Wild Crimson Rose: Beloved Handyman Princes Courtesan Wife - Chapter 431
She’d rather not waste money and resources on it. Giving them a concussion was also out of the question as it had the same fundamental problem as those “memory erasing” mechanics. What if they somehow regained their memory one day? No one actually knew the principle behind how those things worked, just that they did. What if it wasn’t “memory erasure” but “memory storage”?
Not to mention, they would have been gone from their original residence for a while to get initiated into Yaodu, what if the neighbors or family members asked? What excuse could they, Yaodu, give for that? It was better not to gamble the lives of a hundred or so people on such questionable methods. In any case, the easiest way was to just kill them to protect the headquarters. It wouldn’t do for them to hold a grudge after getting kicked out and lead some enemies into the headquarters to attack them. Even if they didn’t drink Aunt Meng’s soup1 after death, they wouldn’t be able to communicate with living humans that allowed that degree of coordination.
Those who harbored sinister intentions towards the demonic beasts were dealt with in an even more unfortunate way. Shen Tianyu may be young and heartless but she wasn’t without emotions. What she promised, she will throw her life away to carry out if need be. Those that crossed her bottom line are considered enemies that she need not show mercy on.
Others leaned on the walls while others studied the door as they took a break. As they did, they could feel a mass of human presences approaching them. The ones close to the corridor were on high alert but Shen Tianyu beckoned them over and told them to calm down.
The sound of the steps were not abnormal so it was unlikely that they were being controlled. The Ruins would also not have been able to keep live humans in it for so long. The only other people here were the cultivators they had left behind back at the cave with the Face-Devouring Mosquitoes.
Indeed, the ones to appear haggardly in the light of the surrounding talismans were the very cultivators who had entered the Ascendant Monument full of hope and greed. Now, their clothes were either torn or dirt, displaying bloody gashes or wrapped limbs. Their faces were gaunt and eyes sunken as if they had aged twenty years in the span of a few shichen.
Shen Tianyu wasn’t sure exactly how long they’ve been in here since Ascendant Monuments are essentially larger pocket dimensions and time might not necessarily run the same as the outside. Even so, she was sure everyone had only spent two days in here at most.
‘This is what happens when you’re too arrogant and don’t prepare enough. Also, when you have a pig teammate that doesn’t know how dangerous these places can be and recklessly touches things.’ Despite their appearance, Shen Tianyu held no sympathy for them.
To each their own is the name of the game and its not like she knew any of them so why should she? Trying to be a saint would only make it harder for herself in the future, only idiots would do that.
“Who are these humans? They look to be in quite the bad shape.” The female head of the Two-Headed Bone Snake looked on in concern.
“They’re the ones who came into the Ascendant Monument with us. We’re not familiar with each other though.” Shen Tianyu answered good-naturedly.
“Hmph, so you mean to say these third-rate ragtags had the nerve to covet out former Master’s belongings? Presumptuous.” Old Qi huffed, still rolling its ball between its paws, making quite a… striking sight.
“My, it’s quite hard to believe you both came at the the same time.” Old Gu meant to make a comparison between the states of the two groups. One was practically unblemished and still brimming with energy while the other looked like they had been to the wastelands and barely survived.
“Well, we were just lucky enough not to encounter a pig teammate.” She replied nonchalantly.
“That’s not true! We were able to avoid most of the trouble caused by that woman because of Miss’s attentiveness and quick thinking!” One of her subordinates intervened themselves in the conversation. Shen Tianyu merely gave a small smile in return.
Seeing them having such an easygoing time, the faces of the other group of cultivators grew even more ugly. Seeing that something was up, the male head of the Two-Headed Bone Snake whispered to its partner who then turned its attention away from them.
“To think you had demonic beasts this entire time and never took them out… you people are really evil!” A hobbling male cultivator shouted at them, apparently unable to hold back.
“How could you just let all those people die right in front of you and not do anything!” A female disciple joined and soon a cacophony of complaints and yells could be heard before the iron gate.
“What’s wrong with these people, have they gone crazy? Just look at these demonic beasts and how powerful they are, what makes them think we could have subdued and brought them here like that? You can’t even find Tyrannical Sky Tigers in the wild anymore!” One of Yaodu’s members raged at them but his voice was drowned out in the din of protests.
“What else could be wrong? It’s just not wanting to see others live well when they themselves haven’t got it easy. We’re basically in a prison of sorts, other than us and each other, who else can they release the pent-up frustrations and anger on? There’s no point trying to reason with them, they’re doing this from a purely emotional standpoint. Not only will they not listen to reason, they’ll twist your logic to fit theirs until its bent completely out of shape.” Shen Tianyu had thrown a communication talisman to the others and spoke through it in her usual calm voice. Shouting over their complaints to reach her people will just agitate them even more and there’s no point straining her throat for something like that. Or Old Lady Meng’s soup. In Chinese mythology, people are supposed to drink this soup that makes them forget their current lives before they can get reincarnated.
