Wild Crimson Rose: Beloved Handyman Princes Courtesan Wife - Chapter 413
Initially, there were a few teammates of theirs that showed a worried expression but after seeing the Shield didn’t even wobble under the weight of the constant bombings, they eased their worries.
Now that the drones of Parasitic Bees and Face-Devouring Mosquitoes were thinning around the exit, some people slowly moved towards it, thinking they could continue on through there. Since they couldn’t move, Yaodu members and Rong Jian’s subordinates just stayed where they were.
Though the cacophony of demonic beasts banging on the Shield was noisy, it didn’t threaten their own safety so other than looking annoyed at the noise, no one within the Yaodu group seemed battle-ready.
“Wei-wei, what’s the platform for? Have you figured it out yet?” Shen Tianyu went over to Shao Wei to inquire about his transcription progress.
“It seems it’s another puzzle to open path but the area it covers is quite wide so I’ll need some more time to translate everything. We don’t want to try this with guesses since we don’t know what will happen.” The youth replied, still bent over as he examined the markings under his feet.
“Okay, but make sure to keep the time in check. We’re having a few do Shield duty but we can’t do this forever.” Shen Tianyu warned and he nodded his head in affirmation.
She then found a small spot between two symbols that was empty and took a seat at the edge of the platform.
…
When it came time to switch, Elder Yu went up to Rong Jian, who wordlessly nodded his head. They both took out their respective Shield Talismans and Rong Jian expanded his shield for a moment so that Elder Yu could make a dome inside his before dispelling the icy blue globe. In its place was now a warm orange bubble. The Parasitic Bees and Face-Devouring Mosquitos continued their assault on the new barrier. The ground outside, which was pushed aside by Rong Jian expanding his shield, was littered with dead bodies of their kind. Most died because they were too injured trying to break through the barrier.
The difference in color of the barriers was based off the individual person. It wasn’t unique to one person so there is a possibility of multiple cultivators having the same color when erecting a barrier. The colors were based off of each cultivator’s cultivation level as well as their personality. A cool and uncaring person would lean towards a cold color, while someone with a kind personality would lean towards a warmer color. However, that was just the general consensus on why it was because there wasn’t further research into the difference in colors. As long as the Shield talismans worked, cultivators generally didn’t care and there was no indication in the initial research that a specific color made for a stronger barrier.
Shen Tianyu yawned with a hand over her mouth as her legs swung back and forth from the platform. She eyed a few people that had gone into the habitat of the Parasitic Bees and Face-Devouring Mosquitos come back with dejected looks on their faces. Apparently, there wasn’t a way out over there. She saw a few more people that had stayed in their own Shield bubbles arguing but it was too noisy to hear what they were saying. Again, everyone was at a stalemate on how to continue into the Ruins.
The cultivators that had been caught off guard or tired themselves out fighting the two demonic beasts were either wandering around aimlessly or twitching on the rocky floor. The ones being possessed would try to enter into the Shield bubbles but the ones inside, knowing they were just hosts, didn’t let them in. Even if their consciousness was still awake, they could no longer control their bodies so it was too dangerous to be overtaken by a momentary feeling of pity. After not being let in, the possessed would bang on the Shields and try to break in but with the Parasitic Bees being unable to utilize the spiritual energy of the cultivators, the hosts only ended up with wounded hands or even broken hands from hitting the unrelenting Shields. Needless to say, the ones twitching on the ground were being feasted on by the other type of demonic beast. Being starved for seemingly quite along time, there were a few corpses that had multiple Face-Devouring Mosquitos inhabiting them.
‘Ugh, that’s disgusting. I want to get out of here soon…’ Shen Tianyu sighed with her cheek in her hand. She wasn’t opposed to blood and gore seeing as she was involved in the upper echelons of a big organization that had also had her fair share of conflicts but battles and seeing someone’s insides being devoured by an insect-looking demonic beast were entirely different things.
“I wish I could read something…” She mumbled. She did have a book and a Night Pearl with her but the problem was that demonic beasts were attracted to ancient structures like Night Pearls. Though the d.e.s.i.r.e was usually not strong enough when being used in a city or human settlement, but taking it out in the middle of a demonic beast hoard would just agitate them more. It is a convenient source of light compared to the Light Talisman that needs spiritual energy, though. Even if it doesn’t take a lot, in places like Ascendant Monuments every drop of spiritual energy counted since you don’t know hen you’ll meet danger. That’s also why they were rotating barrier duty before anyone’s spiritual energy started to run out.
“I got it!” Shen Tianyu heard from behind her. She shipped her head around to find Shao Wei looking up with an enlightened expression.
“You translated the whole thing? What’s this thing for?” Shen Tianyu was too lazy to even stand up and merely questioned him from her position at the edge of the platform.
“It’s a mechanism to unlock a Palace.” He told her with a straight face.
“And what is that? Is that the next stage of the Ruins? Doesn’t seem to be anywhere else we can go from here except back anyways.” She responded.
