Where Fate Leads - Chapter 4 Hong Zian Shun
He walked with me back to my place helping me carrying the books. There were signs this time that told me he remembered me. It made me feel unsteady and uncomfortable. Chen Hui on the other hand innocently talked to him and asked him many questions.
When I called out to Chen Hui to come to help me in the kitchen he didn’t budge away from the man. I listened from the kitchen as they talked, it was quite nauseating until she heard her little boy ask, “You’re my papa right? How come mom never talks about you, and she doesn’t call you by your name either.” That little kid, I thought in my head. I continued listening as I also stirred the pot so the food wouldn’t get burned.
“Papa’s name is Hong Zian Shun.” I trembled at the words I just heard. I lived in The Land of Wolves, a small village on top of Xu Xiang’s highest mountain. The Kingdom of Xu Xiang was the core of the Seven Heaven’s. Xu Xiang had a ruler, and the rulers have all been from the Hong family and so the surname was very popular. The emperor had a son though, but it came painfully to her to know that she had given birth to a child of a future emperor. The good news was that Chen Hui was still young and so he didn’t know that his father was a prince. After she heard their conversation, she drifted her attention back to the pot no longer listening to their long-lasting conversation.
She soon came out with three bowls of rabbit stew, pork and mushroom dumpling, and mooncake. She served the little child a berry drink and poured tea for her guest.
“I’m very sorry if you’re not used to eating these type of food,” I said not trying to sound mean or rude. “What do you mean he replied? The food must be good since it is from my wife.” I sneered at the words he said. If he was a normal citizen I would be fine with his presence but he wasn’t, instead, he was a prince and for whatever his reason for visiting her was not of good attention.
After eating, Chen Hui went outside to fly his kite as I kept the prince inside to interrogate him. Though I didn’t need to because he sat down and truthfully told me the reason for his business.
“Your son, my son, or our son, however, you prefer it, I want to take custody of him. I know I have done wrong to you that might have made your life full of misery and now I am taking the child you have cared all by yourself, but Chen Hui can be the next heir after I take the throne.”
Never had I ever heard of something so stupid before, not only does he remember that he had taken away my pureness, but now he was taking my son who he hadn’t given birth to or named.
“No.” I bluntly said, “You may see and visit Chen Hui, but you are not allowed to take him away from me. I raised him, he may look like you but he’s my son more than he is yours.” Even if he was of royal blood, I did not care. He gave up quick though seeing that I wouldn’t be changing my mind for a while.
“Then I will come often to see my son,” he said pitifully. I nodded agreeing with him.
“Feel free to come anytime, just make sure no one is following you or a scandal may spread.”
“Don’t worry my future to be queen. as long as I have a woman who has born me a male boy, I will still become an emperor. I would like to thank you though, for not having aborted the baby.”
I frowned, “Why would I have to abort a baby, though he was born from a mistake and unpureness, I treat him as if he was a gift from the sky. Because I didn’t abort him, I was banished from my village. This is the reason why I won’t let you take him away, my name has been removed from my family line so I no longer have a surname meaning I have no family, Chen Hui is my only family right now.”
His face fell when he heard the words which left my mouth. He realized that he did more than just taking away my virginity.
I stared at him, Hong Zian Shun, he was the only heir to the throne beside his cousin. The crown prince. In the Seven Lands of Heaven, he is known for being handsome, flirtatious, but also very mighty. In The Land of Wolves though, the tribe leader described him as a masked phantom. That described why he wore a mask that time. Now that I look closer at this prince, he doesn’t appear like how my parents or the tribe leader described him.
After immense staring, I glanced over outside and noticed that the sun was leaving us, and my little boy had not returned yet.
