Wild Crimson Rose: Beloved Handyman Princes Courtesan Wife - Chapter 410
‘What a strong mentality this boy has developed.’ Shen Tianyu whistled.
A variety of screams echoed from within the cave around them. A loud buzzing entered Shen Tianyu’s ears, biological, different from the mechanical sounds they had all heard before. Chaos ensued as more screams, running footsteps, and swords swinging joined the cacophony. However, the chaos had yet to reach them and their Shield.
“There’s not enough light. What are these people screaming their heads off for? I can’t see.” One of the members complained as he squinted his eyes to see through the darkness that blanketed the cave. The torches only provided minimal light for vision but didn’t cover the whole cave.
There seems to be something, or a hoard of something, flying about.” Another member replied.
“What? So it’s not anything big? Then what are they making so much noise for.” A third member scoffed at the panicking states of the other people.
“Well, just because they’re small doesn’t mean they’re not dangerous.” Shen Tianyu replied. “Let’s just stay in place for now.”
Some of the members relaxed their stances and began to stretch in boredom.
“Do you think we can light up the surroundings a bit more? I wonder just what’s making such a mess.” She said to the young man standing next to her.
She could summon up some fire for light but she was using her spiritual energy to maintain the Shield so she felt it wasn’t wise to split her attention. Therefore, she asked her partner to do it instead.
“Sure. But I didn’t bring any fire-related talismans with me, could Wifey give me some?” Rong Jian asked with his hand outstretched.
Shen Tianyu ruffled through her bag once more and handed a handful of Light Talismans to him. Light Talismans were just as the name implies, used similar to a flashlight. The reason they weren’t using Night Pearls was because talismans burn up and disappear once used up or after spiritual energy stops flowing into it. Night Pearls were different and though they seem common in the residences of cultivators or Sects, they were actually not replicable. The technology to make them have been long lost and the Night Pearls circulating in the world are either found in Ascendant Monuments of old, or inferior replicas that only last a short amount of time. Real Night Pearls will never diminish their light, proven by their existence after thousands of years. Unlike cheap imitations, though price-wise they weren’t cheap either, weren’t cloudy. Though both the real thing and fakes are fragile, fakes usually break easier.
Rong Jian infused his spiritual energy within the Light Talismans and threw them out of the Shield that protected them. This was, obviously, an external Shield Talisman that kept things out. but did not disallow exit.
The flaming yellow Light Talismans made a circle outside the Shield in midair, making it seem like a two-tier formation. With the extra light, the people within were finally able to see the situation of the cave more clearly.
Bodies were already lying on the ground, unmoving, though they were unsure if those people were dead or merely unconscious. Others were swinging their swords at the air or screaming with some doing both. What they were desperately trying to run away from, or swipe down with their swords were flying beings no bigger than a bat. They looked more like biologically enhances bees and mosquitos than bats, though.
“Urgh.” Shen Tianyu covered her mouth with an ashen face at seeing this scene.
“Wifey? What’s wrong? Are you okay? Is it the mess? Should I disconnect from the Light Talismans?” Rong Jian fussed about in worry.
“No. It’s fine. I just really… REALLY dislike bees and mosquitos. And these ones are so f.u.c.k.i.n.g big… ugh.” Shen Tianyu closed her eyes to block out the sight of those flying… monstrosities. Her sword was being loosely held in her other hand.
“It’s okay, Wifey. I’m here.” There was a tinge of a smile on Rong Jian’s face behind the mask as he held onto Shen Tianyu and patted her back to calm her down.
“Why do I hear a smudge of joy in your voice?” She snapped at him.
“What? How could that be? When my dear Wifey is suffering?” He immediately denied it.
“You are.”
“Am not.” This continued on for a few rounds until Rong Jian finally gave in.
“Fine. I am a little, but it’s not anything bad, I swear. Let me explain.” Rong Jian told her.
“Hmph. I can’t avoid you right now anyways.” Shen Tianyu pouted.
“You see, Wifey is too independent. Though I do like the hardworking you who’s trying your best and also the lazy you that just wants to lie around and eat, you do everything yourself. I, as your suitor and current husband want to help you out too. But you’re too independent so regardless, of if I help or not, you can always solve the any hiccups on your own. I’ve never seen Wifey like this… truly needing aid or comfort. Even if it’s for something insignificant, I wish you would look to me for help more.” Rong Jian tried to explain as best he could. Shen Tianyu had never really turned to him when she truly needed some help. It was always Rong Jian reaching out to help or it was a problem she could solve on her own anyways. The matter at Qiongqi Village involved other people as well so he knew they had to consider their safety also but Rong Jian knew, at the end of the day, Shen Tianyu would have been able to resolve the problem on her own even without him and his team there, though with more losses.
“It’s not like I never turn to you for help. I understand my limits and when I should back down and get reinforcements. As for the other stuff, my hands and feet work just fine, why would I need to look for someone else to help with a matter I can easily resolve on my own? My brain doesn’t have any problems either.” Shen Tianyu furrowed her eyebrows but he probably couldn’t see since she was leaning on his c.h.e.s.t.
