Who Said A Mosquito Can’t Cultivate? - Chapter 41
Seriously though, who in their right mind would think that losing their chastity through someone they did not know is the best method to escape an arranged marriage? Wellnow that I think about it, although this village looks like it was made before the medieval ages, this rule is quite modern if I look at it from another perspective. Anyways, that method is the worst and most stupid method I’ve heard so far.
There are far easier methods to escape an arranged marriage. Even someone like me could think up of easier methods to escape it rather than lose my chastity, and I was bedridden throughout my previous life! First off, since this is a cultivation world, wouldn’t it make sense if the arranged marriage would be annulled if the woman being married was of a higher cultivation realm than the man? Hmmalthough there are times that the arranged marriage would still continue even if the woman was of a higher cultivation realm, most of the time, the opposite would happen, with the end result being that the arranged marriage would be annulled.
With her question still lingering in my mind, I could not help but say in a slightly irritated manner, “Why are you asking me about that? I’m a mosquito, I don’t care about the relationships of humans. Either way, the fact that you thought that r*pe is the best way to escape an arranged marriage is incredibly stupid. In other words, you’re incredibly stupid.”
Hearing that she was being called incredibly stupid by an insect that had a brain multiple levels smaller than humans, she could not help but get infuriated, replacing her despondent self. She stared at me with eyes that looked like daggers that were ready to stab me at any time, responding softly in an irritated tone as it was night, “Do you really think I’m that stupid? Well then. If you, the great insect that seems to know it all, find a way to escape this arranged marriage of mine that hasn’t been thought up by me, then I’ll admit that I’m incredibly stupid.”
Oh? Is that so? Someone like you is willing to listen to the advice of a mosquito, who has a superbly smaller brain than you? That alone screams out your immense stupidityalthough it does also scream out your immense despair to find out a way out.
Letting out a sigh inwardly, I channeled my qi towards my proboscis, speaking out not long after in an indifferent tone. “Isn’t there a rule that allows an arranged marriage to be annulled if the woman has a higher cultivation realm than the man? Wouldn’t that allow you to easily escape it?”
“I’ve already thought of that, oh great insect,” she responded in a mocking manner. Not long after, she added, “Sure, there’s a rule like that, but the disparity between my cultivation realm and the person I’m going to marry is incredibly large.”
“Haven’t you ever thought of cultivating assiduously before you two tie the knot?” I asked in an inquisitive manner as I flew here and there. Although I’m pretty sure that she thought of that as well, there’s no harm in making sure that she did not think of it before. “With enough time, you’d be able to surpass his cultivation, right?”
“Emphasis on enough time,” she answered, her tone slightly cold. “The reason why I have a cultivation at the first stage of Qi Proliferation is purely because of that thought, the thought of escaping this arranged marriage with a higher cultivation realm. Unfortunately, the heavens abandoned me as my arranged marriage, which was going to be held a year from now, was pushed forward to happen only a month from now. Now, do you think I have enough time to close the gap?”
“It depends on what cultivation realm your fiance is at,” I replied back. “If the gap between you two is small, you could close the gap in less than a mooh, right. You said the disparity between you two is large. How large are we talking here?”
“He’s at the fourth stage of the Base Creation realm.” As she responded to my question, she could not help but lie down on the table, her mood getting more and more despondent. “Do you think I could bridge the gap in a month’s time?”
At this point, I could not help but breathe deeply. I guess she’s not that stupid to think that r*pe was the best option to escape the arranged marriage. It’s near impossible to bridge that gap in a month’s timeunless she was some sort of monstrous cultivation genius that could fight against those at a higher realm than hers. Judging from the aura she was radiating at the moment through Qi Perception, that is definitely not the case since her cultivation aura is just half as powerful as mine, even though we’re at the same realm.
Then again, there’s one more way to escape an arranged marriage like that, one that’s even done back then in my previous life. It’s also the most obvious solution to this problem as long as you have the skills to make sure you’re not traced.
Of course, it’s leaving the village.
“Okay, it seems you’re not as stupid as I thought,” I said after a moment of ponderation. “Anyways, have you ever thought of leaving the village to escape this problem you have?”
Hearing my suggestion, she could not help but scoff at it, responding, “Of course, I have. Naturally, that’s the most obvious thing to do to escape an arranged marriage.”
“Then why haven’t you left the village yet?” I answered back with question, slightly curious as to why she hadn’t do so if she knew she could do that.
“If I had the ability to do so, I would’ve done so already,” she replied, letting out a sigh not long after. “I’m sure you’ve heard what the man who wanted to r*pe me said before you killed him. The fact that I’m from a rich family, that is.”
“Yeah, I have,” I responded back. “Speaking of which, this is quite a small house for someone who’s from a rich family.”
“I left the household since I wanted to be independent,” she answered as she looked out of the window, seemingly admiring the stars as she let out a sigh once more. “It’s quite suffocating to live in a rich family where your every move is controlled, calculated, and ordained.”
Well then, I guess her parents are the kind of parents that always thinks of profits rather than the happiness of the child. I’m definitely sure that the reason why she’s going to get married to someone she doesn’t even know is solely because of this. A merging of assets.
