Who Said A Mosquito Can’t Cultivate? - Chapter 27
Ding!
‘500 points of Impure Blood Energy has been consumed.’
Going along the line of upgrading my skills, the first skill that I upgraded was my blood sucking efficiency skill.
Whoosh!
________
Please choose:
[Relentless Proboscis Drill] – Has a maximum level of 40. Transforms the matrix of blood into a layer around the proboscis that enhances blood sucking effectiveness and speed, increasing blood sucking efficiency by 6 per level.
[Crimson Proboscis Amaranth] – Has a maximum level of 40. Compresses the matrix of blood into a petal-like shape, making the insides of the proboscis look like a field of amaranths, allowing multiple blood points to be stored within. Increases blood sucking efficiency and storage capacity by 4 points each per level.
[Radiant Proboscis Mk. I] – Has a maximum level of 40. Uses the matrix of blood to refine the proboscis, allowing it to radiate a faint glow of red around it, giving it more affinity with blood. Increases blood sucking efficiency by 5 points per level. Allows the user to use [Blood Rebirth], increasing the user’s blood sucking efficiency by 50% for a limited time.
________
Huh… didn’t expect there to be three choices for the skill evolution path of my blood sucking skill. One’s focused on pure blood sucking efficiency, one’s focused on combined storage and blood sucking efficiency, which was my choice for the first two evolutions of the skill, and the last one is…just…woah.
Well then. I guess I’m discarding the tradition of balancing my blood sucking efficiency and storage. This is just a skill that’s too good to pass up on, to be honest. Increasing my total blood sucking efficiency by 50%? After upgrading this skill to the max level, how much blood sucking efficiency would I have? How much would the skill be boosting by then? How fast would I be sucking blood out of a living being?
That’s it. I’m choosing it! I won’t regret choosing it, ever!
Ding!
‘[Sanguine Proboscis Matrix Lv. MAX -> Crimson Proboscis Amaranth Lv. 1]’
Ha. Got you. You thought I’d choose it? Well… it’s very tempting, not gonna lie.
But think about it this way, the skill doesn’t really tell me anything about the effect duration of the skill. Sure, it does tell me that it lasts for a short time, but how short is it? A minute? 10 seconds? A second? A millisecond? If that’s the case, it’s better to just stick to an evolution path that’s tried and tested by me.
Also, note that with this system, storage is everything, blood sucking efficiency is second. If I don’t have enough storage to store enough blood, then I wouldn’t be able to show the system’s full potential. That’s why every point of storage I could get counts.
But that doesn’t mean I could slack off on my blood sucking efficiency stat. A good balance must always be met.
Anyways, time to move onto the second skill. My main storage.
Ding!
________
Please choose:
[Super Refined Blood Storage] – Has a maximum level of 40. Through special methods, the blood that is absorbed undergoes greater purification and refinement, reducing the amount of Impure Blood Energy needed to create Pure Blood Energy by 50 percent. Increases storage capacity by 4 points per level. (200k -> 100k points)
[False Blood Dimension] – Has a maximum level of 40. Using the power hidden in blood, a greater storage space is established, allowing more blood to be stored at a given time. Increases storage capacity by 8 points per level.
________
Well then. I’m given the same choice as before. Do I focus on pure storage capacity or storage capacity but with the added benefit of needing less blood to create Pure Blood Energy?
Hmm…since I’ve been choosing it from the start, and I’m extremely curious as to what it does, I guess I’ll choose it until the conversion rate is low enough for it to be doable.
Ding!
‘Purified Blood Storage Lv. MAX -> Super Refined Blood Storage Lv. 1’
‘You have obtained a new title: Sanguine Devourer.’
Oh yeah, the title. I wonder how much blood sucking efficiency and storage capacity it would give me?
No other way to find out than to check it out.
Ding!
________
[Sanguine Devourer]
Requirement: Evolve the main blood storage and blood sucking efficiency skill to the third tier.
Effect: +20 Blood Sucking Efficiency, +40 Main Storage Capacity
________
Well, it ain’t a bad effect. But now that I’m looking at this title, I could not help but wonder. Since the third tier of skills need me to go through 40 levels, how much levels would I have to go through for the fourth tier of skills? Fifth? Sixth? Would it range at the hundreds by then? Would the effect of the title be worth it?
Bell, you’re overthinking. Stop it. Your goal is to become the very best mosquito, like no other mosquito ever was. Isn’t your goal to become the legendary mosquito immortal of legends?
