Wild Crimson Rose: Beloved Handyman Princes Courtesan Wife - Chapter 425
Old Qi flung Yi Weixing away, getting rid of the broadsword locking his claws and pounced after her, hoping to get at her while she was ungrounded. Yi Weixing flew backwards in the air but didn’t show any signs of panic.
Her biceps bulged as her grip on her broadsword tightened and she swung it at the approaching demonic beast in midair.
Old Qi was covered its whole body in spiritual power so even if someone were to aim for its head, it would be hard to penetrate skin. Despite this fact, all living beings had instincts. When the Tyrannical Sky Tiger saw the blade coming at its head, it reflexively faltered and tried to block the attack.
This moment of hesitation gave Yi Weixing enough time to spin his body and land on the rocky walls with her feet. Using the force of her flying backwards before it had dissipated, she lunged at the demonic beast again from her wall platform.
Realizing it had just been outplayed by a human, the Tyrannical Sky Tiger gave an angry roar and met Yi Weixing’s lunging attack.
Tao Zhouqi, on the other hand, was hammering away at the demonic beast and chasing after it like an owner chasing after a disobedient dog. However, the Tyrannical Sky Tiger didn’t pay him any attention at all as if he were no more than a buzzing fly. Seeing that not only did his attacks not have any effect, it couldn’t even divert the demonic beast’s attention, Tao Zhouqi changed directions. He sped up and landed just behind Yi Weixing. Along with his partner, Tao Zhouqi dashed forward to meet the Tyrannical Sky Tiger head on.
Seeing the two humans coming at itself, Old Qi didn’t show any signs of hesitation or fear. With its three legs on the ground, it swung one of its claws at the incoming duo.
As Yi Weixing took off first, he blocked the claws again with his broadsword. Tao Zhouqi emerged from behind Yi Weixing and slashed both his swords at the demonic beast in a cross slash.
Old Qi roared with an open mouth, pushing Yi Weixing while standing for the incoming attack. As the two swords met with the invisible armor of spiritual energy on Old Qi’s body, his mouth clamped down.
As Tao Zhouqi had attacked head on, his swords would inevitably come in contact with Old Qi’s gaping maw. However, he continued onwards without any change in his expression.
The Tyrannical Sky Tiger had probably wanted to trap at least one of the swords and maybe even break it with its teeth. Humans were inherently weaker than demonic beasts after all and their only way of fighting were weapons like swords. But it didn’t expect this little human to not falter at all and even gained momentum. Although the armor made of spiritual energy is strong, it only covered the demonic beast and did not line it’s mouth. It’s mouth was the only accessible place that could cause it injury. Realizing that the young human was more determined than he thought, Old Qi quickly shut his jaws, bearing only its teeth.
Just in time, the swords clanged against the demonic beast’s teeth and bounced back. Tao Zhouqi furrowed his brows in frustration as his feet touched the ground and charged again.
With the Tyrannical Sky Tiger pushing against him and trying to pin him down, Yi Weixing couldn’t move from his position, only able to guard himself with his broadsword.
Eve infused with his ow spiritual power, Tao Zhouqi’s swords still could not cut through the spiritual energy armor of the Tyrannical Sky Tiger. The best it could do was not immediately bouncing off the armor but it never made any noticeable dents. Tao Zhouqi’s swords were jian, which specialized in slashing and cutting. Whereas the spiritual energy armor of the Tyrannical Sky Tiger was like the skin of the Nemean Lion1, impervious to all attacks. Yi Weixing’s broadsword which focused more on blunt force was appropriate in dealing with the armor but he was being suppressed and unable to move.
Of course, this did not mean it was impossible for anyone not possessing a blunt force weapon to defeat a Tyrannical Sky Tiger but it was indeed immensely difficult. Especially so against this that is probably at least a few hundred but who-knows-exactly-how-many years old. It’s cultivation was too high for its armor to be cracked even with Shen Tianyu’s skill.
Even so, they were only entertaining the demonic beasts, not actually fighting them to the death. Even the demonic beasts probably did not expect the humans to win in this. And since it was just entertainment, it was better to reserve the resources of the group until more dire circ.u.mstances later.
Seeing that his partner wasn’t getting any leeway, Yi Weixing grunted. Seeming to have gotten a signal of some sorts or got invigorated out of frustration, Tao Zhouqi increased the frequency of his attacks on the demonic beast, pouring even more spiritual power into the swords. The flashing silver made constant clanging noises as it repeatedly bounced off its target.
The Tyrannical Sky Tiger merely looked down at the human in amus.e.m.e.nt, confident that he could not get through its armor and was only wasting stamina.
Seeing that the Tyrannical Sky Tiger’s attention was diverted, albeit only a little, Yi Weixing gritted his teeth. With a loud yell, he pushed against his broadsword and threw off the claw that had been pressing him down.
Noticing the action, Old Qi looked over reflexively at where he had been pinning Yi Weixing down only to find the space below its claws empty.
Yi Weixing dashed forward with his body against the ground, causing him to temporarily be out of sight of the tall demonic beast. He swung his broadsword in front of him, hitting the side of the Tyrannical Sky Tiger. He continued his barrage of attack, swinging his broadsword at the armor again and again.
