Wild Crimson Rose: Beloved Handyman Princes Courtesan Wife - Chapter 416
“Ah… is that so? Well, you’re the best out of us in terms of Ancient Script so I’ll just leave all this stuff to you. Make sure you do well, okay?” Shen Tianyu accepted his explanation without any hesitation and threw the remaining work onto him. She wasn’t trained in Ancient Script so she would be useless anyways.
Shao Wei nodded and everyone got ready to get into formation. Since Rong Jian’s subordinates consisted of more pure martial arts cultivators, they enveloped the Yaodu memebers. Shen Tianyu and Rong Jian were in the middle, while Shao Wei was slightly up front to better gain access to the gate when they get to it.
The elder who had been maintaining the Shield took it down when he saw that everyone was ready. Before the particles of spiritual energy even touched the floor, the demonic beasts that had been circling them zoomed towards them at top speed.
Thankfully everyone was prepared and the men in black immediately swung their blades. They protected the sides with support from Yaodu members while the ones closer to the center were in charge of the air above them.
They hacked and slashed while the ones in the middle threw other weaponry. Daggers, needles, arrows, and sickles flew through the air, each one striking their target. With each squelch of metal piercing flesh, another winged corpse fell onto the ground and was trampled underfoot or smacked to land elsewhere in the cave. The new recruits may be new but their skill was enough to keep them alive, and with their seniors looking after them, they managed to get through without much problem.
There weren’t as many demonic beasts as before since some of them died from bombardment but they still outnumbered the living cultivators that still had control over their own bodies. The number of demonic beasts dwindled as they slowly trudged forward, step by step.
Soon, cultivators also joined the battle. The one that had become hosts of the Parasitic Bees also swung their blades at Shen Tianyu and them. However, the technique was horribly unrefined. The Parasitic Bees may have control over the bodies but the one that remember show to move their body as a martial artist should, is the soul, which had not been affected yet. Though controlling the brain can make the bodies move, they were no different than training dummies that could attack.
The only reason that cultivators fell to hosts of Parasitic Bees are because of two reasons only. First, the Parasitic Bee had gained full control of the body and can move it almost as fluid as the person before they were attached to. Second, the opposing cultivators wavered or had a weak heart. Because being controlled by a Parasitic Bee didn’t mean the person was dead, plenty of cultivators still considered the person a “living entity” that could still be saved. Instead of directly cutting down the host, they exhaust themselves by trying to find a way to detach the Parasitic Bees. This is even more so for those that personally knew the host from before. Hence, the Parasitic Bees take advantage of this and kills them after they have exhausted themselves and unwilling to land the final blow.
And thankfully, none of them knew any of the other groups that were at the Monument. Since the hosts were new and still had some fight left in them, the first reason was mute. The second reason also didn’t apply to them because none of them had been attacked by the demonic beasts, thanks to Shen Tianyu’s quick thinking and preparedness. As for “what if”s… the answer will soon emerge by itself.
Shao Wei also gave some help by waving his sword to fend off some of the demonic beasts but his main focus was on the gate. Shen Tianyu held back on her bombs since there were too many people around her, she was afraid the shrapnel might hurt one of their own. Fortunately, she had a large arsenal of other aerial weapons, including a crossbow and several quivers of poisoned arrows, a pile of throwing daggers and knives, and throwing stars dipped in deadly poison. Rong Jian, for his part, didn’t seem to break a sweat slicing them in half in midair, despite having his spiritual energy depleted. No one dared to fly up for fear of being surrounded by the demonic beasts in the air. It was safest to stay in their plate-like formation, where they don’t need to worry about below.
After a seemingly long time of cutting down demonic beasts and possessed cultivators, the group finally reached the giant gate. When the fist person touched the gate and shouted back, Rong Jian immediately poured his spiritual energy into the Shield talisman in his other hand. The Shield expanded, pushing the demonic beasts away from them and became an icy blue bubble. The remaining demonic beasts and possessed cultivators banged on the Shield to no avail.
Without another word, Shao Wei pushed his way to the front. The others did their best to make a path for him in this tight space. Shen Tianyu didn’t understand Ancient Script so she didn’t know how to open the gate, she could only sit back and watch.
Shao Wei took out the pencil that he had gotten from the platform and began writing on the highest point of the gates he could reach. Glowing golden letters trailed the pencil as his hand steadily brushed against the metal. Some were geometrical with sharp edges while others were smooth and curvy. That was all Shen Tianyu was able to make out of them. She could only differentiate that the letters were different but could not put a meaning to them.
More and more lines of golden letters appeared on the surface of the metal, as if seared onto it, not fading in the slightest. Shao Wei began crouching, then squatting the kneeling on the bloody ground. Just when Shen Tianyu thought he had run out of room, he stood up and dusted his robes, the bloodstains were already soaked into the cloth so there was no way to get it out in the Monument, though. He tucked the slightly glowing pencil into his robes and announced to the others that he was done.
