X-Rank Hunter - Chapter 36: The War (1)
Not too far away outside the Biga village of where many hunters and Semi-Demons were brawling all over, blood flowed down like rivers and corpses lied down like pieces of trunks.
The numbers of the Semi-Demons were already reduced by a half but surprisingly, there were no human corpses that could be found!
Kaboom!
A certain hunter was sent flying by a heavy punch of a certain Semi-Demon.
“Damn it! I already killed that human many times already! Just how did he manage to come out of the village every time I kill him.” Semi-Demon 1 uttered in frustration.
“I told you! They are probably resurrecting in the village! They were surely making use of the power of the Original Sin!” Semi-Demon 2 exclaimed in another frustration.
“Yeah! That surely be the case! If we could just enter the village and destroy their ‘Resurrection Platform’…” Semi-Demon 3 spoke in yet another frustration.
“Just when the hell will the Demon Knights come back and destroy the barrier?! Don’t they know that we are already suffering heavy loses here?” Semi-Demon 1 complained.
“Shut your mouth!” Semi-Demon 3 warned in coldness, “Do you want to die from your blabbing? Besides, don’t forget that we are just here to gather as much information as we could, not to invade it!”
“Ugh… But we are indeed on the losing side here. We might all die before we can gather some useful information.” Semi-Demon 1 complained yet again.
“Just wait. They are also fighting strong opponents!” Semi-Demon 2 spoke this time as he assured the other party, “And they could gather some useful information by fighting them.”
“If you wanted to, you can fight the human who killed us before!” Semi-Demon 3 reminded. “You know full well that we Demon Captains can only be revived by ‘him’ once a day. If we die here, it’s our end.”
Immediately, Semi-Demon 1 felt a shudder down to his spine.
It appeared that these three were actually the ones who first came out from the portal a while ago and were helplessly killed by Sam!
Semi-Demon 1, the one who was killed first by Sam, underestimated the humans at first. But when he found out how strong the humans really were and saw it with his own eyes, his viewpoint immediately flipped sides.
As the three Semi-Demons continued to chat with each other, the other Semi-Demons and hunters around were fighting desperately with their life on the line.
The woods nearby became a battlefield as the surroundings were torn and many craters were formed on the ground! The woods were either burning or cut down. Smokes rose from all around and the sky continued to be darkened as it was saddened from the sight.
No more tears wanted to come out from the clouds as it was already too tired to cry. Even its moan was halted and even the blow of the wind was afraid to visit.

Jino was an S-rank Hunter who was at the scene and was fighting many Semi-Demons at once. He already killed a couple of them with his blazing fire.
But for the first time, he was killed by a certain Semi-Demon by a surprise stab from behind. So when he was resurrected from the village, he immediately rushed to the battlefield to look for the one who killed him.
But when he found out that the one who killed him was actually so small and was seemingly weak and was only good at hiding, his frustration immediately risen to the tenth level.
Raising his right hand upwards, a giant ball of fire was immediately formed above. Scorching heat could be felt across the battlefield, ready to burn down anything on sight.
Without caring to all his teammates to be implicated from his attack, Jino jumped up and in the midair, he released the ball of fire to send it to the one who killed him a while ago.
There were a few hunters near that Semi-Demon and when they feel that something was amiss that as if death was embracing them, they looked up above, and to their horror, a huge ball of flame greeted them.
“You bastard!!!” The hunters exclaimed in frenzy. They immediately realized that this fire was actually made by their teammate!
They tried to run away but sadly for them, it was already too late! The ball of fire landed on them together with the Semi-Demon who killed Jino earlier and some other Semi-Demons. Even in their death, they still couldn’t believe that the one who killed them was actually their teammate!
But what Jino didn’t know was that the one who killed him earlier didn’t even suffer from his ball of fire but instead, he vanished to where he was standing and avoided the flame. Jino only thought that the other party was burned down to ashes at that time.
The land then exploded and fire spread out to the battlefield. Even the other S-ranks around found their eyebrows twitching uncontrollably.
“Just what the hell are you doing, Jino?!” Anna, one of the S-rank hunters around bellowed in frustration.
