Worthless - Chapter 14
Jian Yu turned at that voice.
“Are you feeling okay already?”
He saw Zeke approaching him, holding packets of sweets and munching on a bun. He looked as perfect as ever, his black hair brushed back, exposing his forehead and jade eyes so contrast with the white attire he wore, shining brightly.
It had been two days since the incident. The day where he puked on Zeke specifically.
“Good morning, Sir Roderick,” Jian Yu greeted. “I am feeling perfectly well, thank you for your concern. I apologize for causing you inconvenience.”
“It… doesn’t cause me any inconvenience, you would do the same if it were you,” Zeke took a big bite from his bun and chewed.
He walked over to Jian Yu and leaned against the wall beside him. “So, what are you doing here?”
“Ah? Oh! I am supposed to have a check-up with Doctor Liam to change my bandages. It was supposed to be yesterday, but he was preoccupied.”
“Bandages?”
“Yes, um… Just a minor injury that came with the job,” Jian Yu explained.
Zeke hummed.
Jian Yu glanced at Zeke with the corner of his eyes and abruptly turned away when he saw Zeke staring at him without saying a word.
“What about you, Sir Roderick? That’s a lot of sweets, I see,” Jian Yu quickly said, trying to get rid of the awkwardness he was feeling. The stare was starting to make him uncomfortable. When Zeke finally took his gaze away from him, he sighed in relief.
“Oh? This?” Zeke waved the bag of sweets in his hands. “It’s for Mika. Mika Crosse. One of my best friends.”
Zeke shrugged his shoulder. “His rut is closing in, maybe in a few days and during those times, he craves sweets, it’s like an obsession,” Zeke shuddered.
“He is usually such a humorous guy, cheerful and idiotic–”
Talking about sweets, Jian Yu paused. He slipped his hand inside his pocket and palmed the lollipop given to him.
“–if you ever take his sweets during pre-rut, he will go crazy like an addict. He will scream, cry, laugh, maybe all of it at once, hell, it’s like he had multiple personalities. It’s too scary–”
“Here.”
Zeke paused. “Huh?”
“He sounds like a great guy and you seemed to care a lot about him,” Jian Yu offered the lollipop to Zeke, only to see him spurted in surprise, choking on the bun he was munching on.
“Why would you give him?!” He whispered-shouted after gulping. Jealousy surged within him.
“Because he needed it? I heard pre-rut is rough for Alphas,” Jian Yu scratched his cheek, embarrassed.
“No! Just give it to me, I might need it during pre-rut too,” Zeke snatched the lollipop out of Jian Yu’s hand.
“B– but…”
“But what? My pre-rut might be close too!” Zeke snapped at him. Waves of Alpha pheromones came rolling and Jian Yu hurriedly covered his nose.
Startled at his temper outburst, Zeke instantly calmed down. He himself was stunned by the sudden fury within him. “Ah, I apologize.”
“I– I will give it to Mika, he will be delighted about it–”
“ZEE!”
Flinching, Zeke dropped the sweets and his half-finished bun. The shout came from the end of the corridor they were currently standing on.
“Oh, shoot!”
Zeke scrambled to pick up the dropped items. Loud and rapid footsteps were approaching. Jian Yu whirled around and saw a blonde man, blue eyes wide like a maniac. He looked like an addict who was restricted from consuming his drugs.
“What’s taking you so long, huh?!”
“Shit! Shit!” Zeke muttered under his breath, picking up the fallen sweets and shoved the lollipop in his pocket.
“Don’t try to hide, Zee! I see you there– Is that Huang Jian Yu?!”
‘H– How did he know me?’ Jian Yu was surprised.
“I’m sorry, I gotta go. My life is in danger,” Zeke rambled at Jian Yu, preparing to make a run for his life.
“So instead of helping your pitiful friend here who is suffering from pre-rut and almost rut, you go flirting?!” Mika shrieked and pointed at Zeke.
“See, I told you. He goes crazy without sweets. I wish he got decayed teeth when he’s old,” Zeke took hold of Jian Yu’s wrist and the words just tumbled out of his mouth rapidly. “Pray for me and don’t forget to visit my grave, Jian Yu. You know who the culprit is, bring me justice.”
After that, he ran, leaving Jian Yu standing there, dumbfounded.
“Grave, you say? They would have nothing to bury when I am done with you, Zeke Roderick!”
Mika zoomed past him and ran after Zeke, fingers pointing and shouting profanity.
A shout of “Don’t run in the hallway!” echoed, followed by a chorus of “Sorry!” replying back.
Jian Yu covered his mouth and snickered.
How fun. He never knew the both of them could be so cute.
The door suddenly slid open and shut and a male student came rushing out, almost bumping into Jian Yu. Both of them stared at each other, before the other guy finally walked away.
Jian Yu frowned. He smelt like an Omega. Was he okay? That guy’s face was flushed red.
“Come in.”
He heard a muffled voice behind the door he was standing in front of. Sliding the door open, he let himself in.

Cold, smooth hands were scrutinizing Jian Yu’s arm. The stitches on it had done a good job, it would only leave a small scar on his arm.
“Your arm is healing well,” Doctor Liam nodded. “Two more times and we can remove the bandages.”
“Thank you, doctor,” Jian Yu felt happy. He was feeling much more refreshed since yesterday. Whatever Doctor Liam gave him was potent.
“There, off you go,” He patted Jian Yu on his arms. “Head back to class. Ah! Wait…”
Doctor Liam then searched through his doctor coat.
‘Probably looking for candy to give,’ Jian Yu mused. He was hoping Doctor Liam forgot to bring some. Much to his relief, Doctor Liam indeed forgot to bring more.
Jian Yu hurriedly excused himself and left.
He never noticed how Doctor Liam’s eyes glinted behind his glasses and watched his every move.