Well yes, Bell. That’s correct. You’re right, I should stop overthinking. Okay, conversation with myself over. I should move onto the Second Blood Storage. I wonder how much storage it would give every level?
Ding!
‘1000 points of Impure Blood Energy has been consumed.’
________
Please choose:
[Really Big Second Blood Storage] – Has a maximum level of 25. Through special methods, the stored Impure Blood Energy is compacted, allowing more points of Impure Blood Energy to be stored. Increases storage capacity by 800 points per level.
[Greater Alchemical Second Blood Storage] – Has a maximum level of 25. Through special methods, a resonance between the points of Impure Blood Energy is made, increasing the user’s affinity with blood, increasing the user’s blood sucking efficiency. Increases storage capacity by 500 points per level, while increasing blood sucking efficiency by 3 points per level.
________
Hmm…I think I’m taking back what I said before about balance and all that shit. I have a hunch that there’s no limit to the amount of evolution tiers for a skill, and I sure damn hope it’s true because I’m bound to regret choosing this in the near future.
Ding!
‘Expanded Second Blood Storage Lv. MAX -> Greater Alchemical Second Blood Storage Lv. 1’
Well, if you think about it…you know what? It’s useless for me to give reasons. I’ll just move onto the last skill to upgrade.
Ding!
‘1000 points of Impure Blood Energy has been consumed.’
________
Please choose:
[More Efficient Blood Transfer] – Has a maximum level of 25. By reducing the amount of blood that collides with the transfer walls while increasing the speed of flow, the blood stored is more fresh, reducing the cost of abilities and features that use Impure Blood Energy by 25% (multiplicative)
[Berserk Blood Transfer] – Has a maximum level of 25. Through special methods, a resonance of Impure Blood Energy is created while transferring through the transfer tubes, increasing the user’s Constitution by 0.05. (Cannot be increased by levelling up)
________
Oh? This is the first time I’ve seen a skill do this before. Increasing my Constitution by a fixed value? That’s pretty good. Of course, it would be better if it increased my Constitution per level I upgrade it. No wait, the system wouldn’t allow me to do so because it would give me a ton of Constitution if that’s the case.
Would I grab it? Nope. There’s still a ton of animals to succ blood from. And you know me, a mosquito that likes to give every being the succ, whether they be female or male.
Ding!
‘Efficient Blood Transfer Lv. MAX -> More Efficient Blood Transfer Lv. 1′
It’s a shame that the cost reduction is multiplicative rather than additive. If it was additive, I would be looking at a 45% reduction of cost, and that would definitely allow me to splurge points on the physique…for one level.
Anyways, with my skills all evolved to the next tier, it’s now time to really focus on improving my Constitution. It’s only been the third day of my life as a mosquito, and I’ve been making great strides in terms of strength improvement.
I have a feeling that I will be able to avenge my brothers and sisters from my birthplace very soon. Just you wait guys…and gals! Your fellow brother Bell will soon avenge you!
Okay, with that all done, what animal should I suck from?
Whoosh! Whoosh! Buzz…
I flew away from the corpse of the fifth wolf I killed, flying through the forest in search of a new animal to obtain more Constitution from.
Well, speaking of wolf, the memories of the power of the Level 1 Skills could not help but resurface on my mind. Like holy shit, I was not expecting that level of firepower from just a single level difference. If a Level 1 Skill alone was already that powerful, then how powerful would a Level 2 Skill be?
Hmm…I could go ahead and spend a few Bloodlust Points and unlock a Level 2 Skill and max it out its limit, but it would be breaking my promise of using all of them after I evolved my skills.
Wait…I evolved all of my skills, plus I’ve broken the promise I made to myself while killing the wolves, unlocking and maxing out Level 1 Skills. Why am I making promises to myself that I could easily break? Doesn’t matter at this point, I’ll just use my Bloodlust Points at any time, but sparingly.
And with that promise, which I made sure to uphold, I opened up the Proboscis section of the melee skills, with the Level 2 Skills ready to be unlocked. To be honest, after upgrading one of the Level 1 Skills to the max level, I had already unlocked the option of learning Level 2 Skills.
I decided at this point of time to learn only one Level 2 Skill. For now, I’ll regard it as my ultimate move. Speaking of which, I haven’t used Void Enhancement before. How much power would it boost when I use it in tandem with my usual skill combination?
Ding!
