Without Me - Chapter 8 Embraces Death
Something gently touched Yao Xi’s mind. Her awareness slowly woke up, registering the stimuli reaching her.
The whole body of Yao Xi was numb and the organism sore. She didn’t even have the strength to move one finger. The pain was unbearable. The blood from her wrists didn’t coalesce when cold fetters rubbed against them with every little movement. The blood was running down her hands, creating a bloodthirsty spiderweb pattern along the way.
She suffered for several days and nights of cruel torture at the hands of the man she loved over life.
She couldn’t understand why she deserved such a fate. Was her love really so hated by Li Ye Han that he couldn’t take it anymore?
She wondered if she knew from the beginning what price she would pay for love this man, would she still go on? What is the meaning of loving someone, who feels only disgust for you?
She didn’t know if she would be able to give up if she didn’t experience his cruelty on her own skin. She would still be hoping that one day Li Ye Han’s heart would twitch a little for her. Even after what he had done to her a few months ago, there was still a spark of hope in her heart.
But now?
Now she was certain that this man would not put any other woman in the eyes except Ruo Yan. Every other is invisible to him.
“It’s a pity that there is no cure for regret, ” Yao Xi snorted as she felt another wave of unimaginable pain break through her muscles.
She prayed for a quick death, which she would welcome with open arms after what she experienced every day, but death stubbornly refused to come.
But Li Ye Han came every day. Every day he left new bloody wounds on her body, and then he would leave, as if what he had just done didn’t matter.
She wondered what kind of man could kill his own child, but Ruo Yan answered her unspoken question, when one day she came to enjoy the view of the barely living Yao Xi.
– Li Ye Han will never have a child who is not mine. You haven’t noticed it yet?
Her mocking laughter sounded in the dark dungeon, in the ears of Yao Xi she sounded like a madwoman.
– Do you know why Li Ye Han wants to kill you? – Ruo Yan asked, looking at her fingernails, as if talking to someone about the weather. – You shouldn’t have killed grandfather. After all, he treated you like a daughter. And, I must admit, I don’t understand that at all. And how did you repay him? How could you poison the only man who didn’t feel disgusted with you?
Ruo Yan’s words sounded in Yao Xi’s head, but she didn’t understand them at all. “Grandfather… is dead? How could this happen ?! ”
” I didn’t do anything … I would never …” she tried to say she would never hurt grandfather, but panic squeezed her throat and blood spurted from her lips.
” Of course you did nothing, ” Ruo Yan said, kneeling in front of Yao Xi who was choking. She caught Yao Xi’s blood-covered hair and lifted her head. With her free hand she ran over her cheek, as if calming a small child.
A gorgeous smile blossomed on her face, as when she was pretending to be her best friend. – Of course it’s not you, darling. It’s me.
She admitted it so calmly, as if it was not about depriving someone of life. And her calmness gave Yao Xi shivers.
– Who told this old man to announce your marriage? Li Ye Han is, he was and always will be mine! The old man asked for it himself. Now look. He even pulled you with him.
After these words, the woman pushed Yao Xi painfully, which almost pulled her hands from the chains attached to the ceiling, then stopped at the door and gave her the last contemptuous look:
– One more thing. I don’t advise you to say anything to Ye Han. Who do you think he will believe? A trash like you or a woman he loves?
She was right. Even if she is innocent, Li Ye Han would never believe her. Yao Xi believed that even if he knew she had not done so, he would use it as an excuse to get rid of her.
In the end, he did not even care about his own child, his own blood. How could she expect to have mercy on her?
With a sigh of pain she closed her green eyes, in which there was nothing but emptiness and indifference.
When she felt her consciousness fade, she vowed to herself that if she ever would be reborn, she would never give her heart to any man.
Love is pain, anguish and a curse!
With this thought, Yao Xi closed her heart as her eyelids closed, preparing to meet with a long-awaited death.
