Wild Crimson Rose: Beloved Handyman Princes Courtesan Wife - Chapter 433
“You guys can pick up whatever memorials or useful items form the bodies of your comrades if you want. We won’t be carrying their bodies going forward but if you want to, do it yourself and don’t ask for assistance.” Shen Tianyu told them as Rong Jian settled down again beside her.
None of them were actually stupid enough to carry bodies through an Ascendant Monument, even if it has been relatively uneventful compared to the stories of others. Some merely grabbed the Cosmo Pouch of their comrades while the more sentimental ones cut off a piece of their clothing or wrapped up a few strands of hair.
Shen Tianyu and the rest didn’t bother with them anymore either as they continued to chat and replenish their energy. When everyone seemed ready to go again, Shen Tianyu stood up.
“Should we let Ah-Jian have the honor of opening the door to our next destination?” She smirked as she looked at her partner.
“Okay.” He replied with a simple one-word answer.
Shen Tianyu could see his thoughts all over his face ‘As a husband, I must naturally charge at the head’. Shen Tianyu’s lips twitched and she dropped her playful smile as Rong Jian cleaned up and folded the handkerchief again.
“Nevermind. I’ll do it.” She commented as she walked forward to stand in front of the door.
Others could not see it but Rong Jian’s actions sped up and he calmly hurried to stand beside her.
“I’ll do it.” He responded, reaching out his hands.
“Fine then. Let’s just both do it.” Shen Tianyu eaily compromised. They had spent enough time here, no use wasting more time to argue about who was going to open a stupid door.
Rong Jian didn’t reject this time and they both pressed their hands to the cool metal. Using the strength in their bodies, they pushed against the door.
Creeeeaaaaaak
The door g.r.o.a.n.e.d loudly under their weight but barely opened a crack.
“Hm… This door seems to have fallen into disrepair over the years. The hinges might be rusted.” Shen Tianyu looked around the edges of the door as she continued to push. The doors didn’t feel heavy per se, it just seemed… clunky or stuck.
They continued t push until there was enough of a gap for two people to go through. Shen Tianyu let out a breath as she let go of the door, peering into the other side.
Just like the cave currently being lit by Lighting Talismans, the other side of the door was also pitch dark. She couldn’t see anything at all.
“Hey, do you guys know what’s in there?” She turned around asked the demonic beasts.
“I’m sorry, dear but I’m afraid we don’t.” Old Gu replied apologetically.
“We’ve been staying in here since this place was created so we don’t know what the other parts of the Monument holds.” Old Qi elaborated.
“Do you want us to go take a look?” The female head of the Two-Headed Bone Snake offered.
“That would be convenient. Uhm… you still haven’t given us a name to call you two by, though.” Shen Tianyu finally commented on not knowing th eTwo-Headed Bone Snake’s names.
“Oh my! That seems to be the case!” The female head wiggled her head in shock.
“Master used to call me Xiao Qing. This here is Xiao Hai.” The head pointed to the other head who was just lazily standing up.
“Lady Qing and Lord Hai, is it?” Shen Tianyu acknowledged their names.
“That’s right, I’m Lord Hai! Hahahaha!” The male head suddenly burst into laughter and tried to stand up straighter.
“What are you being crazy about now? Just shut up and follow everyone else.” Old Qing scolded her… twin? and knocked into him.
“Oof. That hurts. It’s just been a long time since I was called with any form of respect, you know.” He mumbled as he came down from his momentary high.
“Then, we’ll be going! Move out of the way, you two!” Old Qing waved their tail excitedly. If she was living, there would probably be gusts of air coming from her nose with how determined she looked.
Shen Tianyu looked over to see Rong Jian still standing in front of the other door, though his hands wereby his side.
“Alright. Thank you in advance.” Shen Tianyu moved away from the door and Rong Jian mirrored her.
With the space near the entrance cleared, the Two-Headed Bone Snake slithered to the gap pushed open by them and, with some difficulty, wiggled through with it’s two large heads. The rest of their body easily followed.
Everyone waited as they listened to the slithering of the demonic beast getting further and further away.
After a while, the Two-Headed Bone Snake returned and Old Qing poked her head through the gap in the door.
“I don’t see any traps or anything here but we’re sensing a large amount of small presences. We’re not sure what they are but its better to keep the environment as is. Since they haven’t come out when we were slithering about.” Old Qing advised.
“Alright. We’ll reduce the amount of Lighting Talismans. I can’t even see past the door so we’ll still need some Lighting Talismans to get through.” Shen Tianyu motioned to her people and they all retrieved their spiritual energy from the Lighting Talismans. As they lost their source of energy, the Lighting talismans burned a dull orange until not even ashes remained.
Rong Jian also retrieved his spiritual power from a few of the talismans he was feeding, leaving only enough to light up their immediate surroundings.
“Everyone get in line. My people behind me and Ah-Jian’s subordinates behind him. Make sure to alternate between experienced members and newbies in the line. The Elders will either guard from the front, middle, or the end. Take your pick.” She gave out this order to their people and allies. Then, as if she suddenly remembered something, she addressed the refugee cultivators.
“The others can follow behind. Or not, if you want to stay here instead. Just don’t interfere with our operations. If you try to harm any of our people, then we’ll just cut you down.”
