Without Me - Chapter 4 Divorce Part 2
Her words made the crowd fall silent. Li Ye Han’s hard lips seemed to quiver; he was also surprised. Nevertheless, he decided to remain silent and watch the woman in front of him.
But when after a few minutes she didn’t even look at him, he nodded to the judge, agreeing.
After both parties agreed to the divorce by mutual agreement, everything went smoothly.
They both signed the required documents and so returned to being strangers to each other. Although, in fact, even the marriage didn’t bring them closer together.
Li Ye Han was leaving early in the morning, coming back late at night, or not at all.
After more than three years of waiting, Yao Xi stopped waiting for him with dinner. He never ate what she cooked for him. As if he was afraid she would poison him. He just gave her a cold look before went upstairs and slammed the door of his bedroom.
She will never forget the scene she witnessed after more than three years of their marriage. Though she was aware that this man didn’t love her, seeing his caresses with another woman with her own eyes was beyond her strength.
She almost died because of it, when she ran out from his office, full of tears, straight under the wheels of a speeding car. She was in a coma for three months …
But did anyone know about it?
That’s when she stopped waiting. She gave up the remnants of hope that lay in her heart.
This sight made her aware that in the eyes of this man she was nothing. The same as in the eyes of all other people.
When, during those few moments when he looked at her, she saw nothing but contempt – she didn’t give up. She wanted so much intimacy and love that she deeply believed, that he would look at her with love one day.
But the sight of the man she loved with all her heart with another woman, smashed her hope like a crystal vase broken into thousands of pieces. It can’t be glued together.
Nevertheless, she didn’t ask for a divorce. Maybe she was attached to this man or was too naïve, still believing he would look at her? Or maybe because of his grandfather, who was the nicest person she’d ever met? It was Grandpa, who decided about their wedding. She felt grateful to him, so she didn’t want to hurt him leaving Li Ye Han. And the knowledge that he hated her was her everyday torture.
She was free now. She could do anything with her life. She didn’t have to endure constant humiliation.
She didn’t have to look at all that the love she was begging him for, he was giving to another woman …
After leaving the court, Lao Xi felt like sardine in a can. On each side, surrounded by reporters, directing their microphones into her.
Flashes flashed her every time when someone took a picture.
She felt claustrophobic. She hated crowded places. She hated people.
She tried to break through the herd of hyenas, hungry juicy rumors. She knew that these people most wanted to see her flooded with tears, broken. Maybe they wanted her to throw reporters who secretly took her photos.
Lao Xi snorted at the sight. Though her heart was flooded with bitterness.
For seven years she has never been so close to Li Ye Han. Never. Even during their wedding. The distance that he created between them was about one meter. There was no kiss, not even a hand.
Nothing.
And now he is in public with the woman on the day of their divorce. Could he spare her the remnants of her dignity? He had to humiliate her on such a day and against so many hungry gossip reporters?
She smiled coldly and turned to leave, but one of the reporters noticed that she wanted to run away and jumped on her again. This time, he did not even care if he accidentally hurt her.
The moment he moved forward, the camera he was holding struck her shoulder, making Lao Xi stumble over somebody’s feet. She staggered and flew towards the pavement.
At the last moment, someone grabbed her waist and pulled her up.
She wanted to raise her head to see who had saved her, but the hand holding her waist suddenly squeezed harder, her small body pressed to someone’s wide chest. She heard a voice that she recognized at once: – Let’s go.
Hearing this familiar, friendly voice of Mu Sheng, Lao Xi huddled more in his arms, hiding face in his chest, and let Mu Sheng take her to his car.
The man on the way had to growl several times for reporters who became more and more courageous.
What a fascinating turn of events, they thought.
First Li Ye Han going out with a woman in such an intimate way, and now Lao Xi held in arms by a stranger! It seemed that Ms. Li was not going to be in despair after the divorce. There was someone who could comfort her!
This was undoubtedly the theme for tomorrow’s cover. “Did Mr. Li exchange his wife with a mysterious woman with whom he left the courthouse? Didn’t Ms Li demand compensation for divorce from her ex-husband, because she found someone to take care of her? ”
As soon as they were safely in the car, Mu Sheng turned on the engine and not caring about the journalists who were rolling around the car, pressed the pedal gas, causing the journalists to move backwards.
A few moments later, the car disappeared from sight, but the man in black Aston Martin froze.
His hands clasping fiercely at the steering wheel, and the cruel aura emanated from all of his being, making him look like a demon.
On the passenger seat, Ruo Yan shuddered involuntarily, afraid to move even one muscle. No one better than she knew the temperament of Li Ye Han.
She wondered what caused this sudden change, but feeling that the atmosphere had calmed down when the man turned on the engine, she threw it in the back of the head.
She couldn’t worry now. Finally, she got what she had always dreamed of. She could celebrate the day when Li Ye Han was finally free and she could become the new Ms. Li!