________
Proboscis:
Level 0 (expand/close)
Level 1 (expand/close)
——–
Level 2:
Needle Impact (?/?) – 1 point to unlock
Transient Needle (?/?) – 1 point to unlock
________
From the names alone, I have a feeling that Needle Impact is a skill that affects a decently large area, while Transient Needle is a perfect fit for a mosquito trying to become an assassin. Hmm…what should I pick?
Using the Quintuple Needle Pierce and Paralysis Imbuement+ combo is already enough for fights with single enemies, so it would be useless to unlock Transient Needle. If you also consider the fact that I rarely come across highly evolved living beings in this forest, it would just be a situation where I’m using a laser cutter to cut tofu where a simple knife could do the trick.
But ain’t that what I’m already doing, you might ask? Well…I don’t want to make the situation worse. If I can avoid it for now, then I’ll do so.
And so, I’ll be choosing Needle Impact. I wonder how much of an impact it can bring?
Ding!
’10 Bloodlust Points have been consumed.’
‘You have unlocked Needle Impact.’
‘Needle Impact -> Great Needle Impact -> Grand Needle Impact -> Needle Impact Maxima’
Oof. It costed me just a point to unlock, but then it had three levels to upgrade, which costed three points each. I don’t wanna think about the cost of Level 3 Skills.
Speaking of which, why aren’t Level 3 Skills unlocked yet?
With that question in mind, I asked the system. Not long after, the system answered my question with an acceptable reason.
‘User must evolve their bloodline a third time to unlock Level 3 Skills. Same goes for Level 4 Skills and so on, needing the same amount of bloodline evolutions to unlock.’
Well, I have no qualms with that. Anyways, after ten minutes or so of searching through the forest of prey to increase my Constitution, I came across a clearing.
Was this clearing filled to the brim with animals? Yes, yes it was. Now, was the clearing filled to the brim with animals that I have obtained Constitution from before? No. That’s the good point.
This clearing was filled to the brim with rabbits. Cute, fluffy animals that liked to jump around and eat…and mate. Man were there a lot of rabbits within this clearing. With just a single glance, I had a guess that the amount of rabbits here were at the higher hundreds.
That doesn’t mean I hate it though, the more animals, the more blood points for me. Not only that, I could also see a few unique rabbits that stood out from the mass of white rabbits. In other words, more Constitution for me!
Whoosh!
Without hesitation, I dived down from where I was, heading towards a unique rabbit that had silver and red fur instead of white. To be honest, that was the only variant of unique rabbit here. But with my Qi Perception stat activated, I’m pretty sure that it at least awakened its bloodline one time. The aura says so.
And with that out of the way…
Quintuple Needle Pierce!
Paralysis Imbuement+!
Poke! Poke! Poke! Poke! Poke!
Now…where am I using this skill on this unique rabbit? Well…the skull. To be honest, I’m kind of regretting it. Why?
On the first pierce, the strength hidden behind the attack pinned the rabbit down to the ground. Thankfully, this pinning down did not attract the other rabbits’ attention.
But then the second pierce came.
Sploosh!
At that instant, the skull of the rabbit broke into fragments, as if it exploded, allowing the brain to be seen in broad daylight. Some blood could be seen flowing out of the opening.
But of course, it wasn’t over.
The third pierce came, squashing the brain into chunks, which mixed with the blood as the rabbit head flattened as bone cracking sounds lightly resounded throughout the surroundings. At this point, the other rabbits had taken notice of this, running away from this rabbit.
The fourth and fifth pierce made the sight worse, splashing the brain chunks and blood everywhere. Not only that, since I aimed at the rabbit’s skull at an angle, the rabbit’s skull was broken at that angle as well. Just imagine a dam opening its gates to release water. This time, replace the dam with the skull and the water with the blood…which is gradually trickling out of the head.
Eugh.
Ding!
‘You have successfully killed a Moon Blood Rabbit!’
‘You have obtained 3 Bloodlust Points.’
‘You have obtained 32 points of Impure Blood Energy from killing the creature.’
‘Due to the rabbit’s shock enveloping your body, you have obtained [Moon Blood Rabbit’s Agility].’
‘Moon Blood Rabbit’s Agility (0/10) -> (3/10)’
‘Constitution +0.006’
‘You have obtained the skill [Body Shift].’
Man.
I’m pretty grateful to be strong.
It succs to be the prey that dies. Especially if you die a gruesome death like that.
