by my ex-future to-be husband.
Though teaching my son would be easy and he gave off the aura of a strong power, I was scared that the boy would end up like me. I was strong back in The Land of Wolves. I was so strong that by the time I mastered the power of Heaven and the Underworld I was already engaged to the tribe leader. Though this was good, I was weak in another way. I can’t use my power for long and it takes too much energy force. This was the price of holding so much power, but it wasn’t something uncommon in my line of the family. The last person who had a weak physique and energy force was my grandmother. It was heredity.
My son looks exactly like his father, I just hope he isn’t weak like his mother. I sigh as I checked out the books with my thin glass card before I left with the stacks of books covering my faces, some for my little son to learn reading, math, and writing. Most were power using books and what topped the rest were books of medicine for me to study.
It wasn’t until halfway before I reached the aunty’s house did I notice a familiar body talking to the old lady. I could even see my son and hear his voice. When my son noticed me walking towards the house he called for me handing me shocking news, “Mama!” When I was at the door the man stepped aside and our eyes locked. It was him!
“Mama, papa came to see me!” he said joyously.