She knew that this Jino was unreliable and would cause some trouble. But she never thought that he would go so far as to kill his own teammates as well.
“They will revive in the village anyway so why are you so angry at me?” Jino replied, not caring to the frustrated Anna.
“You…!” Anna really was angered to the max level this time, “Did you forget the price for reviving back and its limit?”
“It’s just a day of suffering, and if they reach their limit, they could just rest in the village so why are you making a fuss over it?!” Jino replied leisurely as he left Anna alone and went to the other part of the battlefield instead to cause havoc in his wake.
“You bastard! I’m still talking to you!!” Anna cried out but as if she was talking to a wind, there was no one responded to her call.
“Let him be.” Nene, another S-rank hunter spoke to Anna to calm her down, “Let’s just pray that he dies again and suffer to the price of reviving back.”
Both Anna and Nene were beauties that every man would go crazy into. Anna was using trees and plants as her ability and she wore a green dress that fitted her the best.
On the other hand, Nene was also a fire user and a scorching heat was always following wherever she went. She really was so hot!
“Let’s just combine our forces and finish this battle already. I still have some matters to do.” Nene beckoned impatiently.
Seeing the other party, Anna could only sigh deeply and agree with the other party. She then raised her slender right hand forward as she said in elegance,
“Fiery Forest!”
Immediately, trees and vines popped up from the ground, surrounding and entangling all the Semi-Demons in range. Of course, all the hunters in the area were avoided.
The trees and vines then produced some kind of gas as if it would immediately burn upon contact with fire.
Knowing that Anna and Nene were up to something, the A-ranks immediately backed away and went back inside the village to rest for some time while the other three S-ranks nearby gathered together behind Anna and Nene.
But of course, not all the Semi-Demons were caught. Some of them had managed to escape, some had managed to block it, some only let the vines and trees entangled and trapped them as if it was nothing at all. Semi-Demon A only waved her hand and the trees and vines immediately avoided her.
But it didn’t end there, seeing all the preparations were all done, Nene beside Anna gazed to the magically created forest as a smile surfaced on her lips.
She then sucked some air and after a few moments, she breathed out but instead of wind, a bloody colored fire came out from her mouth!
“Salamander’s Death Breath!”
Swooosh!
Upon contact with her fire, the forest was immediately burned down as the Semi-Demons inside screamed in agony. But not everyone of course.
Semi-Demon B and C just let the fire embraced them as if they felt a warmth from it. Semi-Demon A only stood up and the forest fire just avoided her on its own.
Semi-Demon 1, 2, and 3 were even yawing as if they had just woke up in the morning.
Almost the entire battlefield was on fire as screams of agony could be heard all around. But it didn’t take long for the Semi-Demons to make a move as well.
Snap.
“Avid For Tranquility.”
Semi-Demon A who was inside the forest fire that was avoiding her, snapped her finger and to the next instant, the wildfire immediately vanished, leaving only the burnt forest and ashes swept away by the wind and some smoke floating to above!
Many Semi-Demons were half-dead but after the fire was extinguished they all heaved a huge sigh of relief. Nevertheless, it didn’t change the fact that they suffered severe injuries.
They were all frenziedly gasping for air, afraid that it would be their last breath!
“Oh?! Kristina, I thought you are only going to watch from the side?” Semi-Demon B who were caught from the fire but only let the fire embraced her, questioned in disbelief.
“Well, I’m getting bored just by watching you know.” Semi-Demon A named Kristina replied lazily.
“I feel the same way. Should we, the Demon Captains, make a move as well?” Semi-Demon C uttered leisurely as she walked closer to Kristina.
“Is there even a need to ask such a question?” In all of a sudden, a sound of an arrogant voice of a man sounded from the thin air.
After which, a Semi-Demon, the one who killed Jino from earlier appeared in the middle of the battlefield where many injured Semi-Demons were gathered.
He was short, not taller than 5 feet, but one could tell how nimble he was.
“Captain, help us!” The crowd cried out in despair seeing their captain who had as if came to save them from their sufferings.
