Worthless - Chapter 93
There was just something in his gut that was screaming non-stop, telling him that something unpleasant was about to occur. He shook his leg, thumping his foot against the wooden platform he was standing on, creating loud thudding noises which he received a few glares from different sides.
When he received the news that all the participants had returned, his emerald eyes immediately did a scanning.
Scanning for a particular silver head.
Rei was quite tall for what he was and he wasn’t one to deny when someone questioned his second-gender, he just let it be. So when he tiptoed, he could still see past the river of humans.
The ash brown-haired man knew he should be chill, for goodness’ sake, Jian Yu was a goddamn grown ass man, but shit, he was getting more and more restless the more he thought about it.
His hand slipped into his coat, palming the long but thin form of a case. Rei had always brought it with him, even though he knew there was almost zero percentage of it happening unless triggered, it was nice to always be prepared.
Jian Yu loved to be prepared at all times.
Rei just learned from the most paranoid man ever.
No matter how he tried convincing himself, his fingers still drummed nervously against his arm when he couldn’t catch a sight of his brother.
After being a busy body and asked everywhere, he finally got the information of his brother’s whereabouts. When they pointed out that most of the participants were in the infirmary, including his brother, Rei was already assuming the worst.
He stormed over, blind to the world as he stomped to the infirmary with a hurried pace.
Everything would have gone smoothly if only he hadn’t bumped into a hard rock wall. The Omega nursed his nose, apologizes were on the tip of his tongue, but the words uttered to him startled Rei, making him snap his head up to look at the hard wall he just crashed into.
Bright cerulean eyes stared down at him and Rei resisted to take a step back because, man, that was too close. The man just right in front of him also exuded a strong Alpha scent that Rei momentarily had to stabilize himself, another thing he hated being an Omega.
“God, why do you smell like that?”
That was enough for Rei to snap back to his consciousness and look who he had bumped into. Dirty blond hair, short and looked like it had never been combed entered his vision.
The Omega had to arch his neck back to see the whole picture of the Alpha standing in front of him. He was tall, huge, and Rei knew who exactly that was.
Mika Crosse.
A distant nephew of the Crosse family that suddenly decided to live in a small town like Zariya with his surrogate uncle instead of the Capital City.
A close friend of Zeke Roderick.
And how did he know that?
Because he read all the files his brother had.
“What are you doing?” Another cold but feminime voice penetrated the air, only then did Rei saw another person behind Mika Crosse.
Clement had a hand on her hip, wearing a full complete armor designed for combat. Realization dawned in the Omega that the thing he had crashed onto was the armor identical to the one Clement was wearing.
No wonder it hurt so much!
“Nothing,” Mika shrugged. “Just that this Omega smells so… Fake, like it’s fabricated.”
“What?” Rei was startled, his heart thumped, in fear of getting found out. Scent blockers were forbidden here, but Rei had been abusing those blockers for he hated his own sweet scent. Fortunately, no one seemed to want to hear his opinion.
Clement raised her eyebrows at Mika’s response but that didn’t stop her from looking over to the Omega that got in their way.
Curiously, she sniffed the air and immediately scrunched her nose when she caught a whiff of the Omega’s scent, but she decided not to comment on it.
“What a pity.” Mika shook his head and sighed. “Such a good looking Omega, but smells so disturbing.”
Strangely, Rei felt those words stabbed something deep inside him. Though, normally he was not one to put those thoughts in his heart, for some reason, he hated it when coming out from this Alpha in front of him.
It made him want to rub off the scent blockers he had applied on himself.
“Let’s go, don’t waste our time on something unimportant,” Clement turned her heels, walking in the direction of the infirmary. “Didn’t they say Jian Yu is in the infirmary? It’s this way, right?”
“Zeke’s in there too. Shouldn’t we just leave them be? Don’t wanna walk in something for sure,” Mika ruffled his short blond hair, messing the already messy hair even more.
“And that is exactly why I need to be there.”
“Wait, what?! Don’t tell me…” The blond Alpha gasped dramatically, hands covering his mouth like he had heard something extraordinary.
“Are you jealous?” Mika asked with a tiny voice.
Clement smacked the back of the other Alpha’s head, so hard that Mika clutched his precious head and whined in pain. But the female Alpha had enough of his dramatic antics that she immediately went on her own.
Rei, who had been forgotten, was still standing over there and watched the interaction between the two Alphas. His sharp ears immediately perked up when he heard his brother’s name mentioned.
“E– Excuse me…!” He shouted before he could stop himself and almost blushed when both Alpha suddenly turned towards him.
He gulped and took a deep breath. Stilling himself and tried to overcome the overwhelming presence of the two Alpha. “Did you say Jian Yu? Did you know where he is?”
The questions seemed to irk Clement as she crossed her arms in annoyance, the metal armor clacked against each other when she did so. “And who are you to him, I suppose?”
“I… I–” Rei stuttered for a second when Clement flared her Alpha pheromones. “I’m his brother!”
“Brother?” Clement raised an elegant eyebrow up. “Wait a minute…”
