X-Rank Hunter - Chapter 27: Curing Sheiyn
The girl in front of her was the daughter of ‘Don Cruz’, the guild master of ‘Moonlight Knight’, the number one guild of Maharlika Kingdom.
Not only that her father ‘Don Cruz’ was the guild master of the number one guild, but he was also one of the ‘heroes’ who ended the civil war 15 years ago. ‘Cruz family’ also could tame beasts and summon Spirits in their own way as their specialty.
All the guild masters of the top three guilds in Maharlika were all SS-rank Hunter and each of them were dominating each region in the Maharlika Kingdom.
Only her husband ‘Joe Jabat’ was different in all of the four SS-rank Hunters in the Kingdom. He had no guild to belong to and never been tied down again after the ‘former guild’ he belonged in the past was disbanded. However, he was a ‘powerhouse’ enough to contend any guild in Maharlika.
Nevertheless, Don Cruz was a powerhouse himself as well and he didn’t pale that much in comparison to her husband Joe Jabat. Although Joe was stronger than Don, the latter was still the ruler of the largest region of the country, Luz Region, and his authority there was far beyond to that of Joe’s. It was only second to the King and the Chairman of Hunter Association.
Well, Joe didn’t have so much authority in every region of the Kingdom. He didn’t care about it after all. All he wanted to do was to venture the world and live freely as he like.
“So you’re Sheiyn. I think you already heard it from my son but let me introduce us to you again, my name is Charley and you can call me Tita[1] if you like. My son beside you is Jim. Nice to meet you.” Charley let out a heartfelt smile as she stared at the other party and paused for a moment. After which, a slight frown appeared on her face as she continued, “By the way, how did you end up being chased by the wolf and be saved by my son?”
Hearing those, Sheiyn immediately reddened in embarrassment. She was hesitant to tell the reason nevertheless, she mustered all her courage and tell to them, “I lost the amulet that was protecting me from the sun.”
Well, that was one of her reason but she didn’t tell the very reason behind it.
Why was she here in this place in the first place? How could she lose something very important?
Charley saw through this. Nevertheless, she didn’t care that much about it.
She stared at Sheiyn in confusion and asked, “You lost your amulet? So Don still hasn’t found a way to cure your illness huh.”
Knowing about the other party’s condition, Charley couldn’t help but shook her head as she continued, “But you really are careless to lose your amulet.”
Hearing those, Sheiyn had once again reddened in embarrassment but it didn’t take long for her to notice that the other party actually knew about her illness. Sheiyn really was taken aback this time.
“You know about my illness, T-tita?” Sheiyn asked in wonder, still shy to call the other party Tita.
But what mattered the most was that the other party knowing about her secret! So how could she not be surprised if there was someone who knew about her weakness?
“Not only I know, but I can also cure you, do you want to give it a try?” Charley chuckled softly.
“You can cure my illness?” This time Sheiyn was shocked beyond words and even found her hands trembling in excitement.
She knew how hard it was to cure her illness and even her father found it hard to look for a capable and trustworthy healer. If she could find a healer, not only she, even her father might jump up in joy.
“Yes. If you can trust me, that is.” Charley replied leisurely, not caring about the surprised reaction of the other party.
“This…” Sheiyn hesitated for a while. She knew that she could trust the other party but she just met her and her life was depending on it.
Her father always told her to not be fooled by anyone but she knew that the person before her was different.
What she had now might be called an illness, but it was actually the illness that an awakener would go crazy to get for themselves.
Her illness was called ‘Moon Curse’, it was an illness that gave her explosive power at the night but weaken her under the sun. It was more like a curse than an illness.
It was the complete opposite of the illness that Charley’s daughter currently had. Charley’s daughter, ‘Jade Jabat’, who was now with her grandfather Laude Mausig, also had an illness almost similar to the Moon Curse.
Her daughter’s illness was called ‘Sun Curse’, with the same characteristic as Moon Curse, it gave her explosive power during the day but weaken her exponentially at night.
Charley could use her extraordinary power to cure Sheiyn’s illness just like what she had done to her daughter. Furthermore, if Charley cured the illness of Sheiyn, the other party was still able to amass great power under the night especially under the full moon but she would not be affected by the sunlight anymore.
After a long while of thinking, Sheiyn had finally decided, “Tita, can I ask you to cure me?”
It was a hard decision for her but knowing the identity of the other party, made her feel at ease as she could only put her trust in her.
“Don’t worry Tita, I will ask father to compensate you for this.” Sheiyn continued as she assured her about the compensation.
“Haha this kid, you don’t need to do that. I have nothing else I desire in this world, except for one thing…” As she said those words, Charley stood up from her seat and a book appeared on her hand yet again. After which, its pages turned after pages as immeasurable energy was emitted from Charley’s body, furiously striking the sky.
In this world, everything is meaningless. No material thing is can be worthy of putting my whole heart and strength.
But I have this one thing that I desired… And that is to always be together with my family and love ones. It doesn’t matter if we are always happy or not, as long as we’re always together, it’s more than enough.
The gaze of Charley exuded the aura of gloom as she stared at the other party. She knew full well how happy it was to be together with a family without any kind of worry. Just seeing Sheiyn in front of her who had an illness that needed to be cured was already more than enough as compensation. That would definitely relieve her heart!
The energy released by Charley was gradually becoming stronger as the weather was changed by the sudden event. Lightning was angered and roared like a madman. Dark clouds were attracted and covered the entire village.
The strong force tried to push away the surrounding and except the things in the house, both Jim and Bantay were sent flying outside!
“Little girl, this would be somewhat painful so please bear with it.” Charley warned as she finally cast her magic to the other party.
Afterward, Sheiyn who was surprised by the sudden treatment, floated in midair as an immeasurable World Energy invaded throughout her body.
As she was inside the sphere of energy, she could only grit her teeth and endure the pain. She even failed to voice out her agony.
Meanwhile, as Jim and Bantay were sent flying outside their house after Charley do her things without even warning them, they really thought that the world had gone mad. Jim who was now lying on the ground even found himself crying.
Why so rush? Can you just warn us first?
Do you even consider me as a son? Do you still care about my safety?
And the house, are you going to destroy it again?
Bantay who was sent flying as well immediately rushed to his master upon landing on the ground. He could still stand the force that was coming out from Charley but it was so sudden that he didn’t have any time to react. And that caused him to be sent flying as well.
“Master are you ok?” Bantay asked worriedly.
“I’m ok, it’s a good thing that I have an insane healing ability, otherwise, I would really need a week to heal my injuries.” Struggling to stand up, Jim assured his tamed beast that he was fine.
He then turned his gaze to their house and what he saw made his body shuddered. The same went for Bantay, even he, found himself trembling.
There was only one word that was able to escape from his mouth, and that was… “Monster.”
“Yeah, good thing we were sent flying if not…” Jim muttered in disbelief as he could not voice out the remaining words that he wanted to say.
