Wild Crimson Rose: Beloved Handyman Princes Courtesan Wife - Chapter 415
Only when she felt the light had died down did Shen Tianyu open her eyes again.
She looked over at the patch of ground only to find Rong Jian was standing in the way.
‘Close.’ She thought since she wasn’t able to even see his face because he was practically hugging her. She instead opted to tap on his c.h.e.s.t to tell him to step away.
Feeling something touch his c.h.e.s.t lightly, Rong Jian looked down to see Shen Tianyu trying to take a peek behind him. He looked back and saw that the blinding light had faded and stepped out of her line of sight.
The patch of ground that had been shining so brightly was now the same dirt brown as its surroundings, as if it hadn’t just caused a disturbance throughout the whole cave. The corpses of demonic beasts at the foot of the Shield was piled up to an a.d.u.l.t’s midsection. The ones that were still able to move seemed to have calmed down now and went back to buzzing around the Shield.
“What in the three worlds just happened?” Shen Tinyu asked no one in particular. She wanted to step up and have a look but was grabbed by Rong Jian.
“The seal has been removed.” Shao Wei answered, stepping back to the patch of ground from afar. He kneeled down and dusted the patch of unmarked dirt.
‘I’m surprised he even remembered where it was.’ Shen Tianyu thought it would be hard to identify the spot since the symbol had disappeared during the chaos.
A few seconds of dusting revealed a stone plate the size of one’s hand in the ground. Instead of trying to take it out, Shao Wei pushed the far side of the plate.
‘So it was a box of some sort? I thought it was a plate or something.’ Shen Tianyu tilted her head a bit, her wrist still gripped by her partner.
The pushing of the lid caused the front of it to lift up, revealing the space within the metal box. Still putting pressure on the rear of the lid, Shao Wei took something out of the box. Only when he retrieved whatever was inside did he lift his hand and the lid fell back down with a metallic clank.
What Shen Tianyu saw in his hand was another box, this one made with wood but with more exquisite carvings than the plain metal box. There were leaves and branches all over the wooden box.
Shao Wei straightforwardly opened the box without even bothering to admire the craftsmanship of it, removing a short, glowing stick from it. He made an expression like he wanted to throw the box away, now deeming it as useless, but thought better of it since it was a relic from the Monument owner in the end.
The stick wasn’t glowing as bright as when the seal for it’s hiding place was removed but a cold, dim glow. If necessary, it could be used as a light source, though it wouldn’t be even half as effective as Light talismans. There were small signs carved into the stick, though Shen Tianyu was too far away to clearly make them out. One end of the stick ended in a rounded tip while the other was pointed.
‘It looks like a pencil… Is it a pencil for drawing Talismans and Formations?’ Shen Tianyu had seen similar tools before, being the only disciple of her Master and the heir of Yaodu, but she had never seen something like that before. The ones she sometimes saw was much more normal, they didn’t have the glow nor the patterns on them.
Shao Wei walked back to the platform and drew some more symbols in it with the pencil. The Ancient Script on the platform began glowing, just like the seal from before.
‘Aaaand here we go again.’ Shen Tianyu thought as she closed her eyes once again to block out the harsh light.
This time, the demonic beasts outside didn’t go into a frenzy, as if awaiting something, and the light was brighter and lasted longer than before.
When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in the same position as before too. After having her line of view restored, Shen Tianyu could see a set of large wrought iron gates on the other end of the cave, to the right of where they entered. There were nails sticking out of the gates in an orderly manner with two metal knockers in the middle, one for each gate. It was surprisingly plain in design compared to the other things they found from the owner of the Monument.
“We’re going to have to rush over there but… how do you even open that thing?” The gate was outside their protective bubble so they’d have to take it down if they wanted to reach it.
The bigger concern for Shen Tianyu, though, was that the entire gate was the height of the cave, which was three zhang1 high. Even if it was the middle, no person was able to reach the knockers. And there was no other visible way to open the gate except them.
Of course, the ones with higher cultivation levels could just fly but… it would be hard for even two people to pull open those gates. And with the amount of mechanisms they found already, Shen Tianyu doubted it would be that easy or simple.
“It’s not controlled by human hands.” Shao Wei replied, holding the pencil he found up high.
“Are you sure?” Shen Tianyu raised her eyebrows.
“It says how to open it here.” Shao Wei pointed to a point in the Ancient Script of the platform he was standing on.
Shen Tianyu narrowed her eyes at it, remembering she hadn’t seen those symbols in that order in that place when she took a look before.
“After it was unlocked, the Ancient Script changed.” Shao Wei answered her question before she even opened her mouth.
“Ah… is that so? Well, you’re the best out of us in terms of Ancient Script so I’ll just leave all this stuff to you. Make sure you do well, okay?” Shen Tianyu accepted his explanation without any hesitation and threw the remaining work onto him. She wasn’t trained in Ancient Script so she would be useless anyways. 32.81 feet or 10 meters
