Wild Crimson Rose: Beloved Handyman Princes Courtesan Wife - Chapter 436
“No. Let’s switch it up a bit. Rong Jian’s subordinates are more accustomed to fighting people. Demonic beasts are our specialty, though I’m not sure if that’ll be of much help. But we’ll probably have a better chance than them. We’ll guard the outside this time. Have some Fire Talismans ready. If you don’t have any, pick some up from whoever near you has one.” Shen Tianyu organized her thought and gave out some orders.
The group began to shuffle within her Shield. The ones that had Fire Talismans brought them out while the ones that didn’t went to the nearest holder to acquire some. The newbies were naturally shuffled inwards alongside the soldiers in black. The rest surrounded them like a flaming wall. Once Shen Tianyu made sure everyone was ready, she took her Shield down and they began to move forward in the abyssal darkness.
The human parasites panicked when they were being left behind in the preparations and some tried to squeeze through to the inner parts but was bounced back. Though there were some newbies, everyone recognized each other’s faces and Rong Jian’s subordinates were easily identifiable. Besides that, unlike the other humans, Yaodu’s members were relatively calm. Now that they were moving, the human parasites could only trail behind and hope to pick up a few crumbs of protection.
The group had no light with them, even the Light Talismans were snuffed out, afraid that it would be noticed by the Hell Butterflies. They had no direction on where to go except away from the screams and faint fluttering of wings. The three demonic beasts followed them cautiously while chattering away with their telepathy.
“See, this is what’s good about being all bones, and you guys were always making fun of me! Even if there’s light, those things won’t be able to get anything out of me!” Old Hai harrumphed triumphantly.
“And we don’t need to eat or rest either! Isn’t that convenient?” Old Qing chimed in happily.
“But that also means you won’t be able to taste all he delicious food out in the world. Despite their arrogance, humans make quite the delectable dishes.” Old Gu countered calmly atop Old Qi’s head.
“And you won’t ever have fluffy, lovable fur like me.” Old Qi’s voice was laced with pride and smugness. Shen Tianyu could practically see him lifting his head with a smug expression despite the pitch black surroundings.
“They’re noisy.” Rong Jian’s voice beside her was laced with disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e.
“Can the demonic beasts quiet down a bit, please? We’re trying to concentrate and find a way out.” Shen Tianyu whisper-yelled in no direction in particular.
“Okay, okay. How about we scout ahead and see if there’s any door or cave or something?” Xiao Qing offered.
“Any kind of mechanism would do too. There was always one in the places we passed through before. You’re former Master must really love them.” Shen Tianyu replied gratefully.
“Our former Master didn’t necessarily study mechanisms in particular but was quite skilled at them. At least, I never saw him seriously studying them like the other humans that claimed to have mastered the art.” Old Gu responded to her remark as the Two-Headed Bone Snake slithered away.
“He must be quite talented then, perhaps even a genius.” They continued to walk forward as a group, albeit at a slower pace than they otherwise could have. It would be troublesome if they bumped into a wall or something. And it was completely black all around, they were indeed getting further from the screams but they had no way of knowing which direction they were going in. They could be going in circles for all they knew.
“Master was indeed quite smart. He liked making all kinds of trinkets just like you do, too. Unfortunately… he seemed to have a penchant for insects and the like. Because of that, a lot of humans disliked him and condemned him, calling him an ‘incarnation of evil’ or the like.” Old Qi sighed in reminiscence.
“Well, did you like that side of him?” Shen Tianyyu asked.
“Mm… Since I have flesh and blood… I do dislike insects and those things but Master liked them so… I’ve longed come to terms with it.” Old Qi hesitated but finally answered.
“I don’t particularly like insects either. I think most people don’t. They can be small but deadly, especially demonic beasts. Precisely because they are harder to see and catch, or counter, unlike lions or tigers, humans find them bothersome or fearsome. A lot of them also have poisonous properties, which can be seen as something immoral to the humans that always spout nonsense about fighting fair and square with blades and bodies alone and the like. Perhaps both of that combined naturally makes anything and anyone associated with insects evil.” Shen Tianyu tried her best to analyze the situation the Tyrannical Sky Tiger had told her.
‘Also, normal insects are perceived as dirty because of all the diseases and viruses they can carry. A lot of pandemic in human history were initially caused by such things being carried over by insects and infecting and animal or human. Well, that’s the history that I’ve learned on Earth but I theorize it should be a similar case here as well.’ Shen Tianyu only knew the names of the continents and places but has never stumbled upon the name of the world itself. Earth was known as Earth, but here, every kingdom seemed to have a different name for the world and some don’t even have a name for it. Because of the nonuniformity of the name, Shen Tianyu has decided to keep the world nameless for now.
“I agree with the young girl. Perhaps that was so.” Old Gu voiced its opinion on the matter.
“If that’s the case, then why did Master like insects so much?” Old Qi questioned.
“Well, I said most. There are some humans that are fascinated by the positive aspects of insect, such as pollination and survival tactics. Besides, there’s a general consensus that geniuses are always eccentric. Or crazy.” Shen Tianyu muttered the last part under her breath but Rong Jian could still pick it up.