“Anyways, what does your rich family have to do with leaving the village?” I asked, only to realize what she was trying to imply a few seconds later as I added, “Does your family have guards that bar you from leaving the village?”
“Bingo,” she answered back, letting out an incredibly long sigh filled with despair. “Now, do you still think I’m incredibly stupid?”
“Mhm, you still are in my eyes,” I responded without hesitation, slightly startling her in the process. Not long after that, as if she inferred something from my response, she could not help but sit straight and look at me with a piercing gaze once more, her aura turning increasingly haughty, a great contrast to what her eyes were saying, both of them being filled with excitement.
“Hoh? It seems that you truly deserve the title of great insect. Now, tell me, great insect, what is the other method you’ve thought of?” she crossed her arms as she said in an arrogant manner.
Now, am I going to respond to her question? Why should I? Am I going to get anything in exchange when I answer her question? Sure, she might be from a rich family, and as a rich family, she would definitely have material items she could give me. Butjudging from how she has acted thus far, I’m pretty sure that she wouldn’t even have an ounce of gratitude after helping her escape the arranged marriage.
With that in mind, I turned around, heading towards one of the open windows near the front door of the house as I responded, “How about no. I just came here to check if you were going to stay true to your words. Other than that, do you really expect such a lowly insect to have a suggestion that exceeds the thought process of a human?”
My words are quite contradicting, but due to her arrogance, she did not even notice that, standing up from her seat as she pointed towards me. She then responded in an irritated manner, “You damn insect, although you ‘saved’ me from getting r*ped, is that really how a savior should act? Don’t you think you should help this helpless girl one more time?”
“Helpless?” I scoffed at her response. “You’re far from being helpless. Not only that, you’re telling me, a mosquito, someone you call as a damn insect, to help you out? From how you’re speaking towards me, I have no inclination to help you out. I am kind to those who are kind to me. If you piss me off, then I’ll make sure to piss you off thousands of times.”
Buzz
Just as I was about to leave through the open window, I could not help but register the sound of hastened footsteps resounding throughout the insides of the house, with the sound of a blade being unsheathed not long after. At this point, I decided to turn my body around to see what the crazy woman has done, noticing that she was holding a knife, placing it close to her throat.
I guess this is also a way to escape an arranged marriage. She even talked about it a while ago.
Noticing that I stopped in my tracks, she started to shout in a haughty manner once more. “Well then, can the helpful mosquito leave this incident unchecked? Does it really want to see someone it has saved from harm a while ago, put themselves into harm once more?”
I hovered in place, letting out a slightly loud sigh as I responded, “I thought better of you a while ago, but now, my impression has fallen to an ultimate low. Not only are you insanely stupid, you’re also incredibly crazy that you’re willing to put your life into danger just so you could make sure that a mosquito would help you out in escaping that accursed arranged marriage of yours.”
Hearing what I said, she decided to put the knife closer to her throat, the distance between them being near zero. At this point in time, I could see that the hand holding the knife was slightly trembling. Then again, that’s what you expect from someone who doesn’t want to kill themselveseven though they say they could end their life just to escape an arranged marriage.
Nonetheless, she continued to put up an arrogant facade, saying, “Do you really want to see someone you saved die in front of you? Are you really that ruthless to let a helpless woman die in front of you?”
At this point, I decided that enough was enough, letting out an incredibly disappointed sigh as I turned around, responding with my back facing her, “Unfortunately for you, I am ruthless. Saving you was just something I done out of a whim. If you proceed to kill yourself, I would only care about the blood you spilled. That’s all.”
Not even an instant has passed since I said those words, but I could hear the sounds of metal and wood colliding with one another in a shaking manner get stronger. Using my Spatial receptors, I noticed that she placed the knife even closer to her throat, with the blade even touching her throat as I could not help but notice a small amount of blood slowly trickling out. I guess she’s not used to handling blades that much. As expected.
Anyways, the trembling of her hands had also affected her speaking manner, albeit still haughty. Left with no choice, she shouted, “I’m gonna do it! I’m seriously going to end my life here and now! If you don’t make a move, I’m seriously gonna die!”
Although I’ve only been beside her for what seemed to be around 15 minutes or so, I’ve seen the multiple sides of her within this single meeting, and man is it a lot. Other than that, I think I have a good idea of what she’s going to do next after my response. I wonder if she’s that foolhardy to end her life for the help of a single mosquito.
“Why are you hesitating?” I responded back in the coldest and most indifferent manner possible.
“Do it, you bitch. Wouldn’t you easily escape the arranged marriage that way?”
“Go ahead. End your life.”
At this point in time, the trembling sounds had reached their peak, with the sound of metal and wood colliding with another being heard throughout the whole house. I continued to hover near the open window, using my Spatial receptors to look at the crazy woman’s current state.
Using my receptors, I could not help but notice that tears were gradually brimming in her eyes as she shouted, “I’m gonnagonnado it!”
And then
Clang!
Thud!
Heh. As expected.
Turning around to face her, I noticed that the knife fell on the ground, its blade slightly covered in a bit of the crazy woman’s blood. As for her, there was a thin laceration on her throat, allowing anyone to know that she placed a knife on her throat.
Other than that, the tears in her eyes were now falling like a waterfall, incessant as she started to murmur words which piqued my interest.
