Wild Crimson Rose: Beloved Handyman Princes Courtesan Wife - Chapter 414
“And what is that? Is that the next stage of the Ruins? Doesn’t seem to be anywhere else we can go from here except back anyways.” She responded.
“Most likely.” Shao Wei relied as he finally started to look around the mess that was the current cave.
It’s another puzzle that needs us to find something? How are we going to do that with all these stuff flying around?” Shen Tianyu g.r.o.a.n.e.d. Shield talismans were stationary so if they wanted to go about finding something, they’d need to dismantle it and go around unguarded.
“It’s just some Parasitic Bees and Face-Devouring Mosquitoes, as long as we’re on guard, we should be fine.” The Yaodu members nearby heard their exchange and came over to offer to go.
“No, I don’t think we need to get out of the Shield for now. Just let me look around the perimeter first.” Shao Wei walked over to the edge where Shen Tianyu was sitting. She jumped off the platform and allowed him to alight.
The others could only wait again as he went around searching for whatever he needed.
“What do you need to find? If it’s in here, maybe we can look for it all together.” Shen Tianyu commented.
“I don’t think you guys will be able to find it. It’s supposed to be hidden really well. Is there anyone else that understands the Ancient Script?” He asked.
A few members of Yaodu stepped out, all of them his juniors. He came to Yaodu much earlier than a lot of them and was also the most talented in learning the Ancient Script from his teacher so he had been carrying them before. However, there were a few other members that also knew Ancient Script, despite not being as proficient as him. Even so, the people that stepped out could be counted on one hand.
“What about your people?” Shen Tianyu looked over at Rong Jian, who in turn, looked at the leader of his subordinates today. The subordinate was a little startled since he had never seen his Master bend himself around another’s finger so willfully but he was quick to regain his senses.
“Reporting to Master, we only have one with us today. The rest are all cultivators specializing in various martial arts.” He cupped his hands and bowed with his eyes still trained on his Master to gauge his reaction.
Rong Jian gave him a disapproving look but nodded anyways.
‘It is always wise to prepare a group containing multiple people of various backgrounds. Having only one was certainly a lapse in organization, he, the Fourth Wangye of Rikui wasn’t lacking in people so why didn’t you plan better?’ was what the man translated from Rong Jian’s one glance.
The man called up the only person in their group moderately proficient in the Ancient Script and had him join Yaodu in searching for whatever Shao Wei was looking for. He pulled them aside and spoke to them but Shen Tianyu couldn’t hear what he said over all the buzzing of wings and whimpering people.
“You’re not going to check what he’s doing?” Rong Jian leaned in to ask while Shen Tianyu stared at the edge of the platform.
“Hm? Why?” She questioned back. Unlike some other leaders of organizations and Sects in Jianghu1, Shen Tianyu trusted in her subordinates.
Anyways, Yaodu more closely resembled a ragtag mercenary group before she came so the people in it wouldn’t want to be restricted and monitored in the first place. Second of all, she had trust in the people she deemed as her direct subordinates. An organization isn’t only built on rules and regulations, just as society isn’t. Trust needed to be present for it to function smoothly, just like how people trust the military to protect them and the officials to lead them towards more prosperity. Once that trust is lost, well, that’s why rebellions and uprisings take place, isn’t it?
“You really trust them, huh.” Rong Jian commented instead. Shen Tianyu kept quiet and didn’t respond. Maybe he already had a pretty clear idea of her position but his questions would help him confirm his suspicions if she answered them. She still hasn’t decided to fully disclose everything so it wasn’t wise to do that yet.
Yaodu trusted her as much as she trusted them. If anything were to happen as a result of her telling an outsider her place, it wouldn’t just be her at risk. There were entire families within it, where the parents, or maybe even the grandparents, had met within the organization. As a leader, she needed to think about them over her own selfishness.
“Senior Shao, is this it?” One of the people helping Shao Wei called out as she crouched on a seemingly empty patch of dirt.
Shao Wei went over to take a look and confirmed it upon closer inspection. “Good job.” He told her shortly as he began to do whatever he needed.
The girl gave a bright smile and got up, bounding away from her spot to avoid getting in his way. The others also returned to their original positions.
Shen Tianyu watched as Shao Wei wrote something on the patch of dirt with his fingers. Only when it began to glow beneath his hand did she realize it was a symbol. As the symbol grew brighter and brighter, the demonic beasts hovering outside the Shield seem to get more agitated. As the frequency of their self-destructive bombing increased, the screams around them escalated also. The Shield itself, however, still did not show any hints of moving, much less breaking.
