Wild Crimson Rose: Beloved Handyman Princes Courtesan Wife - Chapter 418
Though it was not enough to cripple them and make them unable to proceed, they were aware they couldn’t win against the combination of Shen Tianyu and Rong Jian’s group.
No one that followed Shen Tianyu or Rong Jian bothered to give the others a single glance and followed their young master and miss onwards. There was no light source beyond the metal gates so they couldn’t see what was around them or any dangers present.
“It’s too dark to see shit.” Someone grumbled in disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e.
“Can we use a Light Talisman?” A younger member asked the ones in charge.
“It’s too dangerous to proceed onward without the ability to see but there might be dangers within that are attracted to light sources, hence why the place is completely devoid of light.” Shen Tianyu divulged her thoughts. They had yet to proceed beyond the entrance of the gates, seeing the endless pit of darkness ahead of them. At least the cave behind them still had some sprinkles of light to help them see.
“What the Young Miss said is indeed true and it would be too taxing to keep rotating on Shield talismans.” Yun Tianhao agreed.
Discussion ensued as the Yaodu group tried to come up with a solution for the problem at hand. There were those that have honed their battle instincts, like Shen Tianyu, who could sense danger even in the dark. However, they didn’t know how long they would have to go without a light source and the state of constantly being aware of one’s surroundings was taxing and stressful for the individual. Not to mention, they would also have to protect the junior members if anything really came. There was also the problem of friendly fire in the dark.
On the other hand, there were only a limited number of Shield talismans, in case there was danger, and a few were already used up in the cave. Not to mention, there were only a handful of people with them that can masterfully control the Shield of a Shield talisman. The talisman itself isn’t level-locked and can be used by anyone that can harness spiritual energy but it’s usually used as a stop-gap or time buying item for lower-level cultivators. This is because to maintain a Shield for a prolonged period required immense amounts of spiritual energy. In addition, most people’s Shields after being conjured are stationary. It was rare to find someone like Rong Jian, who was masterful enough to contract or expand the Shield at a moment’s notice.
They settled on using a Light talisman to help them see ahead but that was it. The field of vision would be limited but at least they’ll be able to see.
Shen Tianyu took one out and gave it over to Yun Tianhao, who would be walking at the front. Unlike her and Rong Jian, he wasn’t very skilled at using the Shield talisman so his spiritual energy was relatively still full. The other elders needed to save their strength in case there was an emergency.
“Hey, what about us!” A high-pitched voice yelled for them from the cave.
Shen Tianyu turned back to find the other unaffiliated groups standing just outside the metal gates. Some were still rummaging through their fallen comrade’s bodies to see if there was anything still of use. Either way, most organizations wouldn’t be so free with talismans as they did. Even if they were given talismans, it wouldn’t be even half the amount that Shen Tianyu has in her space. So, obviosuly, they would try to save them as log as they could. There was also the possibility that they were only given combat and defense oriented talismans so they wouldn’t have something like a Light talisman.
“Yes? What about you?” She replied back without any lilt in her voice.
‘We don’t know any of you, why should we help and take care of you? Ascendant Monuments are all about competition. You guys should be thankful we didn’t kill off every single one of you in the chaos. Rong Jian and I are married so our cooperation is different, for now.’ She can’t be sure there won’t be some conflicts over the loot later, even if not between themselves then between their subordinates. But at the very least, their cooperation right now was not as tentative as the alliances that the other organizations could make.
“Are you even human?! We just went through such a traumatizing event but you won’t even lend us a hand! We all could at least be said to have went through life and death together!” The girl stomped her feet like someone’s lover throwing a tantrum.
‘Did she think that was supposed to be cute? I sure don’t, I just see it as annoying.’ Shen Tianyu rolled her eyes.
“If being human means I am obligated to help every single person I cross paths with then no, and I have no d.e.s.i.r.e to be human. And you say ‘went through life and death’ but excuse me, how many people did you lose? We didn’t lose a single one. Also, the ones who unlocked the platform and opened the gates was one of our own people, you all were just cowering in your little corners like rats after the demonic beasts came out. You should be grateful we didn’t try to get rid of our competitors but now you even want to piggyback off of us like a parasite? Fat chance. If you don’t think you can go further, then either find a way to leave or wait here patiently until we clear the ruins. If you want to go further in, then find a way to proceed yourself. Cultivators aren’t just supposed to sit in a fancy room and drink high-class tea all day. The cultivators that have never truly encountered or been in danger are nothing more than fakes.” Shen Tianyu unfolded her crossed arms and turned around, not bothering to hear the other’s response.
