Wild Crimson Rose: Beloved Handyman Princes Courtesan Wife - Chapter 409
“There doesn’t seem to be anything dangerous down there so let’s decide on the order of who goes down, shall we?” She looked from the heavily black clad group to the ones wearing a variety of colors of clothing that was still convenient to move in.
In the end, they decided that the rest of Yaodu will follow, with Shen Tianyu stashed in a group in the middle of the line. Rong Jian’s subordinates will follow after them.
“This cavern really isn’t that big…” Shen Tianyu commented as she looked around. The liquid was held back at the top of the cavern, as if there really was a barrier holding it back but there was no bending of light nor Script on the walls that could prove this hypothesis.
Though the ground space was not very wide, it was high enough, from where the liquid ended, for a human to fall to their death. The cavern itself was a rocky orange-brown. There was only one path leading out of there so naturally, they spilled that way, since some of the parasites were already coming down. The pathway was not long and served more like a connected corridor than a pathway.
The cave after was many times larger than the one they had arrived in and even with the torches lit, some parts of the ground-level of the cave was still dark. The torches were already lit since Yun Tianhao and them were already in there so they couldn’t verify if they lit up automatically. There was indeed a raised platform in the middle with what looks like a ritual, or more like a magic circle Shen Tianyu would see in fantasy works back on Earth. The script within was familiar enough that she could tell they were Ancient Script but again, she could not decipher them.
‘This Monument might not suit me… Everything here seems to be in Ancient Script. Maybe Shao Wei will make better use of the treasures we find here.’ Shen Tianyu looked around the rest of the visible parts of the cave.
Since the cavern from before was small, more and more people trickled into the cave. This time, no one tried to cause trouble by accusing them of something since technically, they weren’t the first ones to take action. The body of the dead girl was laid, respectfully, in a corner of the cave. However, the people that were supposed to be from the same sect as her didn’t even give her a first glance and completely ignored her.
‘Looks like that girl’s body won’t be leaving the Monument.’ Shen Tianyu noted from their reactions. They probably wouldn’t bring the body back.
Well, it’s to be expected. Ascendant Monuments may have great treasures but there are also many dangers lurking within. Carrying a body with you when you don’t even know if you’ll make it out alive just didn’t make sense. A lot of corpses are left inside the Ruins when people leave, if they were able to at all.
“What’s that?” A young female cultivator pointed to a point on the cave wall above the torches.
Shen Tianyu followed her fingers and managed to make out some sort of sigil popping out of the wall.
“Maybe that’ll lead to something! Ah-Lun, come help me up!” The young cultivator was wearing a robe made of fine material with metal armor attached to her shoulders and knees.
At her behest, another young man hurried over and bent down to let her climb onto his shoulders.
“Miss, I don’t think we should touch-” Someone next to her warned her but was cut off.
“We came here by going through that weird lake so there’s a high possibility that this part of the Monument tests one’s courage! There’s no harm in trying it out, if anything happens, you guys will protect me, right?” She cheerily replied.
Shen Tianyu scoffed and hurried to gather her people around the central platform. Rong Jian subordinates followed too since he wasn’t giving them any instructions and was just following Shen Tianyu like a loyal puppy.
“Have you figured out what this does?” She inquired about Shao Wei’s progress on deciphering the Ancient Script all over the platform.
“Not yet. There’s a lot to decode so it’ll take a while.” He replied without taking his eyes off the ground of the platform.
“Okay, take your time.” She folded her arms and leaned against the side of the platform as she watched what the little young lady was going to do. Just because you braved through the lake above doesn’t mean the same logic will apply throughout the rest of the Monument.
When the young lady finally got close enough to the sigil, she reached her hands out to push it.
A large tremor shook the entire cave causing her to fall from the shoulders of the young man carrying her. What sounded like a wall caving in or being crashed into echoed throughout the space.
A Shield Talisman can expand depending on it’s user’s requirements but the bigger it was, the more spiritual energy was required to maintain it. Putting up a shield was so they could more clearly see what threats or dangers lie ahead before acting. Information is important in any situation, whether it was making a business deal or going to war.
However, just in case, Shen Tianyu took out a few more Shield Talismans and handed them to Rong Jian and Elder Yu. She was aware her spiritual energy was far less than Rong Jian’s and Elder Yu was one of the people with the highest cultivation level in Yaodu. Although she always insists she dislikes conflict.
Despite all this noise and ruckus, Shao Wei never once lifted his head nor shifted his eyes away from the platform.
‘What a strong mentality this boy has developed.’ Shen Tianyu whistled.
