Wild Crimson Rose: Beloved Handyman Princes Courtesan Wife - Chapter 432
“What else could be wrong? It’s just not wanting to see others live well when they themselves haven’t got it easy. We’re basically in a prison of sorts, other than us and each other, who else can they release the pent-up frustrations and anger on? There’s no point trying to reason with them, they’re doing this from a purely emotional standpoint. Not only will they not listen to reason, they’ll twist your logic to fit theirs until its bent completely out of shape.” Shen Tianyu had thrown a communication talisman to the others and spoke through it in her usual calm voice. Shouting over their complaints to reach her people will just agitate them even more and there’s no point straining her throat for something like that.
Despite their courage to speak up, though. Not a single one of those cultivators dared to step forward, much less grab anyone’s collar. The difference in their states were as clear as day. If they really tried to pick a fight, they knew they wouldn’t be getting out of this alive. Right now, even if they were on bad terms with this strangely close group, as long as they were alive, they can make up for it in the coming days. Also, their goal of coming here, ultimately, was to grab some treasures from the one who made the Ascendant Monument. As long as they were alive, they can grab a few scraps here and there when the other group wasn’t looking or even pick up some stuff they didn’t want. It might be a bit disgraceful but at least they wouldn’t go back empty-handed.
Basically put, their bark was louder than their bite.
“They are quite noisy though… Meat shields can also be dead people.” Shen Tianyu muttered to herself with furrowed brows.
Despite the din of noise, Rong Jian seemed to have heard her as he stood up and faced the group of people silently. Seeing one of the couple in the center move, who were obviously being protected by the formation of the subordinates, the others got cold feet and immediately shut up.
Regardless, Rong Jian raised his hand as a signal. The people completely covered in black all stiffened and got into a battle stance. Without a word, he swung his hand down and the people in black charged forward into the swarm of people.
Shen Tianyu watched on as the group of annoyances began screaming their heads off and shielding themselves with whatever was within their reach. Be it be their weapons, their own arms, or… their own brothers and sisters that they had just shown off such care for. Blood splattered every which way all over the cave floor.
The other Yaodu members were also looking on with apathetic expressions. They also did not have very much of a good feeling towards these “righteous” sects. Yaodu was originally a place for outcasts, those shunned by society or outright rejected by them. Some simply had no place to go while others were framed for crimes they did not commit and got chased out. So, even new members or children of members were more aware than most about the matters that could not see the light that these “righteous” sects were involved in. Of course, not all of them are like that, and more often than not, those sects were created with a good purpose in mind but had gone astray over the hundreds of years and thousands of generations it had gone through. The more clear-headed ones took a neutral-negative stance with them while the more hot-blooded ones just outright hate them.
In the entire group, only the female head of the Two-Headed Bone Snake showed some concern for the group of troublemakers. Even the Abyssal Crow didn’t bother looking at them, much less the Tyrannical Sky Tiger. However, it wasn’t like the Two-Headed Bone Snake didn’t understand the enticement that was Ascendant Monuments. It might not necessarily agree with the way things were being handled but it didn’t b.u.t.t in either. Human conflicts should be resolved by themselves.
After about half of the troublemakers had been silenced and laid in a pool of blood did Shen Tianyu began to move. She opened her lips and called out to Rong Jian, without raising her voice.
“Ah-Jian, you can stop now.”
Rong Jian immediately raised his hands with his palm facing outward and grunted. The subordinates in black all stopped, with some looking at him to see what he wanted to say while others already guessed and let go of their target.
She then turned to the remaining cultivators that managed to escape the bloodshed with whatever means they had and smiled.
“Now then, if you can promise to be quiet and stop grating my ears, I’ll let you all go.” She, who didn’t move a single muscle from her seat on the rock with her cheek still in her hands, said.
‘Demoness. Demoness!’ Their eyes all seemed to say as they looked at her with mixed expressions of horror and fear. Some held a hateful glint in their eyes but Shen Tianyu chose to ignore them.
“Well?” Shen Tianyu tilted ehr head with a slight frown in her brows and Rong Jian’s arm twitched, as if itching to start the slaughter again at a single signal.
“We promise, we promise! We promise we won’t yell or make any noise anymore! Please, let us go! We were ignorant and foolish, please forgive us!” One of the men yelled desperate to escape a deadly fate. The rest also followed suite and some even kowtowed on the bloody floor. Shen Tianyu thought that those who held a hateful glint in their eyes would persevere but even they bent under the difference in power and apologized. Though, they were adamant about not bowing or kowtowing but to Shen Tianyu, it didn’t matter.
She waved them off, signaling they were free to go and Rong Jian made a hand signal at his subordinates. The men in dark clothing withdrew from the now miniscule crowd of people and went back to their original positions.
“You guys can pick up whatever memorials or useful items form the bodies of your comrades if you want. We won’t be carrying their bodies going forward but if you want to, do it yourself and don’t ask for assistance.” Shen Tianyu told them as Rong Jian settled down again beside her.
