Without Me - Chapter 28 Confrontation With Li Yu Feng 2
At the moment their eyes met, bushy eyebrows of grandfather Li frowned with dissatisfaction over sharp watery eyes in a look of amazement, but in the next second his wrinkled face took on a stern and threatening expression, worthy of the Patriarch of the Li family. Dressed in expensive, brand’s suit, emitted the aura of an ancient aristocrat.
Li Ye Han cursed himself for not thinking to check beforehand, so he wouldn’t see his grandfather there today. He didn’t feel like the mood to deal with this old man.
Sighing internally, he tried to avoid his grandfather, but the old man, anticipating the intentions of his grandson, blocked his passage, resting hand on the door frame.
“Where do you think you’re going?” The voice of grandfather sounded harsh, very different than when he talked to Yao Xi.
Despite his old age, he did not lose his imperious tone. Contrary. Li Ye Han had the impression that the older the annoying old man is, the more he becomes firm and unbearable.
“And what do you think?” Li Ye Han straightened up and gave Li a threatening, long look. “I came to see my wife. Do you have a problem with that? Can you forbid me? ”
In fact, they were very similar to each other. Both equally stubborn and overbearing. Li Ye Han inherited his ruthless personality just after Li’s senior, who only showed his gentle and caring side at Yao Xi. Even his wife and children treated by him were severe.
Only Yao Xi had some strange, mysterious ability to relieve the despotic temperament of Li Yu Feng, spreading in his old heart a magical haze of deep feeling. Even he couldn’t understand why this little girl had such a great influence on him.
Perhaps subconsciously he wanted to somehow redeem his innumerable sins, which he committed throughout his long life? Li Yu Feng could not explain it. He simply did not want to show Yao Xi his second, cruel side, which in the years of his youth aroused fear among the underground world.
He could not disclose his dark secrets from the past to Yao Xi. He absolutely couldn’t.
“Your wife?” Li Yu Feng spat his hands in fists. ” Don’t make me laugh! That word in your mouth sounds almost like a curse. Where have you been all this time? Why then you didn’t come to your wife? ”
“I don’t have to explain anything to you,” Li Ye Han drawled through clenched teeth and squinting angrily. “You forced me, not even asking me for a sentence, so now don’t be surprised that I treat her like that! I never wanted to marry this woman. You forced me to do this and only you are responsible for what happened to her. ”
Li Yu Feng sucked in the air, as if someone had kicked him in the stomach. A dark vein appeared on his wrinkled forehead, pulsing dangerously.
“You cheeky brat!” Li Yu Feng exclaimed, losing his temper, and several nearby people caught their attention. “How dare you?! I did it because I hoped you would change. I wanted you to look after each other. I wanted you to not be lonely when I’m gone! I never thought that you could be so ruthless for someone who didn’t offend you! If I knew you would treat her that way, I would let you live alone until the end of your life. You don’t deserve someone as good as Yao Xi. ” The older man gasped loudly, his chest moving quickly as he tried to catch his breath.
“Who asked you for it? Do I look like someone who needs some useless woman whose sole purpose is to catch a rich husband to live in luxury? Do you think I could ever feel something to a trash like Yao Xi? I really cann’t understand what that seductive woman has done to make you worry about her so much. ”
Li Ye Han did not want to say all these words, but they flew out of his mouth before he could stop himself.
Seeing his grandfather’s wounded and dazed look, he immediately regretted that he had let his emotions go. Li Ye Han knew that his grandfather had a connection with this woman, which he would never understand, but he also knew perfectly well that their relationship was pure, without any sexual undertones.
Li Ye Han was also perfectly aware that he is very important to his grandfather and the old man only wants his happiness; especially after what happened to his brother seventeen years ago.
But it was too late for regret. He couldn’t undo his words, so he decided to keep his proud and arrogant attitude.
Grandfather Li was paralyzed, as if he could not understand if what he had heard was not only due to his aging hearing. He opened his mouth and closed it like a fish out of the water, wanting to catch the air.
Li Ye Han saw great pain and sadness in his grandfather’s watery eyes. He opened his mouth to say something, but he froze. He had to end this farce. If this marriage continues, no one will be happy. He wanted to spare his grandfather more suffering because he knew that he would never be able to give Yao Xi the kind of feeling that his grandfather had hoped for.
Finally, Li Yu Feng shook off his shock and hung his arms miserably, as if suddenly a huge weight had landed on his shoulders. Then he shook his head in resignation, giving the impression of being twenty years old in one minute.
He was completely unlike a confident and fearless young man who had awakened horror in the underworld years ago. Now he looked like an old broken oak that had lost its splendor, coming into contact with an unstoppable thunderbolt.
Li Ye Han looked away, unable to bear the view of his grandfather in such a state. It was the first time he had seen him so powerless. And Li Ye Han could not understand what Yao Xi had done to make Grandpa change so much for her. What drug she gave him that his grandfather’s personality had changed so dramatically. Li Ye Han didn’t remember that his grandfather would ever show so much affection to his wife and children.
When he looked back at the old man, he was already walking down the corridor towards the elevators, his hunched back giving off an aura of overwhelming loneliness and loss.
“It will be best,” Li Ye Han murmured, trying to convince himself that he had done the right thing.
He never wanted to marry Yao Xi, but grandfather insisted persistently. Li Ye Han had to categorically and bluntly express his opinion. He was tired now. He had too many of his own problems to deal with the strange old-man whims.
All the more, he didn’t want to have anything to do with Yao Xi.
Repeating himself that his grandfather will one day understand his decision, Li Ye Han opened the door and stepped through the VIP room where Yao Xi was staying.
